Dear fellow Christians that meet at North A, I am grateful to you for permitting me to serve as an elder among you for about 25 years. For the past few years my efforts to serve have been limited and they are rapidly becoming more limited. I have decided that it is time for me to step aside as an elder. This resignation is effective immediately. Again, thanks for the opportunity to serve and may the God of all grace be with me and with you as we each strive to bring glory to His name. Paul W. August 15 … Larry Roberts, Eastland … Hebrews 4:11 let us therefore strive to enter that rest

August 22 … prayer meeting August 29 … Paul Shero, San Angelo … Hebrews 13:15 let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God

Can you believe that we are well into the month of August and that fall is just a month or so away? Three ways of serving that I would designate as "salt and light" ministries are Family Promise, Kid's Clothing Exchange, and

Monday Lunch. I'm listing information about each of those to let you know of ways in which you can lend a hand.

• Family Promise. About every three months we open the doors of our church building to as many as four families (a maximum of fourteen persons) that are participating in Family Promise of Midland. Each day that week they eat their evening meal and spend the night in our church building, leaving very early the next morning to go to their jobs, school,

or the Family Promise Day Center. See Gail Green if you would like to help in some way.

• Kid's Clothing Exchange. Once a month -- usually on the final Saturday from 9:00-11:00 AM -- we offer an opportunity to families of our community to select clothing for their children from gently used items that others have donated. Though not required, those coming for clothing can also donate clothing that their own children have outgrown. For the last couple of years we also have distributed coats for children that are provided through Operation Warm, a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia whose sole mission is to provide coats for children. You are welcome to help by donating clothing, helping to sort clothing during the week, or helping out on the Saturday that parents come. One special need this time of year: many elementary and junior high schools in Midland require students to wear uniforms -- we could give away many solid color polo type shirts (preferred colors are white, red, navy, maroon, or green). See Frankie Wickham if you would

like to help with this ministry in some way.

• Monday Lunch. Each Monday that school is in session, we offer a quick lunch to students from nearby Midland High School that is prepared and served by North "A" members at our Service Building. Many of you help with this by donating "Little Debbie" dessert snacks (the students always like anything chocolate). This year MHS students are out for lunch at 12:25 and arrive at our building soon afterward. The first lunch this year will be on August 27. See Ann Higgs if you

would like to assist in some way.

Whether you participate in any other way, I encourage you to pray about each of these efforts, asking God to help us work together in ways that bring glory to Him and that faith, hope, and love will be our touchstones in these ministries. I also ask that you pray that as people in our community experience God's love through these works of service, there will be opportunities

to invite them to follow Jesus with us.
