Wednesday, November 13 4:30—5:30 Cafeteria

Our school is participating in a very special community service program to raise funds for the American Heart Association. We’re joining in the fight against cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

We will hold our “Hoops for Heart Event” the week of November 11-15, 2013. During this week, all students in grades 1-5 participate in spe-cial “hoop” activities and learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and good nutrition dur-ing her/his physical education class.

All students in grades 1-5 brought home information recently about our “Hoops for Heart Event”. The money we raise will help people in our community learn how to avoid heart disease and stroke. Cheyenne will qualify for gift certificates for physical education equipment based on the amount of money we raise. Students will also re-ceive thank-you gifts based on the amount of money they collect for this event. The thank-you gifts will be delivered to Cheyenne in December.

All checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association. Cash will not be ac-cepted. The money is due by November 1, 2013.

“Hoops for Heart” is a fun event that helps our children understand the importance of com-munity service and physical activity. Our efforts truly make a difference! Thank you for your sup-port!

Mrs. Guitar and Mr. McClorey

It is not too early to begin thinking about Challenge Day, which is scheduled for Friday, June 6 (rain date is June 9). The sign-up sheets are posted outside the North gym doors on the wall. Parents of children in grades 1-5 can sign up now to run one of the 29 events. 3-5 grade activities will run from 9:45 am—Noon. K-2 grade activities will run from 12:45-3:00 pm. Kinder-garten parents should not sign up to run an event as they are able to accompany their own child to the dif-ferent events.

If you are planning ahead for Thanksgiving Break, please note that there is NO SCHOOL on

Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29. Classes resume on

Monday, December 2..

For all their hard work on the MEAP Tests last month, Cheyenne’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be attend-ing the Stand Strength Team’s Anti-Bullying Assembly in the MPR on Friday, November 8! The children will learn the importance of making the right choices, respecting others, achieving academic excellence, as well as anti-peer pres-sure and anti-bullying.

It’s great to be a Cheyenne Sun again! Thank you to all the students and their families for making me feel so welcome. Cheyenne is truly a wonderful place to be. I look forward to a wonderful school year devoted to maintaining a focused and safe learning environment for your children. I am very excited to be here and am looking forward to continuing to work with the students and families of Cheyenne. Please feel free to contact me at any time.

After 3:15 PM Daily

Parents driving west on Cougar Drive toward Heydenreich should enter the Seneca parking lot at the west entrance just before Heydenreich. Vehicles making right turns from Cougar Drive into the Cheyenne entrance are not permitted.

Parents turning off Heydenreich at the light or crossing Balmoral at Heydenreich should enter the first Seneca parking lot entrance. Please form a second line next to the group described above. Vehicles are not permitted to make left turns into the Cheyenne entrance.

Crossing guards will be present to keep traffic moving from the Seneca lot

across Cougar Drive to the Cheyenne entrance. They will stop traffic when necessary. Please follow their directions. Please do not cross Cougar Drive until instructed to do so.

If you park in the Seneca Lot and walk over to pick up your child, please use the sidewalk provided to walk your child back. Please cross where we have Crossing Guards. Walkers ARE NOT permitted to walk in the entrance and/or exit driveways. The sidewalk is there for your convenience and safety.

We will continue to make dismissal as quick and safe as we possibly can. You can help our students, teachers and crossing guards by pulling up as far as you can to the student “loading zone.” Please do not exit your vehicle. Your children will come to you.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
