    A Note On SpoilersOkay, there are spoilers throughout this guide. I haven't troubled myself tomake sure they are removed. Super Mario games aren't exactly played for theirstoryline so it's not going to have as much of an effect on things compared toa story-driven game like Final Fantasy VII or the like. Even so, you've beenwarned!!

    A Note On The Style Of The WalkthroughCourse Walkthroughs in this guide are designed to be comprehensive. They aremeant to include a detailed explanation of how to go about completing eachlevel and collecting everything within it. For this reason, course walkthroughscan be lengthy at times. If you prefer a shorter, less detailed walkthrough,you may prefer one of the other guides. If you're looking for where aparticular Star Coin that keeps eluding you however, they are displayed ineasy-to-see boxes throughout each level, making this guide a cinch to use.Simply search the course you're finding troublesome (see the contents below onhow to do this) and then scroll through to the appropriate Star Coin.

    The walkthroughs are not the quickest way to finish a level, but are instead

    designed to help beginners by using more basic and easier-to-explaininstructions. They don't need to be followed step-by-step at any means and Idon't expect them to be. If you can jump over an obstacle that I tell you towait before until it moves, do so.

    Welcome to my Super Mario 3D Land guide! I'm quite excited as this is reallymy first guide for a major game, but my fifth overall. Evidently, it has turnedout to be quite the compendium of information on the game and I sincerely hopeit's aided you in anything you may have wanted to know about the game. Read on!

    Super Mario 3D Land is the first Super Mario Land game for the 3DS. It isn'tanything like its predecessors from the Super Mario Land series, but is insteada fusion of the modern 3D and classic 2D Mario platformers. One of its slogans,as pushed by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto is that it's:

    "3D Mario that plays like a 2D Mario game"

    And it does. Almost all levels, although in 3D, are very linear and direct

    the player through the level very well, unlike previous games like Super Mario64 and Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 where the worlds felt a bit more open andless directed. It's certainly a game for casual gamers, although the game isstill fun to play for hardcore gamers and the Special Worlds and a few of theNormal World levels are still a bit challenging. It's also a great game toallow Nintendo to show off the capabilities of the 3DS' gyroscopic 3D. Overall,it feels like a good addition to the Super Mario franchise.

    The plot and gameplay of Super Mario 3D Land are most certainly nothing new(except for being able to play in gyroscopic 3D of course). You start the

    game with Peach being stolen away by Bowser during the night. In the morning,Mario wakes to find a picture of Peach being imprisoned by Bowser (he sent apostcard maybe?). You then play as Mario, playing through eight worlds full oflevels until you finally reach the end and save Peach. It's a basic platformerat heart. You stomp enemies, hit ? Blocks and try and reach the top of the GoalPole at the end each level. Controls and the like are what you come to expectfrom every Mario game and with the reintroduction of some old Super Mariofeatures (Goal Poles from the original Super Mario Bros. for example) as wellas the return of some new features (climbable poles with the same appearance asthose from Super Mario Galaxy for example).     Blow Away Flowers ... This is a lesser known control. Blow fairly heavily into the microphone (it's a small hole just below the Start Button). Any white or yellow flowers on-screen will be blown away, revealing their contents.

    Moves - When in a Propeller BoxPropel .............. When in mid-air, press A/B to propel. Can only be used once until you land on a platform or stomp an enemy, which allows you to propel again.Hover ............... When in mid-air and after propelling, hold in A/B to hover.

    Moves - When in a CannonAim ................. Use the Circle Pad or physically move the 3DS to aim.Fire ................ Press A/B/X/Y to fire yourself from the cannon at wherever you're aiming.

    Moves - When looking through Binoculars

    Look Around ......... Use the Circle Pad or physically move the 3DS to look around.Stop looking ........ Press A/B/X/Y to stop looking through the Binoculars.Zoom In ............. Press R to zoom in.Zoom Out ............ Press L to zoom out.

    The 'main worlds' of Super Mario 3D Land are the first eight before you reachthe Special Worlds. In fact, they're what the Special Worlds are based off of.In the sections following is a complete walkthrough of every level of thosefirst eight worlds, written to assist you if ever you have trouble.

    Star Coin Alert! BoxesBelow is an example of a 'Star Coin Alert!' box. You don't need to collect all

    of the Star Coins in the game to complete it (although you will need some tounlock worlds required to advance the game). Each 'Star Coin Alert!' tells youhow to collect the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Star Coin for every level. If you want tofully complete a game, then use these to help you out. If not then just skipover them, as simply as that.

    On DirectionsNot only do I use directions like 'move left/right/forward/back' but I alsouse the cardinal directions (North/South/East/West). Although which ways isNorth isn't denoted in-game, I use it as a fairly easy way of directing theplayer through a level.

    For all intents and purposes, north is away from the screen, south is towardthe screen, east is right and west is left. Simple yes?

    Assumptions This Walkthrough MakesTo streamline the walkthrough a couple of assumptions have been made. The firstis that you are using Mario. Luigi has slightly different mechanics, so certainthings may differ slightly from the walkthrough. It also makes things muchsimpler. The second assumption is that you're never Small Mario/Luigi when youfind a power up from a ? Block or what have you. If you were, the contents willgenerally be a Super Mushroom instead of what is said in the guide. If you'reany other form of Mario/Luigi, then you will find the item that is written.

    Recommendations On How To Play The GameNow, I don't like to tell people how to play a game. There isn't meant to beone method that should always be followed to play a game. What I'm doing hereis recommending the easiest way to play the game. You can totally ignore it ifyou wish, but I recommend at least reading what I have to say.

    My recommendations are as follows:

    o Collect all Star Coins as you play through each level.

    If you plan to totally finish the game (I don't see why you wouldn't). You'regoing to need to collect every single Star Coin anyway. Even if you only wantto finish up to Special World 8-Bowser's Castle, you need almost every StarCoin. Going back to find them can be annoying and a waste of time, so it'srecommended that you collect them all as you go.

    o Use Luigi once you unlock him.

    Luigi, although he tends to slide a lot, can jump a little bit higher andfurther than Mario. If you can adapt to the extra sliding, he is much easierto use, except for levels that required steady feet (ones with many small

    platforms). You will end up needing to complete every course with bothcharacters, but the second playthrough won't require you to do as much, sousing Mario won't be as tricky then.

    o Decide if you want to play the final level.

    This level requires a lot of work to unlock. You need to complete every coursewith both characters and get golden flags in each one as well. If you decidebeforehand that you want to play this final level (It's worth it, trust me),then you need to make a special effort to try and get the Golden Flag on thefirst playthrough of any given course so that you don't need to worry about itlater on. If you don't intend to play the final level, you can be a little

    more relaxed about getting Golden Flags. If you do miss a Golden Flag, don'treplay the course straight away just to get it. You're going to need to replaythe course with which every character you don't use the first time around, soyou can reattempt to then. If you miss it the second time, then you're goingto need to replay the course.

    As stated, these are all recommendations. Play however you wish, but if youwant to save yourself a bit of time, feel free to follow the suggestions above.

Grab it and move down and right until yousee the tightrope.

    Jump off the yellow platform back to the Checkpoint Flag. The right of the twotrees north of the Checkpoint Flag contains a Tanooki Leaf if you climb rightto the top. Grab it if you wish. Follow the arrow sign directing you to enterthe building. Here you'll find a Tanooki Goomba. These little guys can jump, sobe prepared for that. Upon defeating it drops a Tanooki Leaf (Tanooki LeavesEVERYWHERE!). Break the bottom-right of the six brick blocks in the ditch (tailspin or ground pound the block to break it) for a few extra coins. Also breakthe brick block on the elevated ground. It will reveal a crank which you canturn with Tanooki Mario's Tail Spin. Keep spinning it until the platform is outof the building and you're in open air. Grab the Green Clock just north of youfor an 100 added to your time (unnecessary, but it'll grant you some extracoins when you finish the level) and break the crates to your left for a bunch

    of extra coins. After that, jump off the right side of the cliff whilst at arun and hold in 'A' to hover and collect the extra coins. Defeat the twoGoombas below if you want coins (or just 'cause those nastily cute things arefun to kill).

    Continuing to your right will lead you to a pair of Binoculars. Looking throughthese isn't necessary but I'll include information on it for completion's sake.Stand on the little green button and you'll begin looking through them. Testthem out (physically move your 3DS around or just the Circle Pad). Once you'vedone that zoom in on the Toad. He's standing just to the right of the colourfulblocks that have been used as makeshift steps right on the other side of thelevel, near the Goal Pole. If you're still having trouble, look for little redlines coming out from a central point, this is where Toad is. Once you've

    zoomed in Toad will jump up the coloured blocks and give an example of how tojump onto the Goal Pole. Watch it if you want and then exit out.

    of the tightrope. The ? Block contains another Tanooki Leaf. Now jump downwherever you please (preferably not a bottomless hole) and continue on. I'llcontinue you on as if you jumped off the south edge, although it's best to jumpoff the north edge, so that you're skipping as much of the level as possible.

    From here, jump over the broken yellow bridge. The top plant will produce aSuper Mushroom if you move onto it. Moving north you'll see some crates as wellas a Giant Tanooki Goomba and two normal Tanooki Goombas. Defeat them (Wait forthem to land before jumping on them) and continue on. Collect the bunch ofcoins flying out of the water to either side of the path if you wish then jumpup to the top of the colourful block stairs, take a run up and jump onto thetop of the Goal Pole.

    Wait for the Ball 'n' Chain to move out of your road and run past. Defeat thetwo Goombas and hit the middle ? Block, it contains a Fire Flower. Grab it.Keep going and you'll encounter an Inky Piranha Plant. Defeat it, preferablybefore it shoots ink at you as that'll just serve to slow you down. Fire Mario

    is great for killing it quickly as you don't have to be careful aiming a jumpat him, you can just spit a fireball at him. The right of the next two brickblocks contains a bunch of coins so just keep hitting it until it runs out.

    Don't be too careful about not falling down off the platform. If you haven'tdone it by the time you're ready to move on, jump down. Below is ground, asingle Goomba and a Warp Pipe. Deal with the Goomba and enter the Warp Pipe.Inside is a +100 Time, Green Clock. Grab it as well as all the coins. The brickblock at the top right corner contains a number of coins. Go through the otherwarp pipe and you are teleported to just before the rotating platform.

    After the platform is two Large ? Blocks and a Goomba. Collect the coins anddefeat the Goomba. A little further on is a three-high Goomba Stack. Have a bitof fun defeating them. You can crouch and move into the small gap between thebrick blocks that you are about to reach. The left one even contains a fewextra coins. Jump when you're crouched under them to hit them.

    Next up is a four-high stack of Goombas. No need to try and jump on each ofthem without touching the ground, there aren't enough to gain a 1-Up by doingit. If you are going to kill them by jumping on them, wait for them to moveover to you whilst you stand on the elevated platform. Keep going and you'llreach the Checkpoint Flag! Grab the coin on the right and a trail of coins willappear. Always a nice bonus.

    See the coins on the left wall in the next area? Jump into and you'll find thatthere are invisible ? Blocks there. Jump up, just south of those two blocks

    (between the blocks and the wall) and a Super Star will bounce out. GRAB IT ANDRUN! What you want to do here is run at as many enemies as possible. Everyenemy past four enemies killed grants a 1-Up. Not bad right? Note that the Ball'n' Chain enemies don't count as an enemy for 1-Up purposes. You should easilybe able to defeat 3 Koopa Troopas, 4 Goombas and 1 Inky Piranha Plant whichwould give a total of 4 extra lives. As this is all so close to the CheckpointFlag, you can grab the Super Star, get some 1-Ups, killing yourself (as long asyou're getting at least 2 1-Ups per Super Star running you'll be gaining livesoverall) and repeating. You can do this for an insane amount of lives,relatively quickly too!

    When the Super Star's effect has worn off, you need to backtrack back to whereyou first found it. The small ? Block between the two larger ones contains aFire Flower if you want it. The Large ? Block on the right is very notable asyou can hit it multiple times, giving you a large amount of coins in a verysmall amount of time with minimal effort. Continue on from this point to getthe next Star Coin!

If you're currently Fire Mario, shoota fireball at the unlit torch in the far right corner of the area. A largesquare of coins will appear.

    SECRET EXIT!

    One of two secret exits in the game, taking this one will skip you to thebeginning of World 2. To reach it, move to the Warp Pipe that leads to thefinal area. Instead of entering it, jump onto it and then use it to jump up tothe platform above it, on top of the wall. You may need to gain some momentumfirst before attempting the jump or you may not be able to reach it.

    Once you're up, move to the north of the platform and run west. Jump over thegap and continue running west until you reach the 1-Up at the end. Grab it and

    retrace your steps back to the main platform. Back at the main platform, runright until you reach a room below you containing an orange Warp Pipe. Dropdown into the room and enter the Warp Pipe. You'll appear at the beginning ofWorld 2!

    Alternatively, you can jump onto the small ? Block just past the checkpoint,then up onto the platform hidden above the back wall. You can then collect the1-Up and run right, bypassing the rest of the level.

    Enter the Warp Pipe at the end of the area. You would have seen it before goingto grab the third Star Coin. You'll appear outside. Jump onto the platforms.Just before they reach the top begin running forward and jump off the edge asthey are at their peak to reach the top of the Goal Pole. It's an easy one.

    First thing's first, look through the Binoculars. Look up at the top of themountains on your right, Toad will be on the peak of one of these mountains.Zoom in on him and he'll through a Star Coin down. Zoom out and follow it untilit stops. Take note of where it is and continue on. It's not actually necessaryto follow the Star Coin after it's been thrown out, but it means you'll have avisual idea of where it is, instead of relying solely on the text on the StarCoin below.

    Jump down and kill the two Piranha Plants and then the Koopa Troopa furtherdown. Keep going even further and defeat the two Biddybuds.

It's a ? Block with an unlimitedamount of coins so you're not wasting time running between blocks. once timeruns out you'll teleport back.

    Move right and deal with the three Biddybuds. Further down you'll see afive-high stack of Para-Biddybuds with two more to either side. If you want anextra 1-Up, you can try defeating all the Para-Biddybuds without touching theground, by bouncing on one, then immediately onto the next one and so on. Thismay be rather hard though and not really worth a potential 1-Up for the risk oflosing your power up.

    Further on you'll find the first Switchboard in the game. The Switchboards arethe green boards with arrows pointing in either direction. The direction theSwitchboard moves is the direction that arrow on the side you're on is

    pointing. Hop onto the further side and let the Switchboard move to the otherside, collecting the coins as you go. Grab the Checkpoint Flag.

    Up ahead are two Venus Fire Traps, basically Piranha Plants that spit fire.Stomp them. You can also Ground Pound the tree stumps. When the close-righttree stump is ground pounded twice, it produces a Tanooki Leaf. When the treestump further away is ground pounded, three coins are produced.

    If you want Star Coin #3, don't jump down from the platform you've landed on.Instead ride the clouds left. You can hop on the bottom cloud and jump throughthe red ring to spawn five red coins which you need to collect within a setamount of time. Collect them (they're not that hard) and a 1-Up will spawnwhere you are and immediately start moving to the right. The best strategy inthis case is to jump onto the right platform as soon as you get the last coin(make sure it's the top right of the five). If you don't, the 1-Up will almostalways fall straight off and be unreachable.

    jump as you go past the ? Blocks to grab a coin out of each. When it reachesthe end, jump onto the small wooden platforms. It's good to have a Tanooki Suithere otherwise you need to be careful jumping down onto these. If you do have aTanooki Suit, jump down and just before you land, hover and make sure you'regoing where you're meant to be. To get the 1-Up from the pole, simply run andjump from the lower wooden platform straight for the Goal Pole. Not too hard.

    Jump onto the Switchboard. Ride it down, collecting the coins as you go. Whenyou get to the Paragoomba, stomp it in mid-air. Remember that whenever you jumpwhilst on the Switchboard that it keeps moving while you go straight up in theair. They're strange mechanics, but that's how they work so keep that in mindwhenever you jump on one.

    After the Paragoomba there will be a ? Block containing a Tanooki Leaf. Youneed to make sure that the Switchboard doesn't keep moving and the Tanooki Leaf

    just falls away. For that reason it's best to get it mid-air, as soon as itappears and then continue on your way. Dodge or stomp the next threeParagoombas as needed. It's not really too hard.

    Keep moving on. You'll eventually rocket down a steep slope that you won't beable to get back up. Be ready to dodge the Paragoomba at the bottom. Continuingon and you'll reach an area with brick blocks used as obstructions. As you aremoving through dodge around the brick blocks. They aren't dangerous as if you

    are pushed back you'll just get pushed onto the other side and make theSwitchboard change directions and stop pushing you off it, so don't worry toomuch. Dodge through these and you'll reach the end. Jump off and grab theCheckpoint Flag.

    As you are switching between Switchboards a Venus Fire Trap will be shootingat you. Keep moving and you'll be fine. As you are moving through, you'llnotice the earthen platform to the north of the rail. Jump off and hit thepurple ? Block to enter the bonus area. In there, hit the left Large ? Blockfirst and grab the Tanooki Leaf, followed by the middle one and then the rightas it continues a number of coins. After that just let the timer run out. Onceyou appear back in the exterior hit the two ? Blocks to either side and jumpback on the Switchboard.

    | Make sure you dodge the Paragoomba that appears | | suddenly. Either stop the Switchboard | | completely, or at least make sure it's moving | | to the left as it hits the left geyser so that | | it's pushed up onto the rails above.     Move back to the lower rail and move right through both geysers, staying on thelower rail the entire time. Grab the Green Clock at the end of the rail andcontinue back to the right geyser. This time make sure you're stationary ormoving a little to the right when the geyser pushes it up to the rail above.Keep moving right. As you're moving right make sure you're at the centre and at

    the very right edge of the Switchboard so that you collect all the coins whenyou slide down the slope. And that's it! You'll be shot into the air by ageyser and land safely on the rail below. Just enjoy the ride and marvel at thescenery.

    When you land on the rail, move the Switchboard south-west instead ofnorth-east. Follow the rail to the end, there's a ? Block there. Hit it andgrab the 1-Up inside. Move the Switchboard north-east. When you get to the end,jump off of the Switchboard and into the Warp Pipe. If you want three extracoins and you're Tanooki Mario, you can hop onto the top of the Warp Pipe thenjump up, wall jump off of the wall and hover onto the platform connected to thesame wall. If you move three the shrubs, you'll receive a coin from each. Afterthat, simply enter the Warp Pipe.

    Jump up the stairs and hop onto the Switchboard. Position yourself on it sothat you have a bit of a run up. Run up and jump off the very edge just as it'sabout to fall to the lower rail to reach the top of the Goal Pole and get amagnificent 1-Up!

    2.1.5 World 1-Castle [MWW15] \+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Here we go! This should be fun ;) Hop down to the next floor and stomp theDraglet, hop down to the next floor and do the same to the next one. Continueon until you see two Firebars stacked one on the other. You can jump over thelower one, but you need to crouch to get under the higher one. Moving past,you'll jump onto a rotating gear.

    o-------------------o-----------------------------o |Star Coin Alert! #1| | o-------------------o | | In the centre of the rotating gear is the Star | | Coin. All you have to do is time it so that you | | don't collide with the Podoboo as you grab it. | | As soon as the Podoboo starts moving down after | | reaching its peak, run and jump over the gap to | | grab the Star Coin. | o-------------------------------------------------o

    Hop onto the next rotating gear and jump over the Firebar. This one's muchlonger so it's easier to get over it. Hopping off the gear you'll come face toface with a Dry Bones. Stomping and ground pounding won't actually kill it,only temporarily break it apart. A few seconds later it'll put it back

    together. You can destroy it with a fireball though. Hit the Large ? Block toget two coins and a Tanooki Leaf. Jump onto the platform, let it get pushedinto the air by the lava geyser and hop off on the chain platform. Watch outfor the large lava geyser near the beginning of the chain platform, it canshoot up quite suddenly. Keep going to the row of three Podoboos. Let them fallbefore passing through.

    Keep going but be careful of the chain platform connecting the two stoneplatforms, a lava geyser shoots up from there. Past that is the CheckpointFlag. Grab it.

Continue right pastthe Dry Bones and you'll have your first sighting of Bowser! Or is it?

    Bowser will begin shooting fireballs down the centre of the path leading towardhim. Stay to the side and run down the path to the end and turn left. Becareful of the Dry Bones as you go. After Bowser finished his current string offireballs, he'll jump over closer to you, but still over the other side of thelava on the wooden bridge. The fireballs he shoots now home in on Mario to somedegree. Keep moving forward and you'll be perfectly safe.

    Now you need to get past him. It was so much easier in the original Super MarioBros. series where he was around your size and you could just jump over him andcut the bridge. Here though, he's way too big to jump over. Instead, becausethe bridge is wide enough, you can actually run past. Barely. Just stay to thesouth edge and sprint past. You need to make sure you run past before the firstfireball is shot from the new string otherwise you're going to have to dealwith that and trying to run past. Once you're past run as fast as you can butstop early enough otherwise Bowser will suddenly jump and land just in front of

    you without enough time to react so that you take damage. Once he has landed,do the same as before. Run past before the first fireball is shot. This time hewon't jump far enough back so you can just keep running. Run to the end of thebridge and jump onto the big black button with the red Bowser head on it. Thebridge will fall through and Bowser will be revealed as just a Goomba with aTanooki Leaf. Quite an entertaining notion that you almost got owned by aGoomba actually.

    Once the battle's done, the castle door will open. Hop on through and hit theorange Warp Box to teleport up to the roof of the castle. Grab the Green Clockfor extra coins for having more time when finishing and hop up the crates.When you're at the top of the crates, take a run up and jump at the flag.Getting a 1-Up here isn't tricky.

    Go up onto the ledge and then move onto the Green ! Button. Follow the platformas it appears. Do it quickly because the platform disappears very fast. Hit the? Block at the middle of the platform repeatedly to milk it for coins. Once itis completely used, continue and grab the last coin on the right side of theplatform then allow the platform to disappear underneath you and fall to theground below.

When the path moves onto its side, wait for itto come back the right way up and jump the gap that's created (you can use thethree coins as a guide for the path through the air you need to take). When youreach the end of the path and you're up on the elevated platform you can followthe trail of coins left across the gap by jumping across. You need to time thisjump carefully and get it right on the edge of the platform otherwise you'llfall in. Use Tanooki Mario's hover to make the jump much easier if you havehim. On the left platform you'll find a ? Block containing a Fire Flower. Grabit if you wish. Jump back to the right platform. Again be very careful. If youhave the Tanooki Suit, switch back to it and jump and hover back to the mainplatform. Personally, I wouldn't worry about grabbing it without a TanookiSuit. The payout's not worth the risk (a Fire Flower and a few coins a bitlater) of dying and starting over again.

    On the platform step on both of the Green ! Buttons and follow the path down.Take the two Paragoombas out as you go down. On the minor elevated ridge on theleft side of the Checkpoint Flag is a coin. Grab it and it'll trigger theappearance of a trail of coins. Follow the trail to the Checkpoint Flag andthen run through it. Keep going to your right, up the stairs. See the unlitbrazier in the far right corner? If you are Fire Mario, jump up and shoot afireball into it. A trail of coins will lead to the second Star Coin.

    Moving right up to the top edge of 8-Bit Luigi, jump out into the air and hoverdown, steering Mario so that he lands on the P-Switch to the left of the yellowrings. This will cause rainbow notes to appear. Propel yourself into the airabove the rainbow notes, hover until you're totally sure you're directly aboveall of the rainbow notes then let yourself fall normally, collecting all therainbow notes and going through the two yellow rings as you go down. When youget all of the rainbow notes, a 1-Up will appear, moving north. It will moveoff the edge and become unreachable very suddenly, so be prepared.

    Look out north into the open air. You'll notice five Paragoombas in differentplaces in the air. You want to get all of them without touching the ground foran extra 1-Up. To do that, propel yourself into the air and hover down on theone closest to you, correcting your position as needed. When you land on it,you are now allowed to propel yourself into the air again. Do so and hit thenext one. Keep doing so until they're all defeated. Make sure to go through theyellow ring too. You can actually get a the sixth one on the P-Switch if youhover over to it immediately after defeating the last Goomba. After that, landon the P-Switch and follow the coin trail. It goes up into the air too, so makesure you have a Propeller Box on your person (see what I did there? ;D). If youdo need an extra Propeller Box, the ? Block at the bottom right corner of the8-Bit Super Mushroom you're currently on is one.

    To get the five red coins that appear when you go through the red ring is hard.Stand on the brick block and propel yourself into the air. Air-stomp theParagoomba and move through the red ring. You can try and propel yourself afteryou do that to try and get the red coins quickly if you wish, but this can bedifficult, especially when you only have one try. If you don't succeed withthat, fall back to the ground quickly tail spin the brick block (you need to beTanooki Mario to do this) and then tail spin the crank that appears. Keep goinguntil you can see the shadow of the red coins, then crank once more tocompensate for the falling of the crank as you're running to get underneath theshadow, move underneath the shadow of the red coins and then propel yourselfinto the air to grab them. A 1-Up will appear if you manage it. Grab it andcontinue on.

    Move up to the top of the 8-Bit Super Mushroom and ground pound the two Large? Blocks to get the coins from them. Jump onto the Paragoomba and propelyourself into the air. Hover over to the Paragoomba on the blue platform. Ifyou need to, you can hit the ? Block here to get another Propeller Box.Jump off from the yellow platform going to the Paragoomba on your right. Stompit and immediately hover onwards onto the blue platform. Grab the coins.

    Alternately, you can get all the Paragoombas starting with the original one atthe top of the 8-Bit Super Mushroom without touching the ground. This will giveyou a much larger payout of 1-Ups and you can even continue onto the threeGoombas on the 8-Bit Peach and even the two Coin Coffers who you need to hitmultiple times.

    Back to where we were. Propel yourself over the small gap to grab the GreenClock. From there, propel yourself onto 8-Bit Peach. If you need anotherPropeller Box, go to the bottom right corner of Peach and hit the ? Blockthere.

Use your invincibility to defeat theGoombas and Coin Coffers, for a 1-Up. Defeat the Coin Coffers last so that youcan collect the ring of coins they give when you kill them straight away. Moveup to the Warp Box and hit it. If you're up for more of a challenge, you canalways just hit the Goombas with invincibility and once it wears off, trystomping both of the Coin Coffers until they die, not touching the ground once.

    That's 10 hits in a row and equals to six 1-Ups.

    You'll appear in an old 'Super Mario All-Stars' port of 'Super Mario Bros. 3'style area. Move to the back of the platform and hit the two ? Blocks (one evenhas the classic look :D). Hop up the stairs and jump onto the top of the GoalPole. I recommend you don't use your Propeller Box here as it's more likely tojust disorientate your position. Instead just run up and jump.

    With the introduction of Flip-Swap Panels, this level may be a little tricky.The best thing to do is play around with them so see how they work, so have aplay around with the first Flip-Swap Panels that you come across, as fallingthrough won't be fatal.

    Jumping causes every Flip-Swap Panels in the entire level to flip, so that onlyred or blue panels can be stood on at any one time. So when you want tojump onto a panel, you need to actually jump towards where the panel will

    appear after you jump. You're more or less, predicting where the panels willappear when you go to jump onto them. The best strategy I've found is to thinkas if the gaps are in fact the panels.

    Now onwards to the walkthrough itself. Move up to the first Flip-Swap panel.Jump once first so that the blue Panels are facing up. From there jump towardswhere the red panel will appear, then jump to where the blue panel will appear.Don't break the brick block above the red panel otherwise it will switch to theblue panel and you'll fall down and have to climb up and jump over again. Onceon the blue panel, simply jump to the other side.

    Keep moving up to the next set of panels. Make sure the blue panels are facingup, then jump onto where the red panel will appear, then jump to where the bluepanel will appear and jump diagonally to the other side.

    At the next part there are three Stingbies. Don't ever deal with them whenyou're on the Flip-Swap panels as you need to jump to defeat them and jumpingcauses the panels to switch, generally ending with Mario falling to his death.Instead you can lure the first two to the wooden platform you're on and thendefeat them there so you don't have to worry about them later. It's best tosimply dodge Stingbies when you're on the panels, but if you need to defeatthem, make sure you're thinking ahead to where the panels are going to be whenyou jump so that you stomp the Stingby and can just land on a panel.

    To get across the next set of panels, make sure the blue panels are facing up.If they aren't jump so that they are. From there, jump to the red panel thatwill appear next to the wooden platform and then walk across to the red panelon your right and jump to the right where the blue panel will be. Jump off ontothe wooden platform.

    Hit the left brick block here for a Tanooki Leaf. Up ahead is a Goomba BaddieBox. There's no way to destroy the Baddie Box, but you can stomp as manyGoombas as you want (time permitting) to grab a few extra coins. Continuing on,you'll come across the first Star Coin.

    It's a long drop to the next Flip-Swap Panel. Make sure the red panels arefacing up when you jump down onto the blue panel. From there, diagonally(north) to the red panel. Be careful as you're now able to get hit by therotating Spikebar here. When it's clear, jump onto the blue panel where thefour coins are and then right, onto the red panel. Walk right to the red panelthat the Flying ? Block flies over.

    At the wooden platform there's another Goomba Baddie Box. Run past it and northup the stairs. Deal with the Stingby there and hop up onto the elevatedplatform to your right. When you're on the right edge of the platform, you'llbe able to see the Flip-Switch panel there. Make sure the red panel's facing upand then jump to where the blue panel will appear. Make sure you don't falldown here or you'll miss out on your 1-Up. From there jump onto the red panel.Get a run up from the left side and jump on the right edge and onto the top ofthe Goal Pole for your 1-Up. You need Tanooki Mario if you want to get itthough. You run up, jump and then hover over to the top of the Goal Pole.

    The first ship level you come across in the game. You get shot from a cannononto the ship and start on the prow. You need to make your way right, until youreach the Warp Pipe on the other side of the ship. When you enter it a bossbattle ensues. When you defeat the boss you've finished World 2! With everynon-special world ship level, the screen is slowly moving right. If you're not

    quick enough and end up off-screen on the left side, you die. You have no timeto linger in this level.

    Jump over the three Rocket Engines. You can tell when they're about to turn onas a small amount of smoke comes out. Hop on the tightrope. Allow the twoBullet Bills that get shot from the two Bill Blasters to fly past before youcontinue on. Make sure the screen has also moved right enough so that you canclear the Bullet Bill's path straight away when moving across. Jump off thetightrope and jump down. Make sure to avoid the Bill Blasters and jump up ontothe ledge holding the Warp Box. Hit the Warp Box to teleport to the shipbehind.

    There's a bonus 1-Up here too, if you want it. The ? Block that contains it isinvisible. It's located just to the right of the bottom right corner of the

    platform containing the Warp Pipe. Jump when you're underneath it to get it.Just north of it is another invisible ? Block that contains a coin. Emotionallyprepare yourself for the coming boss battle and enter the Warp Pipe, you'llneed it (I joke, the boss battle's pretty simple).

    You'll come out of the pipe in a small-ish room and Boom Boom will appear. ThisKoopa is an old veteran, originally appearing in Super Mario Bros. 3, in theFortresses of each world.

    Boom Boom spins towards the player for a fairly short amount of time. Dodgearound him and keep doing so until he gets too dizzy and stops spinning. Whenhe's in this stunned state you can stomp him. He takes three stomps tocompletely defeat. After being stomped he will retreat into his shell and then

    shoot around the room, bouncing off walls. You can predict his path fairlyeasily and jump out of the rode beforehand. After a while he'll come back outof his shell and start spinning until he gets dizzy again. Stomp him when hestops spinning and then repeat once more to win! Note that you can stomp thetop of his shell when he is bouncing off of the walls when inside it, althoughit doesn't do any damage to him.

    When he has been defeated, collect all the coins and enter the Warp Pipe. Whenyou come out of the Warp Pipe you'll grab a Green Clock. Follow the trail ofcoins up until you're on the left side of the ship. Walk onto the piece of wood

    jutting out of the left side. At the end of it is a 1-Up. Once you've collectedit, go back and continue up to the final step. Take a run up and jump off intothe Goal Pole. If you jump right on the edge and have gotten a proper run upyou'll reach the top of the Goal Pole and get the 1-Up.

    This is by far the most open-ended level in the game. It really feels out of

    place if you ask me. You can actually complete the level without even goinginside. Below I'm giving just one way you can fully complete this level,although there are a number.

To do that, wait for the yellow | | platform to move down as low as it will go then | | aim much higher than the platform to compensate | | for gravity and fire! You should land on the | | yellow platform, if not, then try again until | | you do. You might need to try a few times. When | | you do manage it, grab the Star Coin and jump | | back down to the ground. | o-------------------------------------------------o

    There are a few things to do before you continue to make use of the cannon onthe platform. First go to the side of the cannon platform that doesn't containthe pool of water. Hit the ? Block there for a coin and continue going downthat side. There are two Sandmaarghs around here, so watch out and defeat themif you want to. Move along the edge of the level to find two more ? Blocks, oneof which contains a number of coins. Move back to the platform with the cannonon it and go the other way around the main building. Go into the shallow poolof water and grab the coins that are circling above it. Keep going and hit theP-Switch. This will trigger a very long trail of rainbow notes. Follow it,collecting the notes as you go. You may need to stop and wait for Pokeys tomove out of the way at point, but don't stop for too long otherwise theSandmaarghs will catch up to you. Once you get all the notes, a Tanooki Leaf(or a 1-Up if you are already Tanooki Mario) will appear. Collect it.

    Go right from there towards the edge of the map and grab the Green Clock. Movedown from there to find a ? Block. Hit it and hop inside the Propeller Box thatappears. Use that to grab the coins to either side of the ? Block. Just movearound this area and hit the ? Blocks for more coins. You can stomp theSandmaarghs when they appear for even more coins if you wish. Move back to theplatform with the cannon on it. Use the Note Blocks to jump up onto theplatform and hop into the cannon. Look for the fake 1-Up in a small room on alower level of the main structure. Aim a little above the room to compensatefor gravity dragging you down and fire into it. You can get there without thecannon by wall jumping off the wall below it and hovering inside, but youobviously need Tanooki Mario to do that.

    Move to the back of the room and hit the ? Blocks for coins. The odd gap

    between the ? Blocks is in fact an invisible ? Block. Jump up underneath thegap for a 1-Up. After you're done here jump out and propel yourself using thePropeller Box to reach the level above. Hop up the Note Block (you can defeatthe Fake Block if you want). If you don't have the Propeller Box or if you wantto grab a yellow ring (it'll just give you five extra coins), jump down to theground instead and jump back up onto the platform with the cannon. Jump backinside the cannon, but this time aim for the yellow ring (you need to look upand right to find it). This will also take you up to the level above.

    To get past the Thwomp, move up right beside it. Let it thwomp into the ground.

    right to collect three more coins from the pool on this level. Move back leftand climb up the next pole. Jump onto the platform at the top. There will beone last Wallop that you need to deal with. Stay at the far edge of theplatform when you jump so that the Wallop gives you enough room to get past. Assoon as you jump run past and keep running so you have enough speed to reachthe top of the Goal Pole. And you're done!

    Run forward and jump into the water. Let yourself fall to the bottom. Moveforward past the first Cheep-Cheep. Collect the coins and go through the yellowring. Enter the Warp Pipe

    Move south and then right. Hit the P-Switch and follow the trail of coins thatappears. Hit the right brick block for a Fire Flower. You can use the FireFlower to defeat the Cheep-Cheeps. Use it to defeat the one just here. Jump outof the water on the right side here to grab a Blue Clock. Jump back in andbreak the crates. You'll notice the Super Mushroom behind them. Grab it andcontinue on. Move through the two yellow rings and grab the coins as you go

    too. Be careful of the Blooper here, they can be a real pain. You can hit itwith a fireball or ground pound it if you are above it. Hit the Large ? Blockhere for a few coins. Let yourself fall through the red ring and then power upabove the Large ? Block to grab the five red coins there. If you get them allyou'll receive a Tanooki Leaf. Hit the brick blocks as you move right. You candefeat the three Cheep-Cheeps and go through the yellow ring.

Hitthe bottom brick blocks to get at the top ones which both contain a coin.The bottom two brick blocks further on contain a bunch of coins.
