NEVILLE ANDERSON Rode 662 winners at Caymanas Park and had a brief stint in Florida. Popularly known as Chaka Chaka or Safraz. Had Derby victories 1982 with Cesario , 1983 with Hello Poochie Lui and Dorval in 1995. Won the Jamaica Oaks with Hello Poochie Lui in 1983 and with Milford Sound in 990. Also won the Jamaica St. Ledger In 1980 with Capitol Hill, the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup in 1981 with After Eight, the Jockey Club Stakes with Kowri in 1977 and with Ettu in 1983 both horses were trained by Mrs. Eileen Cliggott. Neville also won the Governor’s Cup with Rimsky in 1975, the Caribbean Cup aboard Bumble Bee in 1980 and Terrific Tune in 1992. An overly aggressive rider at times good on or off the pace. EMELIO RODRIQUEZ Called The Chest and Bimbo. One of the most popular jockeys to ride at Caymanas Park. He had over 1000 victories at Caymanas Park plus many more at tracks in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Maryland. Champion jockey in 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1987 where he had an average of 35.1 for his 87 wins from 248 mounts. Won the Jamaica Derby in 1975 with Tudor Wit for trainer Sydney Watson. He again won the 12 furlong classic in 1979 with one of the greatest rides seen at the park on Lucky Ole Sun. He also won astride Thornbird in 1984. He won his first Jamaica Oaks in 1973 with the horse Charisma, followed by wins in 1979 with True Colours, 1982 Kaz Hoshay, 1984 Thornbird and 1985 with Poetry in Motion. He rode Séance to victory in the 1982 Jamaica St. Ledger. He captured the Caribbean Cup with Legal Light in 1982, the Red Stripe Super Stakes astride, Kaz Hoshay in 1982, the Harry Jackson Memorial Cup in 1983 with Spectacular One. Rodriquez now lives in the USA and is a licensed trainer there. FITZROY GLISPIE Now a licensed trainer, Fitzroy rode 310 winners from 1886 mounts. Punkin or Rasman as he is called was known as the big race jockey having won the Jamaica Derby 1977 with Legal Light, with Zell in 1978 and Black Knight 1980. He lost the 1979 race by a nose astride Lover Boy Ces in third place to Atta Boy in second and the winner Lucky Ole Sun. He won the Superstakes with Thunderbird in 1980 and Legal Light in 1981. He first rode in 1973 winning seven races that year. He finished fourth in the Jockeys Championship in 1977 and 1978. Wining the big ones was a natural for Fitzroy capturing 1982 1000 Guineas with Sky Train and the 2000 Guineas with Xtra Classy in 1975, Cesario in 1982 and Explosive Star in 1983. He also won the Jamaica Oaks in 1981 with Forceful Native, the Jamaica Turf Club 2-Year-Old Stakes in 1980 with Superman, and with Sky Train in 1981. He scored in the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup with Silly Season in 1974. Fitzroy rode some of the best horses during his time in the saddle. GLADSTON WILLIAMS Affectionately known as Bobby he rode 51 winners and was apprenticed to Laurie Silvera following in the footsteps of Hall of Famer Winston Ellis. Had 12 wins from 127 mounts in his first year of riding in 1968. His first win came aboard the Oswald Lee trained Thunderball. He won the 1969 running of the Owners Association Trophy race over 1 ¼ miles with Wood Nymph and the 1970 Jockey Club Stakes with the Billy Williams trained Mabrouk. He rode the Laurie Silvera trained Bloodwind to a number of victories and won in 1969 Smedley Cup Race with The Flyer. He also rode Julie Andrews to victory in the 1969 staging of the Sir George Seymour Seymour Memorial Cup. TENSANG CHUNG Apprenticed to Noel Ennevor he won a total of 167 races from 1537 mounts at Caymanas Park. Chung won on his first mount on May 27, 1979. He rode the Harry Jaghai trained Marley Barley to victory in the Governor General Stakes of 1994. His 19 wins in 1981 gave him 14 th spot in the Jockey’s Championship. He guided the Sydney Watson trained General Q to victory in the Caymanas Park Trophy race in 1981 and on April 8, 1981 won the day’s first race with Touch of Brandy. The 5 th with Village Rocket and the 8 th with Narcist. This from just four rides. Tensang Chung is now a licensed trainer at Caymanas Park. CLIFTON MORGAN Clifton Morgan had 179 wins at Caymanas Park and a number of winners at USA Tracks in Florida and Ohio. Captured the 1972 running of the Jamaica Oaks with Zareba for his apprentice master Aston Cammock. On March 9, 1974 rode Japiur to victory in the Epigram Stakes beating George Hosang into 2 nd place on Jumbo Jet. “Duce” Morgan, as he is known to racing fans, finished 2 nd to Hosang in the 1974 Jockey’s Championship and rode three wines on November 30 th with the horses Bobby Socks, Boadicea and Pardasie. Morgan now a licensed trainer in Florida never had weight problems and might have had more success if he rode for some of the high powered stables during his time at Cay- manas. He won the Norman Manley Cup race of 1974 with Cindys Relic, the Abbie Granuum Memorial Cup in 1972 with Most Noble and in 1973 with Appeal Court. JAMES DOUTHALL Rode 116 wins from 1859 mounts at Caymanas Park. James also rode winners in the USA while riding at tracks in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and New England and is today a trainer at Suffolk Downs Race Track in Boston, Massachusetts. He continues to ride exercise in the mornings. Douthall rode the Billy Williams trained Zodiac to victory in the 1971 Governors Cup Event. He also piloted Reca to win the 1978 staging of the Ambassadors Trophy. He won the 1976 Stewards Cup for two-year-olds with Speak Louder. He was 11 th in the Jockey’s Championships of 1976 with 19 wins from 239 rides. WINSTON FORD Won 1969 Gold Cup over 7 furlongs with Salmon Spray for trainer Owen Silvera. Ford known as Normie, won the Ambassadors Trophy race of 1973 with the Mike Silvera trained Bold One. He had a total of 250 winners at Caymanas and would have many more had he not stopped riding so early. He was associated with the outstanding horse Papacito trained by Arthur Sharpe. On January 30, 1974 he rode Hickory Grey to victory over 6 ½ Furlongs out riding the likes of English jockey L. C. Parkes, George Hosang, Emelio Rodriquez and Neville Anderson in the process. He also won the 1974 Joe Decordova Cup with Red Rocket. Aggressive rider, strong right hand whip, hard to beat on the lead, now an exercise rider in New York. DONOVAN LINDO Won 258 races at CaymanasPark. Presently an exercise rider in Florida where he resides. Lindo who was apprenticed to the trainer Eileen Cliggott was dubbed Bugg by racing fans and found his way to the winners circle on a number of outstanding horses. Among his many winners were Balladier in 1974 Governor General Stakes, Nell Gynn in the Prime Minister’s Stakes of 1970, Vivacious in the 1974 Stewards Cup for 2-year-olds and Pippin in the Jamaica Turf Club 2-year-old Stakes of 1975. Buggs who finished 5 th in 1974 Jockey’s Championships also won the Gerald Farquharson Cup race with Papyrus in 1974. LINTON CALDER Finished 9 th in the Jockey’s Championship of 1972 with 22 wins. Has a total of 53 winners at Caymanas Park. Won the 1971 Gold Cup with Alliance trained by Mike Silvera beating 3 time winner Kilowatt into second place. Calder whose brother W. Calder rode before him in the 1960’s rode 3 winners at the Park on May 27, 1972 in Elfin Prince in the first race, Achilles in the 4 th and Horoscope in the 8 th race. He had just 5 rides on the card. After his 22 victories in 1972 he had just 6 wins in 1973, 5 in 1974 and 3 in 1975. He quit riding and is now a licensed trainer. ANTONIO BARKER Barker WAS apprenticed to Sydney Watson. He won 31 races in a very short career, hampered by weight problems. His first winning mount came in December 1967 when he rode the Wallace Nickle trained Tasmin to victory. His 2 nd winner was the Sydney Watson trained Sunny Sky over 7 furlongs in January 1968. Antonio ‘Luby Luby’ Barker won the 1968 running of the Ambassador’s Trophy race with Ella trained by R. A “Bobby” Hale. He won 12 races in 1969, one less than in 1968. After winning the last race on June 4, 1969 with Indian River he won the first race the next race meet on June 7 th with Joe Mannix both for trainer Watson. He also won the day’s 6 th event, the Alty Armond Memorial Cup with Indian River. He was second with Oberon in the 1968 Harry Jackson Memorial Cup race behind Cup-O-Tea. Barker is now a licenced trainer at Caymanas Park. VASSELL NAJAIR Vassell Najair who was apprenticed to Mrs. Eileen Cliggott has ridden over 225 winners here in Jamaica plus a number of wins at US Tracks in Florida, New Jersey and Louisiana. In Florida at the Tampa Bay Downs Race Track, he rode Schante to an upset win in the Swash Buckler Stakes defeating the hot favourite Perplex with Jamaican Champion jockey of 1970 and 1971, Richard DePass in the saddle. Jollyman as he is called has ridden some of Jamaica’s top horses including Eight Thirty, Polka Dotty, Bounty Hunter, Valentino, Salmon Spray, Symphony and Art Princess. He won the Atlantic Cup race in 1968 with Art Princess defeating the mighty Ramases with Donald Andrade into 2 nd place. He also won the 1970 Jockey’s Association race with High Lea for trainer Owen Silvera and won the Midsummer 2- year-old Stakes of 1970 with Rahtid. DAVID McKENZIE David McKenzie started riding way back in 1963 when he was apprenticed to his father the late Alty Mckenzie. He won his first race with the Billy Wiliams trained St. Valentine. He captured the 1966 Ambassador’s Trophy’s race with Cinders Slipper, the 1967 Harry Jackson Memorial Cup with Persian Coin and finished second in the Jamaica Derby of 1967 with Prosperity behind the winner Creation. He also won the 2000 Guineas with Royal Crest 1970 and again with King Pin 1973 and won the Jamaica St. Ledger astride Pheidippides in 1974. McKenzie called Scorcher is a strong rider and he had the distinction of winning with the horses Puffers for Oswald Lee and Moulin Rouge for r. A. “Bobby” Hale, while both suffered a slip saddle during the running of their respective races in 1968. Won the Abbie Grannum Memorial Cup in 1965 with Charleston and from 5 rides on August 20, 1966, he won 3 races with The Ripper in the 1 st race, Desiree in the 8 th race for the Norfolk Cup and the 9 th race with See and Go. Had 3 wins from 3 rides on June 6, 1970. A winner of over 270 races he finished second in the 1966 Jockeys Championship. RORY BROWN Winner of 53 races including the 7 furlong Gold Cup race of 1974 with the Oswald Lee trained Miss America. On the day, he won a second race with the Ken Mattis trained Touch of Gray in the Cracker Jack Handicap. The God Cup race saw him defeat Charles Hussey into second place on Ramvin and George HoSang into third place on Eight Thirty. Brown won the 1975 running of the Collin Melhado Cup race with Junus for trainer Tom Rochester; the 1974 Coronation Stakes with the Arthur Sharpe trained Lance’s Song, The Alhambra Handicap with Gold Diver, the Brandram Henderson Trophy race with Jungle Prince, the St. Catherine Cup of 1974 with Gold Diver defeating Neville Anderson aboard the favourite Sherpa. The Appleton Handicap of 1974 with Appeal Court. Brown also rode top campaigners like Whisper, Jungle Beat, Mister C, En Route and Fair Queen. 1. The name of the promotion is “Horse Power To he People.”2. The promotion will take the form of the winner of a specific race

being purchased by the sponsor and given to a member of the publicin attendance at Caymanas Park.

3. The date of the promotion is Friday November 13, 2009.4. The sponsor of the promotion is Caribbean Producers Jamaica

Limited (CPJL) through their product “Power Wine.”5. Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) and CPJL will offer members of the

public in attendance at the track on the day of the promotion, theopportunity to participate by way of writing the answer to a questionas well as their names, telephone numbers and address on the back ofthe losing tickets and drop them in boxes provided for this purpose atvarious locations at the track.

6. All losing tickets from Race #1 until two races prior to the one onwhich the promotion is being conducted will be eligible forparticipation in the draw. The actual race number on the day will bedetermined when entries for the race close on Tuesday, November 10,2009 and we will advise the Commission of the actual race numberon the day by Wednesday November 11, 2009.

7. The question to be answered by the participants to satisfy the “skill”section of the promotion is “Which company is sponsoring the “HorsePower to the People” promotion. The answer is Caribbean ProducersJamaica Limited or CPJL.

8. After the closing of entries and prior to the running of the race a drawutilizing drums for same, will take place in the winner’s enclosure andwe will select the name of a participant from the tickets collectedfrom one drum and the name of a horse from those entered in the racefrom another drum and the name of the participant will match withthat of the horse selected. This will continue until a name is matchedwith every horse that is entered to run in the race.

9. No person can be assigned to more than one horse.10. The person whose name is matched with the winning horse will be

the winner of the promotion. Should that person not be at the track onthe day, CTL will undertake to contact that person by way of aminimum of four (4) telephone calls within 48 hours of the ending ofthe race. Failure to make contact will result in the person whose namewas matcher to the horse placing second in the race being deemed thewinner and so on until a winner is declared. The winner of thepromotion who will become the Owner of the horse will be boundedby the Jamaica Racing Commission Rules of Racing 1977 (RevisedJune 2009). The sponsor of the promotion will be responsible for thecare and keep of the horse to the Trainer selected by the winner for aperiod of six months from the date of the promotion. At the end ofthat period the winner of the promotion may retain the ownership ofthe horse or dispose of the horse as permitted by the Rules of Racing1977 (Revised June 2009).

11. No Owner, Trainer, Jockey or Groom who is licensed by the JamaicaRacing Commission for the year 2009 or employees or personnel ofthe Jamaica Racing Commission, the Betting Gaming and LotteriesCommission and Caymanas Track Limited will be eligible toparticipate in the promotion.

12. No person who is warned off the track or is on the Jamaica RacingCommission’s forfeit list will be eligible to participate in this promotion.

13. Should there be a dead-heat for first place in the race, the selection ofthe horse to be purchased will be done by way of a draw in thewinner’s enclosure whereby we will place the names of the horsesinvolved in the dead-heat in a drum and then draw one of them.
