Good morning, I wanted to follow up on this as I wasn't sure what the legislation/RMP are still pursuing on this. Can you comment?

Thank you,

Chris

Thank you. I'm not sure of the docket however it seems right. Whatever has been on the news lately is the one I'm targeting.

I have concern in why solar panels are the only targeted technology by RMP. There are many facets of a home which contribute to lower energy bills. Insulation investment greatly reduces the needs, quality in windows, design of the home and external materials drive passive solar loading along with landscaping design. Why not go after these as well? All contribute to lower energy bills and to similar effect as panels as in the end we're talking about efficiencies and materials which reduce power usage. The gas company isn't calling me to pay a fee due to me having solar hot water, so why should panels or other energy saving approaches be targeted? Gas company has lines run in the ground just like the power company. What if I use candles and shut off my solar panels, which would reduce my power use so my bill is same as it is currently with solar assist. Would I then also be billed a fee just because I have a net meter installed even though not producing? On paper the same size home would have the same power bill, except one home has solar assist and one uses candles. This unfairly discriminates against panel users who are trying to do a better part for the world and already incurred significant costs for procurement/installation? Meter costs more, connection fee is more to the user while RMP cost is same. Really struggling to see how other residential users without solar are footing the bill for those of us with solar. I produce for the grid if I don't use what I produce, which RMP gets to manage however they see fit and sell at higher rates if they want based on time of day, but I suppose I can't charge a fee for my over-production to RMP when this occurs, I just get a use or lose credit on a yearly basis with no carry over.

Very discouraging with the water and energy conservation efforts needed to sustain our society this approach is being proposed, which will deter others from doing the planet good.

Thanks, Chris

Dear Commissioner White,

Eliminating net metering is anti-consumer and should not be considered as good policy.

Rooftop solar provides consumers choices in energy.

Rooftop solar creates local Utah jobs.

Rooftop solar provides for these things today, not in a gradual and unpredictable future transition envisioned by RMP.

Support us as consumers by denying the request to eliminate net metering and any future moves to eliminate choices and jobs in Utah.

Sincerely,

Brad Midgley

Utah Public Service Commission

Dear Service Commission,

PacifiCorp's 20-year plan is deeply flawed as it continues to rely heavily on fossil fuels and does not include a utility funded increase in renewable energy sources. I am very disappointed that PacifiCorp is planning to spend an estimated $1 billion or more on pollution controls to prolong the life of over a dozen aging coal smokestacks, and keep Utah hooked on dirty and increasingly expensive coal-fired energy for many years. There are cleaner, safer, and less risky alternatives.

It is time for PacifiCorp to come clean and acknowledge the true cost of coal, including the economic costs of pollution controls and the human cost of public health and well-being. I do not want my energy dollars spent to prop up aging coal plants. I urge the Commission to critically evaluate PacifiCorp's long range plan and have them commit to an orderly and expeditious transition to clean energy, investing in the abundant and affordable renewable energy resources in Utah.

My support of Blue Sky is over if you are not going to be serious about clean energy.

Sincerely,

Ms. Barbara Wise 4755 S Pin Tail Ct Salt Lake City, UT 84117-4930 [email protected]

Dear Commissioner White,

Rocky Mountain Power has requested that Utah eliminate net metering, and allow RMP to levy charges on those households who have solar panels. This company wants to keep rooftop/photovolatic solar systems from helping the environment and keep our choices for renewal energy from increasing.

Solar systems allows customers to have some choice in the source of energy that we use. Having net metering helps customers to invest in solar energy. Therefore, I urge you not to allow RMP to impose unpredictable and unsubstantiated charges on solar customers . I urge you not to let Utah be the first to eliminate net metering. Solar helps keep energy rates low, and may help environment. Solar will and has brought jobs to Utah.

Sincerely,

Dear Chairman LeVar,

Here I go again, writing another letter because apparently my earlier one(s) didn't get the message through sufficiently.

The point is, NO, NO, NO to ANY kind of fee, surcharge, you name it, that Rocky Mt. Power wants to slam on its solar customers.

Oh, so Rocky Mt. Power would like to eliminate net metering? They signed an agreement with me to net meter! Are you really going to let them break this agreement?!

Solar customers:

1-have taken matters into their own hands; are being Wattsmart, and are lessening demands on Rocky Mt. Power. Rocky Mt. Power's disregard of this is extremely hypocritical and tells me they miss my money and want their fingers in my wallet. How obscene.

2-improve the air quality, which, if you follow any kind of headlines, is a concern to everybody. People have once again taken matters into their own hands and are cleaning up the air by investing in solar systems for their homes. Talk about putting their money where their mouth is ... and you want to discourage that?!

3-show old-fashioned self-sufficiency, which used to be a prized value in this society. Got news for you--it still is. It is also called being frugal, being green, being responsible. These are all values that you as our representatives and as our public service commission should be emphasizing. Anything other than this smells like corruption to me.

4-We are in the fortunate position to have a sunny climate where solar makes sense to utilize. The solar business is booming. It is a grass-roots industry and a non-polluting one at that. Do you really want to hurt the economic climate of this growing industry?!

WHY, WHY, WHY are you even entertaining the idea of hurting solar customers who have invested so much? What a waste of your time and resources!

If Rocky Mt. Power, and anyone else connected to them, continues these sneaky tactics, they will find very angry people who will disconnect ASAP from the grid. If they are careful and respectful, and truly have the values they tout in their monthly propaganda, they will still make some money as people remain tied to the grid and still use some power. Having enough solar customers ultimately means that Rocky Mt. Power will not have to build/renovate new power plants (which, if you recall reading their propaganda years ago, was a threat held over our heads). And maybe, just maybe, power rates will actually become more reasonable as Rocky Mt. Power, the traditional energy monopoly if there ever was one, will find they actually have to compete for once.

Sincerely,

Teresa Clawson

And maybe, just maybe, power rates will actually become more reasonable as Rocky Mt. Power, the traditional energy monopoly if there ever was one, will find they actually have to compete for once.

Dear Commissioner Clark,

Dear Commissioner Clark,

Sincerely,

L. Irene Terry

Dear Commissioner Clark,

Please support policies that encourage solar energy. This includes not charging fees to solar customers, and investing in solar technology for the whole state.

In a state that struggles to have clean air, reliance on coal plants is outdated and unhealthy. Coal is a limited resource, while solar is renewable. Solar power also attracts jobs in the growing green sector. Finally, solar power allows Utahns a choice in their energy providers.

Please allow citizens of this state the opportunity for cleaner and more sustainable energy choices. Please support solar.

Sincerely,

Marianne Nolte

Dear Commissioner Clark,

I no longer make enough money to install Solar as it stands. I do intend to move my home to Solar (if not completely, then mostly) in the future. By supporting Docket 14-035-114, it will secure my future in moving to a cleaner more affordable method of powering my home for me and my family.

I understand that moving to Solar makes Rocky Mountain Power apprehensive about the future of their company, but it also secures my family's future. Putting food on the table, clothes on my kids and paying for college in the not to far off future.

Every little bit helps, and letting the already very profitable utility companies continue to charge and change charges when we as customers shop around (for example; installing solar or wind power on our homes), makes growth as an individual difficult if not impossible in some cases (for instance, my income dropped substantially when I retired, my power bills are now a large part of my budget).

Thank you for your consideration,

Sincerely,

Justin Steiger

Dear Commissioner Clark,

Eliminating net metering is anti-consumer and should not be considered as good policy.

Rooftop solar provides consumers choices in energy.

Rooftop solar creates local Utah jobs.

Rooftop solar provides for these things today, not in a gradual and unpredictable future transition envisioned by RMP.

Support us as consumers by denying the request to eliminate net metering and any future moves to eliminate choices and jobs in Utah.

Sincerely,

Brad Midgley

Unless you are going to force RMP to pay me for the nearly 1000 KWH excess (Yes, MEGA WATT) I generate every year at market rate.
