Toxicity of the different 1,3,5-triazepin-2,6-diones towards hepatocytes in vitro. compounds were added at various concentrations to primary hepatocyte cultures and were incubated for 48 hours. Control wells were incubated with medium alone and values are shown for the different concentrations for comparative purpose. Toxicity was evaluated with a MTT assay, which determines mitochondrial activity. Live cells which possess active mitochondrial metabolized MTT into a formazan dye. The amount of formazan dye is detected by spectroscopy. Data are mean of duplicates and are presented in arbitrary units of optical density.
