'A sight for sore eyes!'

Well we made it! Yes European surfers everywhere have just

survived the longest known flat spell for some years! So it's no

wonder all eyes are on Dane Hall here, very much enjoying a green room with a view at the infamous

La Graviere in Hossegor, France. So our nineteenth issue is full of some

tantalising treats to take us all through the summer and into an autumn of awesome swell!

Yes that's what a decent wave looks like!Photo: Duncan Hall

Porthtowan, on the North coast of Cornwall, is arguably one of the best surfing spots in the area. That is when there's actually some swell on offer! But rest assured

when the Atlantic does chose to throw in some classic rollers then Porthtowan will no doubt be pumping!

Lushington's Lefts at the southern end of Porthtowan starts working around mid tide to low tide and offer

less crowded peaks as you have to paddle or walk around to the southern end. With an easterly or south easterl,y these lefts pump and hollow barrels beckon

you to pull in. It is at its hollowest at low tide.

Porthtowan is perfect in most conditions because of its shelter at high tide and its wide expanse of

the tide pushes out so chose your time wisely and you too should score some pumping Porthtowan!

So here comes summer! After years of quite disappointing summers in the UK, we've

certainly be basking in some delightful weather recently. Just a shame the waves haven't been up

to much! Still we've had plenty to keep us busy, voting for online videos of surfers desperate to

impress and get themselves into the next round! It may be an interesting way to generate

entrants into international contests but we've been delving beneath all the hype in search of

the true talented highlights. So we'll be bringing you the best of the Groms who would be King in

the next issue plus many more highlights that will celebrate the best of this year's summer and welcome in what autumn has to offer!

Surphang Surphang MagazineMagazineThanks for reading the Nineteenth issue of

Glenn Hall speaking after his injury sustained at Restaurants:

'This time I payed the price. I don't regret anything though, the reward if I made that wave would have been

so sweet and I would take that chance again today if I had it. And I

would still vote for Fiji for president. I will heal and be back on

the horse ASAP.'

No Guts, No Glory!
