Survey Monkey Results

Abigail Ronald

Candidate Number: 2121

Centre Number: 64135

What is your gender?

From the results I gathered from my questionnaire I found that there was an equal number of boys and girls that were interested in my magazine. This means that when creating my magazine I will need to target both genders and use features to attract them both. This is also good for the magazines profits because if both genders are interested the magazine, I have increased the possible market for my magazine.

What is your age?

After asking people my questionnaire I found that the majority of people asked (90%) were aged 18 – 24. After finding this as the key result I will now style my magazine around this generation. Also due to the fact the majority of people were this age I will use more colloquial language in the articles.

How much would you be willing to pay?

Looking at the results of what people said that they would be willing to pay I found that all the priced were surrounding £3. I also did further research into what my magazine of inspiration costs, (£3.99). After finding out this and looking at my results I have decided to charge £3.99 for my magazine.

Which colour scheme do you look for in a magazine?

As shown in the graph, 50% of people wanted to see a black and white colour scheme in my magazine. However, a close 40% also wanted some simplistic colour schemes. Due to the fact that only 10% wanted bright and bold colours, I will be mainly sticking to monochrome and some simplistic colour throughout my magazine.

What do you like a magazine to include?

After asking 10 people what they wish to find in my music magazine I found that the majority wanted music, fashion and film. 30% wanted music and film, equally, 30% wanted only music and fashion. After getting these results I have decided to include music, fashion and film.

Do you like your magazine to include interviews?

I then went on to ask people if they would like to see interviews included in my magazine. The results showed that 90% of people wanted interviews to be included. However, 10% did not want the magazine to contain interviews.

How often do you buy a magazine?

I then asked people how often they buy a magazine, I did this so that I could get an insight into how often I should release a magazine. Due to the vast majority saying that they buy magazines monthly (9/10 people) I will aspire to release a magazine once a month other than weekly as only one person wanted them to be released this frequently.

What attracts you to buy a magazine?

Looking at the different responses of this question, I have found that people are attracted to several different features of a magazine. For example 7/10 people said that the colours/colour scheme and images on/featured in a magazine is what attracts them to a magazine. One person said that the general front cover is what attracts them to buy a magazine. The final two responses say that the celebrity featured, and the advertisements attracts them. After finding this out I will make sure I choose an effective colour scheme as well as images to ensure I attract as many people as possible to buy my magazine.

How often do you view or access Facebook?

I decided to ask people how often they accessed Facebook. 70% of people said that they accessed Facebook on a daily basis, (30% multiple times a day). The other 30% said that they just checked it a few times a week. Due to all participants viewing their Facebook at least a few times a week, this means that it may be a good idea to advertise my first edition of the magazine on this media platform so that several more people become aware of it.

What information would you like to see us provide?

The people who responded to this Survey Monkey suggested a variety of things they wished for us to provide in my magazine. 3/10 people asked wanted information on fashion to be presented, 2/10 people wanted film interviews/reviews, the rest wanted chart information and other information to do with music and film.

Conclusion

• To conclude, after evaluating the results gained from a selection of people completing my survey monkey questionnaire, I have been able to make many decisions upon how I should style/produce my music magazine.

• Gaining the opinions from people of my target age group was a crucial stage of my planning and research, this is because I have now established how much my magazine should cost, what colour scheme it should uphold, as well as how often an issue of the magazine should be released.
