The most predominant gender was male. I expected this because most people who watch this program would be male. It shows that 2 thirds of the responses were from male so the results will have a very heavy influence from a male perspective.

In this part of the survey I asked people their age which was predominantly 17. This means that so far I will get a response from a majority of 17 year old males.

I asked this question to try and get some feedback on what devices people of this age and gender would normally watch Russell Howard’s Good News on. Was surprised to see that the majority answered for TV because these days teenagers are not likely to watch TV as often as they are normally targeted to use something more portable like a

smartphone, tablet or a laptop.

In this question I am not surprised to see that everyone agrees with the ideological viewpoints that Russell sends across to the people in the form and style of comedy. This could prove that people agree with what he has to say because he wins them over with his use of comedy to help the audience to understand.

In this part of the survey I asked if people wanted something to be improved about the show and we have a lot of mixed response from them. Three of the people who carried out the survey found nothing wrong with it or didn’t know enough about the program to try and improve it. One person said bigger budget which would be good as it could mean that he may get a bigger audience and would get more publicity. One other person said try to fit more information in if possible which would be a good idea because then the audience would engage with it more.

Here I asked people how often they watched the program. As the program is

released once every week I would have expected more people to say so however the majority said once every month which was surprising to me as 17 year old males is who the producers are targeting.

In this part of the questionnaire I asked the people about the uses and gratifications of the program which as you can see from my results was predominantly entertainment. I expected this because this program being within the comedy genre would be more inclined to be a source of escapism.

In this question I asked the audience what their political stance is after watching this program as Russell tends to sway towards the left side of politics with his beliefs and value this could be injected into the audience’s perceptions and opinions of the world. This is why I wasn’t surprised to see that the leading option for this question n that was answered was left.
