A sustainability audit will evaluate your organisation’s current

environmental impact, and give you practical recommendations on how to

reduce it. The Sustainable Engineering Collective specialise in doing this for

your working environment, ie the building you occupy.

We can identify how water and electricity usage can be reduced, where

your building would benefit from insulation, and how improved ventilation

can make the summer months more bearable. Whether you own the building

or rent, our recommendations will reduce your overheads and boost your

sustainability credentials.

How We Can Help .

We begin with the Red Phase, which is a detailed energy, carbon and water audit of your building. This assesses where you currently are. We also conduct an online employee survey about indoor environmental conditions. We present these findings to you in our Red Report.

The Green Phase then takes you where you want to be. We make bespoke sustainability recommendations and evaluate their financial and environmental benefits in our Green Report. Our solutions are workable as we develop them with you. We will guide you through the entire greening process.

Because you will want to tell everybody about what you are doing, our Sustainability Audit includes green marketing materials for your organisation. These will mark you out as a green leader to your clients and staff.

A difficult process made easy

The Red Phase is the first step. This is about understanding how much energy and water you consume.

What is the Red Phase?

At the end of the Red Phase you are provided with a report and marketing materials. This tells everybody that you’ve made a serious commitment to improve your environmental impact.

Our online employee survey helps us gauge comfort levels in the building – are certain areas under or overheated in winter? Does the air get stale in summer? We also look at attitudes towards reducing consumption, to understand how willing staff are to change behaviour.

The Red Phase is the first step in the process, but does stand on its own. It is a necessary starting point to reducing your environmental impact.

We begin with an in-depth survey of your premises. We collect information about your water fittings, heating system and the appliances you use, from kettles to computers. This typically takes a day, followed by a two-week monitoring period.

The Red Report describes the current environmental impact of your building. It details your energy and water consumption, and tells you how much carbon your building is responsible for.

We categorise your utility usage. For example, we divide your electricity consumption into categories such as lighting and computer use.

PosterWe graphically represent key results of our report to demonstrate your current carbon emissions. The posters direct employees to your in-house green champion.

Awareness markersThese are small card reminders designed to raise awareness of your calculated energy and water use, and incorporate your company branding. They are located near consumption points such as light switches, thermostats and taps.

Declaration graphicsTell your clients and customers about your organisation’s commitment to reducing your environmental impact. We provide images and graphics for use on websites and emails.

The report is written in plain, non-technical language. Your energy and water use, utility costs, and carbon emissions are displayed visually. We benchmark your performance against similar organisations.

The results of the online employee survey are shown. You can see how your staff feel about the current indoor environmental conditions and how receptive they may be to changing their usage habits.

What are the marketing materials?

Tell me more about the Red Report

The Green Phase takes you where you want to be. This is the important stuff. Using the data we collected in the Red Phase, we look at the ways your organisation can improve how it operates in its building.

What is the Green Phase?

We work with you to implement these changes. Our Green Talks with employees get them involved with the changes. We can help you select suppliers to meet your goals. And work with builders to ensure the recommendations are implemented within cost.

At this stage, the marketing materials really shout about your green values. You will now be able to communicate your targeted reductions and eventually, your achievements.

For each recommendation, we tell you the specific environmental and financial benefits, and provide full up-to-date costings.

Recommendations can be big and small. Both count. From reminding staff to turn computer monitors off to installing solid wall insulation.

Our Green Report gives you specific recommendations that will cut your carbon consumption. We use leading industry software to determine the most effective strategies for you. This involves designing a computer model of your building, which incorporates your electricity use.

Be a green leader
