SITUATION BEFORE
Exorbitant charges and overloading had resulted in dire need for a well planned city operation.
Though Operation of city buses formed a part the core activity of the Corporation, there were only 72 city services in the Corporation before the implementation of the project.
They were operated in only three cities of the Corporation.
Rest of the cities had no city services.
In the absence of public transport, IPTs and Personalised mode were the most preferred modes of transportation in these cities.
It had resulted in increased numbers of vehicles on the limited road network.

Awards and Appreciations The project has been recorded as one of the
best practices by the Institute of Urban Transport in the publication for the year 2013.
The Ministry of Urban Development GoI has conferred the Urban Excellency Award in the category of Best City Services to the project in the Urban Mobility India Conference on 28 Nov 2014.The Ministry of Power
GoI has presented National Energy Conservation Awards to NEKRTC for recording the best KMPL in city services .
