The bride-elect is a graduate of Amboy High School and Governors State Uni-versity. She is a fifth-grade teacher at King Elementary School in Rockford.
Her fiancé is a graduate of Amboy High School and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is assistant superinten-dent of golf maintenance at Prairieview Golf Club in Byron.

Laura Jeanne Kuhn and Nathan Anthony Underhile were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at The Brandywine in Dixon. The Honorable Charles Beckman offici-ated the celebration.
The parents of the couple are Jef-frey and Jeanne Kuhn and Lester and Laura Underhile, all of Dixon.
The bride was given in marriage by her father after the two of them walked down the aisle to a string quartet performing the bride’s favorite song, “Hallelujah,” by Leon-ard Cohen.
Serving as maid of honor was Kelly Wavra, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Jessica Boyles, sister of the groom; Emily Hackl, cousin of the bride; and Megan Kuhn, sister-in-law of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Bailey Underhile, niece of the groom; and the flower girl was Jorja Boyles, also a niece of the groom. The ladies entered the ceremony while the string quartet played “Starlight” by Muse.
Serving as the best man was Clin-ton Underhile, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Nathan Boyles, brother-in-law of the groom; Paul Kuhn, brother of the bride; and Bill Skeffington, friend of the groom. The junior groomsman was Brett Underhile, nephew of the groom; and the ring bearer was Ethan Henry Kuhn, nephew of the bride. The groom’s side of the wedding party
entered the ceremony to “The Impe-rial March” from Star Wars, also played by the string quartet.
Ushering the event were Kevin Harshman, friend of the groom, and John Volz, uncle of the bride.
Soloist Emily Hackl performed “All I Want Is You” by U2 during the cer-emony.
Readings from the works of Bob Dylan and Tyler Knott Gregson were done by Danielle Kotlajich, friend of the bride, and Melissa Ekwinski, sorority sister of the bride.
The reception, hosted by Sharon Thompson and Wendell Snell of Dixon, was at The Brandywine. As a nod to the groom’s love of super-heroes, each table at the reception was named for a different hero, and the couple cut their cake with a Star Wars lightsaber.
The flowers were designed by Weeds, and photographs were taken by Pattie Hummel. The cake and cupcakes served at the reception were created by Brandi Willey.
The bride is a graduate of Dixon High School and the University of Illinois. She is employed as a copy-writer at Professional Medical Inc.
The groom is a graduate of Dixon High School, Northern Illinois Uni-versity, and Governors State Uni-versity. He is employed as a licensed clinical social worker at Metropoli-tan Family Services.
After a honeymoon in the Caribbe-an, the couple reside in Woodridge.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents.
Serving as maid of honor was Mon-ica Hermes, sister of the bride.

Serving as best man was Mathew Peck, brother of the groom.

Scripture was read by Veronica Edwards and Mathew Peck. Prayers of the Faithful were read by Sarah Frances Peck. The reception, hosted by Mike and Veronica Edwards, was held at Dixon Elks Lodge.
The bride is a graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School and Purdue University School of Phar-macy. She is a clinical pharmacist at Medical Center of South Arkansas.
The groom is a graduate of St. Wen-delin High School in Fostoria, Ohio, and St. Louis University. He is a pro-cess engineer at Aerojet Rocketdyne in Camden, Ark.
The couple resides in El Dorado, Ark. They plan a honeymoon in the spring.

The groom is the son of Bill and Sue Hochgrebe of St. Louis.
Serving as maid of honor was Car-men Dieken, daughter of the bride.
The best man was Rich Wright, friend of the groom.
The bride is a graduate of Amboy High School and the University of Missouri, Columbia, completing her Master of Social Work degree in May 2013.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Missouri and Concor-dia Seminary in St. Louis.
In July, the couple moved to Fol-som, Calif., where the groom is pastor of Mount Oliver Lutheran Church, and the bride is employed by Elder Options.

Note: A group photo for a class reunion can be sub-mitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to [email protected] or in person.
Class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed.
Five-generation and four-generation photos with names and relation-ships of those pictured may be submitted for pub-lication.
There is a form avail-
able showing the infor-mation acceptable for the basic (free) form, which covers one photo.
Multiple photos from submitters will need to be on a paid basis.
Both reunions and gen-eration announcements are, of course, available on a paid (custom) basis in quarter-page, half-page, and full-page form.
Note: Large group pho-tos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement.
Other celebrations include retirements, pro-motions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more informa-tion than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions, customers may purchase a quarter-page (one photo – two if space
allows), half-page, (up to two photos) or full-page (up to four photos) paid announcement in Cel-ebrations on a custom basis.
Paid announcements can be proofread before publication.

Celebrating 100 in person and spirit
On Jan. 5, 1914, Marie Irene Vic-toria was born to Jens and Paulina Larsen, near Redwood Falls, Minn., the youngest of nine children.
Six months earlier on July 29, 1913, Ivan Leroy was born to Oliver and Irma Taylor in Amboy, one of seven children.
Later, Ivan traveled to Minne-sota to visit his older brother, Earl, who was now married to Christine, Marie’s sister. In 1936, the two were married in Iowa, where Marie was attending school and working. They settled in Sterling shortly after this.
Their daughter, Jannet, was born in 1941. With Ivan in the Army, they lived in various states ending up in Fort Lewis, Wash., where, at the end of 1942, their son, Terry, was born.
Ivan left from there to go overseas in mid-1943. He was killed in Luzon,
the Philippines, near the end of the war. Marie, with her two young chil-dren, returned to Sterling, when Ivan went overseas.
Marie and her daughter still live in the home Ivan and Marie built.
Terry and his wife, Sandra, live in Renton, Wash. Their children, Tom, and his wife, Lisa, with their two boys, Trevor and Jake, live in Seattle, and Kathleen and her hus-band, Bryce, live in Issaquah, Wash. Marie’s other grandchild, Erica, died in infancy.
On Jan. 5, 2014, we are celebrating the 100th birthday of two very spe-cial people, one in person and the other in spirit. There will be an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling.

Arlene Glaser of Dixon celebrated her 80th birthday on Dec. 23, 2013.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1933, and was married to the late Richard Glaser on Nov. 7, 1960.
She is the mother of John (Isabel) Glaser of Amboy, Sandra (Mark Stahler) Conley of Polo, and Mike Glaser and Ann (Brad) Apple of Dixon.
She has eight grandchildren, Ryan Glaser (deceased); Jason (Michelle) Jones of Valparaiso, Ind.; Joshua Glaser of Chicago; Robert (Veroni-ca) Jones of Sandia, Texas; Colleen
(Mike) Wilson of Chicago; Teresa (Fermin) Saucedo of Lockport; and Michelle and Steve Apple of Dixon.
She also has been blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Maya and Cole Jones of Valparaiso, Ind.; Deanna, Lia, Robert and Eric Jones of Sandia, Texas; and Leo Saucedo of Lockport.
Her family honored her with a surprise birthday family get-togeth-er that included her sister, Doris Wohrley of Dixon, and many of her nieces and nephews and their fami-lies.

A longtime banking career will end on Dec. 31, 2013. Pam Erby is going to retire from a career she truly enjoyed.
Her first banking job was with Central National Bank in Ster-ling for 1.5 years. She then went to Rock Falls National Bank, then First National Bank of Sterling-Rock Falls, which became Mer-cantile Bank. Then she went to
First Star, which is now U.S. Bank.From her starting at Rock Falls
National until the retirement date is a period of 51.5 years, 53 years total banking employment.
