    Word Power

    One role of the Grammarian in a

    Toastmasters club is to bring a

    word for the day and listen for its

    usage. Here are some of my favorite

    words used at club meetings in

    2014:Discombobulate= to confuse

    Segue= to make a transition from

    one thing to another

    Spurious= fake, false, inauthentic

    Whippersnapper= insignificant,

    or presumptuous person

    Zippy = full of energy

    Upcoming Events

    Club Contests: Table Topics on

    January 28th & International

    Speech on February 4th

    Georgia Toastmasters District14 Spring Conference:April 24-

    25, 2015 at Callaway Gardens.

    Quote of the Month

    Tact is a way of dealing with others

    thoughtfully and with genuine con-

    cern for their feelings. Sensitivity to

    what is appropriate in a given situa-tion together with the ability to speak,

    lead or act without offending are the

    hallmarks of tact. Tact can be regard-

    ed as the great facilitator in all mu-

    tually successful interpersonal en-

    counters. George W. Fotis in Improv-

    ing Personal Effectiveness, p. 45.

    Why pay thousands of dollars for a

    seminar or class when you can join a

    Toastmasters clubfor a fraction of

    the cost and have fun in the

    process?
