Second Collection: Seminarian Fund Appeal By the grace of God, the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana currently has twenty seminarians. This certainly shows that God continues to call young men to the priesthood from our parishes. Please help support our seminarians by supporting their calling. This weekend, our parish will take a collection for the training of these men to be our future priests in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana. Will you help support our seminarians? Please look at today’s bulletin insert, and use the envelope provided for your gift. St. Augustine’s goal for the campaign is $4,266.00. Last week, $975.00 was collected towards our goal. Please help us meet our goal!

Fortnight for Freedom U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for the last five years has

asked Catholics to recognize the 14 days from June 21 — the vigil of the feast of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More — to July 4 as

the “Fortnight for Freedom.” Join Us In Prayer!

*Opening Mass of the Fortnight for Freedom June 21, 7pm, live, on EWTN: DirectTV=Ch370; DishNetwork=Ch261; U-verse=Ch562 *Daily Recitation at 7:00pm of the “ Prayer for Protection of Religious Liberty” O GOD OUR CREATOR, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God, and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome— for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us— this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. Read more: http://www.ncregister.com/site/article/fanning-the-flames-of-religious-freedom/#ixzz4BOlWyZnc... Or just Google “Fortnight of Freedom”)

St. Augustine School Enrollment St. Augustine School is currently enrolling for the 2016-2017

school year. We have openings in all grades. There is one class per grade in Kindergarten through five and class sizes are limited.

We offer three choices for preschool classes: two day morning preschool for ages 3-4, three day morning preschool for ages 4-5,

and a five day afternoon Jr. Kindergarten for ages 4-5. Please contact Principal Anne Dumas at the school at 866-5480 or

[email protected] for more information.

SASBUCK$ News: Big news! SAS Buck$ gift cards are available for both Ayda’s and Royal Oak Family Restaurant! How can you get your hands on those and other SAS Buck$ gift cards? If you usually buy the cards that are on-hand in the school office, you’ll

now visit the Rectory, which is open Tuesday through Friday, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. If you order your cards after church or online,

know that those orders will be processed on a bi-weekly basis (the next order is June 19). A new SAS Buck$ cycle will begin July 3rd,

so the final order for this school year will be made June 19th. Questions? Call the school (866-5480) or church office (866-5351).

June is National Safety Month Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages — and they are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1 to 44. The good news is everyone can be involved to prevent injuries. During National Safety Month, St. Augustine is working with community members to reduce the risk of injuries. We encourage you to learn more about important safety issues like prescription painkiller abuse, transportation safety, and slips, trips, and falls.

Prescription painkiller abuse: Prescription painkiller overdoses

are a growing problem in the United States, especially among women. About 18 women die every day from a prescription painkiller overdose — more than 4 times as many as back in 1999.

Transportation safety: Doing other activities while driving — like

texting or eating — distracts you and increases your chance of crashing. Almost 1 in 5 crashes (17%) that injured someone involved distracted driving.

Slips, trips, and falls: One in 3 older adults falls each year. Many

falls lead to broken bones and other health problems. You can make a difference. Find out ways to help reduce the risk of these safety issues.

Safety proofing your home pamphlets are available at each

entrance and the church office. Please feel free to grab one.

For more information, contact Jocelyn Ventrello, Parish Nurse.
