Background…
Availability of Natural Water Sources Crises of Irrigation during irregular /erratic rainfall
during Kharif and Rabi season and scarcity of water for household use in summer.
Huge Demand from the Community for replication of DBI in their respective villages after 1st Phase.
Maximum Unutilized Perennial Water Resources Small tribal pockets in remote areas debars from
Govt. Water Supply Schemes DBI – A low External input based Technology DBI – Low investment and High utility, Easy to
manage and maintain by the villagers.Swati_DBI

Good Experience
of SWATI Pipe based Water Supply System Stone Bed and Guard wall in Hilly Areas to Protect the Pipes Mobilization of Community Contribution (In shape of Labour and
Material) & their active Participation in installation. Bucket Purification System for Clean Drinking Water Involvement of Youth and women and all section of the community
during Planning, Implementation and Development Phase. Development of land availed under FRA Convergent Plan for FRA Land Title Holders. Convergent with other Govt. Schemes and Programme like
MGNREGS, NHM, ATMA.

Challenges faced during till
date… Post Management of Assets By the VDC due to
communal and ethnic fillings. Strengthening of VDC/WUA and collection of water
users charges. Involvement of the all community and equitable
distribution of the water for agriculture and Day to Day household use.
Extension of Hand holding support to meet the requirement of VDC during the Gap period.
Mobilization of Funds from ITDA to replicate the DBI in other villages.

Plan for Post Management
Phase… Continuation Mobilization of community. Participation, Contribution and their ownership and collection of
water users fees. Strengthening of Village Level Institution-SHG,VDC Organizing regular meeting with VDC/WUA.. Extending hold holding support as and when required by the
community. Regular monitoring and utilization of the DBI and Revolving Fund
by Community and VDC. Introduction of Onion and Dhania (New Crops) in the DBI. Technical support for Off Season Vegetable Cultivation and
Development of Crop Plan season wise. Linkage with the other Govt. Schemes and Programme.

Convergent with other Govt. Programmes like Line Sowing (20 Acres) under RKVY, Maize and Potato Cultivation ( 10 Acres each) with support IWMP and Development of Mango Orchard (25 Acres) and Hill Broom Planation under MGNREGS.
FRA Land development under MGNREGS Implementation of INRM Programme in all DBI villages. Construction of IHL in the Panchayat Plan under BNA. More Focus on Malaria Control and MNCHN issues.

Road Ahead……. DBI plus to carry forward the initiative to a sustainable approach Follow up action in the community on crop diversification and
rotation. Increase of Net and Gross Cropping Areas. Promotion of more NACDIP and Vermi Compost and Drip Irrigation. Maintenance and repairing of structures/ assets affected due to flash
flood by the Community Protection of Catchment through Plantation and loose boulder str. Structural Change as per the requirement of Site situation. (Intake
Structure) Replication of the other type of DBI (Hy dram and Picco Hydro) in
our Areas. Water Quality Testing and establishment of Water Treatment Plant. Soil Testing and Promotion of Organic Farming More Convergent with other Govt. supported Program. Leverage of Funds from OTELP and ITDA for New DBI. Tracking of Expenditure out of surplus income through MIS.

Experience of Farmers
Purandar Bindhani, Biraguda, Phiringia says that he has been able to double the production of paddy, grow 5 quintals of potato, tomato for household consumption, cauliflower and cabbage that yielded an income of Rs. 7000, maize worth Rs. 2400 and 15 kgs of mustard for household consumption.

Lembati Pradhan, an inhabitant of Nahudimaha, K. Nuagaon says, “DBI facility has been a much awaited succour for the women who faced a lot of problems especially when there were guests in the house or torrential rain”.
