Background

• Sarnia-Lambton has over 100 companies, mainly SME’s, that provide support services to the major oil and petro-chemical companies in the area. Together, they employ thousands of professionals and skilled trades-people

• Large plant closures and downsizing over the past 15 – 20 years left many of these SME’s struggling to survive

• Many had no experience doing marketing – there was no need in the past

Good start – more to achieve

• Getting almost 40 companies to agree to work together to achieve growth is a challenge and is considered success in itself. Particularly when many are bitter rivals!

• As more success is achieved, more participation and buy-in occurs.

• Industry member volunteer leadership and community support have and will continue to be imperative for the continued success of the group
