THE CHALLENGE...
How do we achieve FULL ELECTRIC ROAD TRANSPORT - including light and heavy vehicles -in a safe, reasonable, cost-effective
& environmentally sustainable way?

COMPARING DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES…
1 2 3▪ 5 M cars, 14 k urban buses, 20 k city
distribution trucks, 65 k long haulers
▪ All electromobility related equipment costs estimated in detail
▪ Battery price: 100 € / kWh
▪ Battery range for cars: 250 km (72 kWh) vs. 50 km (15 kWh)
▪ Amortisation time: 10 years for on-board equipment, 15 years for infrastructure

COMPARING DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES…
▪ It does pay off!!
▪ Car batteries are the most significant cost driver!
▪ It’s important to share the infrastructure between as many vehicle types as possible
Large batteries Overhead ERS Road-bound ERS

SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS – BATTERY AND CHARGING STATIONS
▪ Breakeven point for battery cost in Scen. 1≈ 135 € / kWh
▪ Road-bound ERS solution is profitable even with today’s battery costs
▪ The cost / number of charging stations has relatively low influence in the total cost

SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS – COST OF ERS
▪ Road-bound conductive ERS is always more cost effectivethan overhead lines
