    CASUAL POSITIONS - COMMENCING JANUARY 2021

    A. OUTLINE An exciting opportunity has arisen for casual Swimming Instructors at our Stanmore and Lindfield Campus pools. The successful candidates will work as part of the NewSPORT Swim School team, be able to work both collaboratively and independently while using the framework of our swimming program to teach technique-based lessons. They will have excellent verbal communication skills as well as the ability to demonstrate correctly. Possess the confidence and skills to interact with a diverse range of children and parents is paramount in assisting children to learn to swim and helping parents understand how children perform when allowed to learn at their own pace. They will have a passion for working with children, nurturing their confidence as they learn to swim and improve their abilities at all levels. This position will work with both Newington College students as well as the general public. We offer a COVID19 safe working environment, supplying Facemasks, sanitiser and temperature checks. Our clientele must socially distance, check-in on the NSW Covid19 App at each visit to the pool, and take advantage of the hand sanitiser stations provided.   • B. DUTY STATEMENT FOR SWIM SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR

    To ensure the best experience for all children attending the swim school this position will work within a team of swimming instructors and report to the Swim School Coordinator.

    The main duties of this role include but are not limited to:

    • Teaching swimming and running lessons for both Newington students and the general public • Ensuring the safety and supervision of children from 3 years of age to school age as well as adults

    engaged in swim school activities • Ensure the best experience for all children attending the swim school • Collaboratively work within a team of swimming instructors that report to the Swim School Coordinator • Ad hoc administration duties if required. • Ensure current CPR qualification is maintained • Ensure Teacher of Swimming Australia or AustSwim qualification is maintained. • Maintain the high expectations of College Staff as you are representing the College. This includes:

    a) being well dressed in in Newington colours/appropriate clothing b) being well groomed c) your demonstrated sportsmanship at all times d) your demonstrated support of officials at all times e) punctuality being first rate f) effective communication with parents

    B. KEY ATTRIBUTES / SELECTION CRITERIA

    1. Qualified as: • Teacher of Swimming Swim Australia OR AUSTSWIM qualified or equivalent

    2. Desirable: • Teacher of Babies & Toddlers • Teacher of competitive Strokes

    3. Essentials: • Current valid working with children check • CPR Certificate • First Aid Certificate

    C. THE EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN AND AIMS OF THE COLLEGE

    The Educational Strategic Plan for 2020 - 2024 and annual reports, report to parents on our initiatives to date, and the Aims of the College are to be found on the College website. It is a condition of employment that staff comply with all the policies and practices of the College and that conduct is consistent with the Christian ethos of the College. All staff must be fully supportive of the aims of the College. D.
