GETTING STARTED SWITCHING ON THE IPAD The power button for the ipad is located on the top right hand corner of the ipad when it is facing you, press and hold for 30secs to power on the ipad.

Launching LawPavillion Judiciary To launch LawPavillion, tap on the lawpavilion icon on the iPAD device as shown in fig 1.1 this action launches the app and it is displayed as shown in fig 1.2

A. LEGAL RESEARCH MODULE

The legal research module is the module that contains a compendium of legal research materials to enhance the productivity of the legal personnel. This module contains the entire library of the Supreme Court judgment from 1970-date, Court of Appeal Judgment from 2007-2011 (over 4000 cases), Selected Laws of the Federation, Subsidiary Legislation and the Nigerian Civil Procedure Rules. This module also has four icons that lead to an archive of lawpavilion legal resources that greatly enhances your legal practice. Below is a list of the icons and the resources each one of them is housing

B. PRACTICE MANAGEMENT The practice management module is specially designed with portability and mobility in mind. This enables the legal practitioner who wants to always travel light but loaded to have a constant access to all materials necessary to make their work upwardly mobile. This module comes with functionality that enables the lawyers to keep an organized record of all their Clients, Documents and information that pertains to them. The module also has an automatic CAUSE LIST and TASK LIST management system. Below is listed the icons that provide all the functionality required to achieve this goal.

THE MODULES EXPLAINED LEGAL RESEARCH MODULE Below is a description of the functionality of the various icons under this module SEARCH FOR AUTHORITIES This is a powerful search engine that enables searches to be conducted seamlessly and without stress. Searches can be conducted on any Subject matter, Issues for determination, Case title or any other criteria and within seconds, authorities on the search criteria are returned reducing tremendously the time required to conduct a search. The search engine has been divided into the quick and advanced search. The quick search is designed to conduct searches locally on the iPAD, it does not require internet access to bring results. The advance search on the other hand has the facility to go online to bring results if the user so desires. Conducting Searches To conduct a search, the search parameter is typed into the Search bar, and a list of results are returned and displayed in the Display Area as shown in Fig 1.3. To use the local search click on ‘Quick Search’ while for the advance search click on ‘Advanced Search’. The advanced search requires internet connection to work.

TOPICAL INDEX This tab gives a listing of LEGAL HEADs e.g. Tort, Criminal Law & Procedure, Contract etc. clicking on any of these LEGAL HEADs gives a listing of SUBJECT MATTER under the various issues e.g. Negligence, Murder, Offer & Acceptance clicking on any of these subject matter gives the principle and the case that defines the principle. Fig 2.0, 2.1 & 2.2 gives a pictorial depiction of this process.

LATEST JUDGEMEMT/LAWPAVILION 3600 The latest Supreme Court judgments are automatically downloaded by the software and they can be accessed by clicking once on the latest Judgments tab (SC or CA) to expand it. This tab displays the latest judgments for each of the respective courts. The Lawpavilion 3600 feature enables Judges to know the status of their cases that went on appeal. This feature gives alert on the status of the case stating whether it was upturned or upheld. The fig below, fig 2.3 shows a listing of the latest judgments and the Lawpavilion 3600 as displayed by the app.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT The practice management module can be accessed by clicking on the Practice Management tab on the navigation bar at the bottom of the app. Refer to fig 3.0 below to see the tabs.
