Strengths For my AS production, I was required to create a music magazine in a genre of my choice. In order to ensure I received a good mark in the production of my magazine, I decided that I would research a lot into the magazine industry particularly music magazines that focus on indie music, as this was the genre I had decided to focus on. I found that my research was my strongest part of my blog as I analysed mult iple magazine front covers and double page spreads using Mise-en-scene therefore, al lowing me to gain a deeper knowledge of how a music magazine is structured. Likewise, in doing this I was able to see how various artists in magazines are presented and how I would in turn do this. Similar ly, I found another strength in my blog came from my use presentation. Throughout my blog I often used software such as Prezi, PowerPoint and IMovie to make my research look far more interesting for example when analysing CLASH magazine I decided that I would use Prezi to showcase my information as this made my research look professional and media rich.

Right: The picture on the right is a screenshot of my PowerPoint presentation analysis of a music magazine company. I created my presentation on PowerPoint and then uploaded it onto Side Share so that it was easily accessible. I feel this was another strength to my blog as it allowed me to utilise the Internet to help my blog.

Left: In order to use more diversity in my blog, I used Vimeo to upload my filmed presentations as this allowed me to develop my editing skills as well as experiment with presentation of my blog.

   

Weaknesses In the production of my music magazine,

I used a piece of software called InDesign. This, I believe was the weakest part of my blog as I

struggled greatly with using it. As I had no previous knowledge in using the software, I had to YouTube tutorials in order to gain an understanding of the Software. Because of this, it took me far longer to

create my magazine than I had initially intended thus preventing me from doing everything I

had aimed to do on my blog.

In conjunction with this, another weakness from my AS blog was my layout of my blog. As I had little

knowledge of the presentation software available online, I often used the same websites over and over therefore, allowing my blog to become rather repetitive and bland.

Instead of presenting my long pieces of text in interesting and exciting ways, I often typed them directly onto the

blog thus causing it to look dull and monotonous.

Opportunities & Threats This year requires me to create a music video, digi pack and music magazine with my group. This comes with multiple opportunities as by working in a group we will all be able to play to our individual strengths and support our blog together to ensure that we do not fall short of anything. Likewise, by working in a group we will be able to spread out the responsibility equally thus allowing us to work more smoothly and efficiently. In conjunction with this, there will be some threats. Due to the fact that each one of us has previously worked in print, for our AS media course, it will be a lot harder for us to create a music video as we all have very basic knowledge of how to use video editing software and how to film correctly. This may cause us some problems, as we will have to learn how to use these technologies ourselves.
