SWOT Evaluation- AS BlogLast year in AS Media Studies I felt that my blog as a whole had lots of room for improvement and looking

back at it now there are several posts I would have done differently, having said this there are many posts I feel were good and I would reciprocate these in my A2 coursework. I feel that Microsoft word was over used in my AS blog and at some stages lacked media richness. I liked using Voki, SoundCloud and I think

using social media was effective as well.

These are some of our more ‘media rich’ posts from our AS blog. I have chosen these to represent what went well in our coursework, the first image shows a video interview in which we talk about the thriller from an actors point of

view meaning we took on the role of actors and reflected on our performance. I think this worked well as it is appeals directly to our audience and I think it is important to connect with your audience and build rapport with

them. I feel that the best way to grab your audiences attention and make them interested is interaction and lots of visuals. We interacted with our audience through popular social media such as twitter and instagram and posted

pictures and statuses regularly to keep them up to date. I will use this method of interation again in our A2 blog as its an easy way to be involved with our audience. Voki was a fun way, interesting way to get our ideas across and shows

media richness. However Voki can only be used for short brief posts due to its limited word count. This year I am going to research other softwares and ways to present my work in order for our blog to be as diverse as possible. I

want our blog to be full of visuals and to give our audience an insight to all of our plans and ideas visually.

This is an example of what didn’t go so well in last years blog. The image above shows one of many short written posts actually done on blogger itself. I do not think these posts are at all effective in presenting our coursework. I feel like theses posts lacked creativeness and comes across a bit lazy. This year I am going to ensure posts such as this one do not appear on our blog and even if it is hard to make a simple post media rich I will still put effort into the

post and try and make it media rich. A fliming schecule should be presented in an organised fashion, maybe in a table or some kind of diary. Some posts will be simple and we may be tempted to present them in a simple, bland way however to get the best possible grade we can get we need to ensure we present every single post in an interesting media rich method.

WHAT do I need to do this year?This year I am going to do more research as well as experimenting with different apps, software and media methods in order to present my work the best way I can. I am also going to be hands on when it comes to my posts, for example I am going to go out my way to present my posts in a video, or podcast, instead of a heavily worded document. This year I will also use pictures in order to make my work clear and create an understanding for my audience as in today’s day and age society respond better to visuals rather than longwinded paragraphs.
