SYDNEY SKYSCRAPER SUMMIT PRESENTS THE LATEST GLOBAL CONCEPTS FOR TALL BUILDINGS Wednesday, 5 July 2017 A major summit in August focusing on the role of skyscrapers in global cities has been organised by the Urban Taskforce. “As a support partner to the Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s (CTBUH) Sydney conference in November, the Urban Taskforce has organised next month’s SYDNEY SKYSCRAPER SUMMIT to encourage community and political awareness of this global trend,” says Urban Taskforce CEO Chris Johnson. "The Urban Taskforce is privileged to host the 18 August summit, where global leaders in high-rise buildings will present the very latest designs from world cities", Mr Johnson said. “The Director of New York’s Skyscraper Museum, Carol Willis, will present the latest examples of tall thin buildings from around the world. These include some incredibly thin apartment towers on the edge of New York’s Central Park.” “Ian Lomas, a partner of Make architects in London will present the firms tower designs for Mumbai and London as well as local Sydney projects. Australian architects Karl Fender from Melbourne and Barry Lee from Brisbane will present their local and international skyscraper designs.” “A special focus of the Summit will be joint presentations by Australian developers and their architects of specific tower proposals for Sydney. The Star tower will be presented by David Brenac and architect Richard Francis-Jones and the Crown Resorts tower across the bay will be presented by Todd Nisbet and architect Simon Swaney of Bates Smart. David Rolls of Lend Lease will be joined by London architect Muir Livingston from Foster Partners to present their Circular Quay Tower and Alexia Fisher of Meriton will profile the company’s commitment to high rise and profile their Gold Coast Tower with Jonathan Tondi of SJB architects.” “This is a very rich program involving international leaders in the field of tall buildings with around 30 of the world’s latest skyscraper designs. Australian architects are having a big impact in this field in Australia and internationally.” “The main CTBUH Conference is from 30 October to 3 November in Sydney where over 1,000 delegates from around the world will be attending.” The web site for the CTBUH Conference is available here: http://ctbuh2017.com/ Attached is the flyer for the SYDNEY SKYSCRAPER SUMMIT The Urban Taskforce is a property development industry group, representing Australia’s most prominent property developers and equity financiers.
