• Implementation from1 January 2015
• Eligible individuals will have an entitlement to select foundation courses and full qualifications up to and including Certificate III.
• Pre-vocational training, skill sets and qualifications from Certificate IV to Advanced Diploma will also be funded through TAFE NSW and the training market.
• Students will pay a fee for their course rather than an annual or semester fee. Concessions and exemptions will continue to be available for disadvantaged groups.

Vocational competency
• Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, usually combined with a relevant industry qualification.
• Vocational competency must be considered on an industry-by-industry basis and with reference to the guidance provided in the Assessment Guidelines of the relevant Training Package.
• Vocational currency, industry currency, trainer and assessor currency are an integral component of vocational competency.

Vocational currency
• teachers should hold an up to date, relevant AQF level qualification and or have the relevant vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered or assessed
• be familiar with the content of their vocational area and know their subject
• have relevant current experience and an understanding of industry related skills and work practices
• have the pedagogical skills required to teach their students
