Study goal and course content Student’s Benefits

Search and Rescue in Emergency: It is a

subject where important issues for search - rescue

will be addressed in emergency situations.

Purpose: Through the development of this

subject we aim to enable students to recognize

this type of operation as an activity that will

accompany all activities to face disaster

situations. As a new field of study it is taking up

considerable space nowdays.

Knowledge:

Upon successful completion of this course

students will be able to:

- Recognize spaces in which it is necessary to

organize search and rescue operations;

- Know the mission, organization, structures

and operation of the search and rescue

service;

- Qualify the forces of this service;

- Plan the organization and deployment of

search and rescue units;

- Know how to prepare reports and report on

situations and tasks;

- Recognize and evaluate factors for

evaluating the development of a search and

rescue plan;

- Prepare the search operation by planning,

coordinating and interacting.

Study purpose and subject content Student benefits

Content: The subject Academic writing contains

the basic issues of language culture, including

writing methods. This helps students to acquire

basic knowledge of the native language of

Albanian, its spelling, basic grammar rules, as

well as forms of writing, ranging from official

papers to higher forms of academic writing, such

as essay and compilation of diploma and Mastar

topics.Purpose:

The purpose of the Academic Writing course is

to enable students to write correctly, error-free

and according to the nature of the Albanian

language.

Students acquire the necessary knowledge of

working in the language culture, write simple,

clear, precise Albanian, as well as respect

spelling and punctuation rules. After

completing this semester, students will be able

to write all forms of writing, ranging from

application, job report, announcement, to

essay, test to diploma thesis, starting from

paper to the written lesson explanation of the

lesson.

METODOLOGY OF REALIZINGTHE TEACHING TOPICS

I will use interconnected methods, starting from the classic method of direct communication

with students, to working with groups and individuals. The way of communication depends on

the subject of the lesson.

Likewise, the methods of continuous communication in the form of homework assignments will

be applied, not only as a homework assignment but also as a form of collaboration to more

appropriately master the subject and its units. This ongoing work has had positive effects on the

acquisition of academic writing. The demonstration method will be used where possible, for

Page 48: Syllabuses FIRST YEAR: SEMESTER I

example, the acquisition of punctuation, the use of Albanian words instead of foreign words,

and so on.

Couse aims and content Learning outcomes

Emergencies English is a compulsory course

that exposes students to a fairly wide range of

communicative situations in the English

language concerning different topics of the field

of economics as well as daily life, through

which students will be able to express their

communication skills and simultaneously

improve their knowledge of all four basic

language skills: listening, reading, writing, and

speaking, in terms of fluency and accuracy. The

topics covered during the course, such as:

brands, companies, advertising, money,

international markets, leadership, ethics, etc.,

will include a variety of grammar and

vocabulary exercises, which will help the

students reach a good command of the English

language focusing on the intertwining of

linguistic competence and performance as an

imperative for mastering a foreign language.

Upon completion of the course, students will

be able to:

1. Understand clearly and easily the business

terms used in the topics discussed during the

course, and converse about those topics

without difficulties.

2. Write essays that contain at least 300 words

on the topics discussed during the lectures and

exercises;

3. Implement their knowledge of the English

language in different communicative

situations accurately;

4. Use the professional literature of their field

of study that corresponds with the level of

knowledge of the English language acquired

through the course;

5. Develop affinity for the language, which

would undoubtedly increase their interest for

further improvement of their knowledge of

business English.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Page 52: Syllabuses FIRST YEAR: SEMESTER I

53

The teaching methodology is utterly based on the Communicative Approach as a dominant

orthodoxy in the English language teaching worldwide. Lectures will be delivered in an

interactive form, engaging students in all kinds of discussions concerning the topics covered in

this course, giving them instructions on the proper language use, and organising a fair range of

activities that imitate the use of the English language outside the classroom, such as: pair work,

group work, role plays, etc., in order to prepare the students to make use of the language both

inside and outside the classroom. Discussions during the exercises will be organised in small

groups in order to stimulate the students’ competitive spirit. Presentation of their seminar papers

and other assignments will also be an integral part of the teaching and learning process that will

greatly contribute to the students’ improvement of their language skills.
