BENEFITS
Residual flux in the transformer core cannot be measured directly but can be calculated by integration of the voltage across the power transformer. If capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs) are not installed between the circuit breaker and the power transformer, SynchroTeq Plus can be supplied with dedicated voltage sensors to be installed on the power transformer’s bushing.
Point on wave switching is used extensively in shunt capacitor bank and shunt inductor applications to minimize inrush and overvoltages. For unloaded transformer energization, point on wave switching requires that the controller also has knowledge of the residual flux in the transformer’s core.
