The journal Systema Ascomycetum, conceived by Ove E. Eriksson (see this issue p. (21)), was devoted to the development of a new system of ascomycetes down to the generic level. The first four volumes were prepared and distributed free of charge by Ove from the University of Umeå in Sweden. As the annual ”Outlines” started to increase in content, and it was decided to include notes on changes and recent work, the International Mycological Institute (IMI; Kew and later Egham) assisted with the publication from volume 5 in 1986, and it was then distributed by CAB International until IMI was subsumbed into CABI Bioscience; the last volume appeared in 1998. Further information on the history and philosophy of the project is provided by Eriksson & Hawksworth (1994).

No complete list of the contents is, however, available, other than one of the papers compiled in the final issue. In order to facilitate access to all the content, Ove has compiled the list presented here, together with the actual dates of publication of each issue.
