ATEN Video Switcher
Equipment ADD
ATEN Video and USB switchers can be controlled with Mira Connect™, Aveo Systems’ smart control appliance. Mira Connect communicates and controls the ATEN Video and USB switcher over an Ethernet or RS-232 connection.
To get started, create a room in Mira Portal (https://mira.aveosystems.com), and pair a Mira Connect controller to the room, or select UI Preview to preview and use simulated equipment.
Add an ATEN video or USB switcher to the room by clicking ADD from the equipment panel and select ATEN Video Switcher from the equipment list and choose a model from the list.
Enter the IP address of the video switcher or Global Caché IP2SL interface. Mira Connect will connect to the ATEN video switcher and, if the IP address is valid, or the baud rate of the IP2SL matches the ATEN device, Mira Portal will show the equipment status as a green circle once the ATEN video switcher has been validated over the network connection.
If a red triangle, ! , is displayed, confirm the IP address, and if connecting over RS-232, confirm baud rate of the IP2SL interface and cable pin-out. See our Global Cache integration guide for more information.
On the Mira Portal Video Inputs tab, enable the desired inputs on the video switcher, and enter labels and optional descriptions, to create the video display menu for source selection.

Mira Connect Integration with the ATEN Video and USB switcher
When connecting an output from a video switcher to a display, add the display to your equipment (in this case, an LG display) and for the desired input on the display, select ‘Use Sources Connected to Other Equipment’ and then select the video switcher and the desired output from the video switcher that is connected to that input on the display. The display menu for the display shown on Mira Connect will show the defined inputs from the video switcher automatically.
Important information about the integration is summarized below.
Video Switching FunctionalityMira Connect switches audio and video together (audio follows video) when changing video inputs to outputs.
The ATEN USB switchers do not support querying which input has been selected, so when Mira Connect first connects to the system, it will not show that any input has been selected. Selecting an input will cause the system to select that input and show that input as connected.
Models SupportedATEN CS1922/24M and US3344i USB switchers, ATEN VM series video switchers.
Software VersionsTested with an CS1922M running software V1.1.101, US3344i running software V1.0.062, and ATEN VM0404HB running firmware V3.2.313.
Control Interface
ATEN video switchers are controlled over telnet using port 23 or over RS-232 using a Global Cache IP2SL interface. The user name and password used to connect to the ATEN video switchers are the default values of ‘administrator’ and ‘password’, respectively. If a different user name or password is required, please contact us.
When controlled over RS-232, Mira Connect communicates over port 4999 to the Global Cache IP2SL interface and no username and password are used.
The ATEN USB switchers are controlled over an RS-232 interface which requires a Global Caché IP to serial device (IP2SL). The US3344i product requires an RS-232 to RS-422 interface, for example, the CON-422-PIE from SerialComm (purchased separately), to connect to the Global Caché IP2SL device.
When using the Global Caché IP2SL interface for serial control, use Global Caché’s iHelp program to discover the device’s IP address, then browse into the device to set the desired static IP address. The Global Caché IP2SL (part number 151.0010.001) is available as an accessory from Aveo Systems. See the Global Cache integration guide for more information.
Ensure the baud rate on the Global Caché IP2SL matches the baud rate configured on the device. Default RS-232 settings for the ATEN Video and CS1922/24 USB switchers are 19,200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control. The US3344i has a default baud rate of 38,400 baud.
CS1922/1924 USB SwitcherFor the CS1922/1924 products, use a custom RS-232 cable that you provide as shown in the following figure with a 4-pin RJ-9 plug on one end. Please note the ATEN documentation refers to the socket as an RJ-11, but it is a 4-pin RJ-9 (same as the connector on a phone handset cord).

US3344i USB SwitcherIf using the ATEN US3344i, use an RS-232 to RS-422 converter such as the CON-422-PIE from SerialComm to convert the RS-422 control signals on the rear of the ATEN US3344i to RS-232 for interfacing to the Global Cache IP2SL.
The cable between the CON-422-PIE and US3344i should connect transmit lines to the receive lines and vice-versa as shown in the following figure. Ensure the + and - balanced RS-422 signals are mapped to their respective + and - signals on the US3344i.
A straight-through RS-232 DB9F to DB9M cable should be used to connect the Global Cache IP2SL to the RS-422 adapter as shown in the following figure.
The US3344i has a default baud rate of 38,400.
Note that the US3344i does not include a power supply. Use an external 9-24V DC power supply with enough current (approximately 40W) to ensure the USB interfaces are fully operational and support charging USB devices.
Mira Connect controls the US3344i USB switcher by configuring the inputs as if it were a video switcher. A typical application for a USB switch is shown in the following figure.
