= = Honey Just take some honey in a cup then apply it directly to the pimples. Leave them alone for 1 hour and rinse off. Use a honey mask, thrice a week for best result. = = Lemon Juice Take a fresh lemon, squeeze it, and apply the juice directly to the pimples. Use the lemon juice regularly on the pimples to cure it fast. = = Honey with Cinnamon Take one tbsp cinnamon powder, in a cup, and mix with lemon juice. Then apply the paste on the infected skin surface. Let it dry for 45 minutes and then wash out. Regular use of this lemon-cinnamon pack does help in getting rid of pimples. = = Toothpaste Apply white toothpaste to the affected area and let it dry. Wash it off with luke- warm water and pat your skin dry with a clean towel. = = Lime Juice and Almond Oil Mix two to three drops of fresh- ly extracted lime juice with almond oil and apply it on the affected areas. Keep overnight and wash off the following morning. = = Tomato Juice Tomato juice can be another alternative for curing pimples. Apply it and let it dry on the skin for half an hour. Rinse it off with water. = = Egg White Separate one egg white from its yolk. Dab your finger into the egg white. Coat your pimple with egg white. Let the egg white dry. Rub the egg white off with warm water. = = Cloves Take a few pods of cloves and roast them dry in a pan. Powder them and add a little curd to make a paste. Dab the paste on the pimples and let it dry. Wash off. Use this treatment regularly if you are prone to pim- ples. It’s very good for people who have oily skin. MADu AwAnTHI T he University of Colombo recently completed the graduation ceremony for Diploma in Travel, Tourism Economics and Hotel Management (DTTEHM), con- ducted by the Department of Economics of Faculty of Arts. Dr. Kumara Hirimburegama, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, was the Chief Guest. DTTEHM, a multi-disciplinary diploma level programme, is specially designed to respond to the industry demand for multi-skilled travel and tourism professionals who are able to take responsibility for a wide range of complex industry processes by improving the the- oretical concepts, issues and policies. This diploma provides opportunities for the integration of knowledge and skills in the hands-on practice of different fields of the indus- try by providing practical and analytical competence in socio-economic, ecolog- ical, marketing, managerial, accounting and legal aspects of travel and tourism with hotel management, ticketing, information technology and other relat- ed fields to meet the modern chal- lenges of the changing global trends in travel and tourism industry. As a part of the graduation ceremo- ny, a new book, on the future prospects of the travel and tourism, was launched. At the graduation ceremony, a total of 13 awards were given. 10 Thursday January 8th 2015 A midst the celebrations of Christmas, and the dawn of the New Year, the Mount Lavinia Hotel did not fail to ignite the true spirit of the season in sharing with the less fortunate and spreading the joy to the most deserved. As they have continued to do, for more than 15 years, the Management and staff of the Mount Lavinia hotel hosted over 50 chil- dren from the neighbouring fishing village, and Mihindu Pre-school, for a Christmas party. The Mihindu Pre-school was founded by the hotel and at present houses 24 children, who are mostly from the fishing village, near the hotel. The children enjoyed a magic show and were treated to snacks and sweets. They were also presented with school bags and station- ary for the new school year. Home remedy for PIMPLES The Batch Top of DTTEHM 2012/2013 was awarded to Ashanthi Perera. The Second Best Diploma Holder, and the student with excellent leadership, was Hasanka Wijesinghe, while the Third Best Diploma Holder was Ikshula Weerasinghe.
