The outer and cent re doors are a t tached to the shock s t ru t , and re-

t ract w i th i t , whi le the inner doors operate independent ly in sequence wi th the

gear . The inner door does not rnove on a re t ract ion unt i l the gear is a lmost

fu l ly up. Th is act ion is due to a knee- l ink assembly for rn ing a geometr ic lock

unti l struck by a block on the cenTfri i l Hydraul ic pressure can now move

the door to the c losed pos i t ion.

\ f ,hen c los ing, a ro l ler on the door contacts a t r igger hook which pre-

vents the up lock hook f rorn ro ta t ing to the engaged pos i t ion. Now re leased, the

uplock hook engages around the rol ler on the door, forming a posit ive rnechanical

uplock for the rnain gear.

In i t ia l hydrau l ic pressure re leases the up lock hook when an extens ion

is ee lected.

Operat ion

The brakes are appl ied by depress ing the brake pedals , rnov ing the p is-

ton rod, and plston valve assembly in the rnaster cyl inder, which also closes the

poppet valve. Thie forces fluid into the brake lines and into the brake assembly

on each rnain wheel, squeezing the pucks and discs together.

The parking brakes are applied as follows:

(1 ) Depress peda ls(Z) Pull rrpark brakerr handle, either cockpit

(3 ) Re lease peda ls(4) Release handle.

The two e lect r ic actuators are in terconnected by f lex ib le shaf ts throughan r rHrr dr ive assembly , which serves the dual purpose of synchron iz ing f lap rnove-m e @ e a n s o f o n e m o t o r a c t u a t i n g b o t h f l a p s i f o n e m o t o r f a i l s .

Maxirnurn up and down travel of the f laps is governed by lhe l i rnitswi tches, r r rounted to the r rHrr dr ive assernb ly which is located in the bot torn o f thep lenum charnber , on the cent re l ine.

F lap se lect ions can be rnade f rorn e i ther cockp i t by rnov ing a leverrnounted outboard o f the throt t le . These se lector levers are connected to a carn

shaft which operate the two rnicro switches for up and down f lap rnovernent.

Any misal ignment in the trai l ing edge of the f laps is probably due to

incorrect length o f one or more l ink rods. When ad just ing the l ink rods, ensure

that the inner rod on each f lap does not exceed 9 I l4 in.
