Inspiration for the Week Are we ready and prepared for what life will ask of us? The answers to life's challenges, especially those that involve purpose, meaning, and happiness are not found in material things or by searching the Internet. Many things in life re-quire a journey of the heart and the acquisition of wisdom. When one acquires wisdom, one acquires priceless wealth. Sadly, pursuing wisdom is not valued by our world these days. Examining our lives, pondering the bigger questions, reflecting on where we have been and where we are going, are invaluable exercises that not only bring us wisdom but open our eyes to God's presence. Those who seek wisdom shall not be disappointed and will always be ready for whatever comes their way.

Saints Isidore and Maria Pastoral Council
I am very happy and excited to announce that I have recent-ly formed a new Pastoral Council for our community. The Pastoral Council functions a little differently than the tradi-tional Parish Council. The Pastoral Council is charged with assisting me in leading our parish community in the dis-cernment and expression of its mission. The primary focus of the parish Pastoral Council is to ensure that the pastoral and spiritual needs of our community and beyond reflect our parish mission. This involves ongoing pastoral plan-ning, assessment of needs and discernment. It is also the task of the parish Pastoral Council to connect with the wid-er mission of the Archdiocese and Universal Church. Our focus will be on the seven elements that form the essence of parish life: evangelization, worship, word, community, ser-vice, stewardship and leadership. In practical terms this translates into developing a parish Mission/Vision State-ment, evaluating current parish ministries, developing new parish ministries in conjunction with the parish mission and ensuring that parish efforts harmonize with, contribute to our mission and more! Both former communities of St. Augustine and St. Paul have incredible gifts and charisms to share. All of us have a vision of the kind of community we would like to be and are called to listen to the Holy Spirit as we are guided and led in living the mission of the Gospel. Those initially assisting me in this task are: Jon Sozek (Faith Formation Director), Donna Berger, Phil Lohr, Mary Kate Hallissey, Tod Umback, Sarah Johnson, Tricia Quinn and Robert Howley. Our deacons, Bill Dziatko and Steve Weaver are also asked to participate. I am grateful for their willingness to serve and eager to see our work and dialogue bear fruit in our community.
Saints Isidore and Maria Finance Council
I am also very happy to announce my gratitude to those I have asked to assist me on our parish Finance Council. The parish Finance Council is primarily charged with advising the pastor regarding parish temporal needs, monitoring and assisting with the parish budget, reviewing income and ex-penses and long-range planning. With the Pastoral Council focused on the pastoral and spiritual needs of our communi-ty, it is the role of the Finance Council to assist with our financial concerns. Until we can officially and formally incorporate into our new community of Saints Isidore and Maria, the parish Finance Council will continue to monitor each entity separately, with members whose original affilia-tion was in their particular parish focusing primarily on that entity. Those who graciously accepted my invitation to help with this work are: Bob DeLucia, Michael Ferris, John Ruggiero, Patrick Treacy, Deb Warren, Paul Nowosadko, Sandy Scalon, David Berger, Christopher Johnson and Joan
Faustman.

Thanksgiving Interfaith Service To Focus on Sharing
The traditional Glastonbury Interfaith Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Lutheran Church of St. Mark on Tues-day, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. This year’s theme is Shar-ing the Bread, Together We are Fed. People are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food for the local food pantry as well as a loaf of bread to share as part of the service. Presented by the Glastonbury Interfaith Leadership Group, the service includes readings, reflections, and music from many spiritual communities, among them Hindu, Christian, Bahai, Muslim, and Jewish. “Thanksgiving is the time of year when all of us can come together in gratitude to uphold both our unity and our diversity on the theme of sharing bread,” explained Denise Cabana, minister of St. James Episcopal Church and a member of the leadership group. Everyone is welcome.
