“for whatever is born of God conquers the world” 1 John 5:4

Sometimes, in our service to God, we can have great ideas, excellent

people, wonderful execution, and still fail. This is usually caused by a

lack of prior prayer. The converse to the verse above is also true. If

the project is not in God’s will, it cannot succeed.

So, please pray daily for Cursillo, that what we do is in God’s will.

We have lots going on for the rest of this year: Fourth Day, Joint

Songfest, T-Shirts, new Songbook, and much more. Let us pray it’s of

God.

Continue to group, welcome our new cursillistas, attend Ultreyas, (or

start one), sponsor someone. BUT above all , love God and each other.

Application

Process:

To be on a

Cursillo staff,

an application

must be on file.

Applications are

on line at

years

From the Eyes of

A Cursillista

Patience was required of me…to

wait for it to be the right time for

my journey to Cursillo. A dear

friend returned from her Cursillo

20+ years ago. I was full of ques-

tions. She wisely said, “If you’re

going to go, I don’t want to say

much. I don’t want to

spoil the surprises!”

After 20+ years, I can say

it was worth the wait!

And I’m so very thankful

for my wise friend,

allowing me the

experience of wonder

and surprise that was so

much a part of Cursillo

123. It was just the right

time for me. Arriving at

the Gray Center, a most

Holy place to me, the

energy and excitement of the staff

was tangible. An excitement that

was contagious throughout the

weekend. With hearts and hands

and voices, in speaking and singing

and eating and celebrating and

Weekend.

praying…(and eating again?)

….the unconditional love of God

was a constant presence. And it

continues to be present in a new

way for me each day. This hap-

pening in my life, at this time in

my life is a gift I am truly thankful

for ….and I pray I don’t have to

be patient another 20 years for

the opportunity to be a Rollista

or a Cha Cha.

From the Eyes of

A Staff Member

I recently returned from serving

on Staff at Cursillo 123. Every

staff experience is the best and

this was “The Best.” Adam’s

staff hit the ground running and

never stopped. Having served

on many staffs but not in over 10

years I was not sure how I would

like some of the weekend

changes. Let me say, “Change is

Good” and what has not changed

is God’s Love at Cursillo. Get

your staff apps in now.

It doesn't matter which weekend you

attended, the Cursillo community once

again ate, laughed, sang, and praised God

together.

During most Cursillo weekends, Cursillistas gather at the Big house at Gray Center for food, fellowship, and

fun. There is no agenda except for coming together as a community. We gather Saturday afternoon and

stay until Clausura on Sunday. Keep an eye out for plans for this gathering for 124 and 125.

P A G E 4

It was my first time at The Big House so I didn’t know what

to expect. Happily, it seemed a natural extension of the

Cursillo weekend and Fourth day workshop. Cannot wait

until next time! Meeting more pilgrims on this exciting

journey was such a blessing.

Can our Bishop carry a tune in

a bucket?

Come and see at the

Ecumenical Songfest!!

Lakeshore Congregational

Methodist Church

6880 Siwell Road,

Jackson, Mississippi

Saturday, November 3 from

9:30am-2pm

Prayers over the last two

years and a few meetings with

our brothers and sisters in

other Cursillo communities

have brought us to our first

Jackson area Ecumenical

Cursillo Songfest in over a

decade. We join other cursillo

communities for song, fellow-

ship, and food at Lakeshore

Methodist Church (exit 85 on

I-55 south of Jackson just a

mile or so west of I-55) on the

first Saturday morning in

November. The anticipated

crowd will be in the hundreds.

We will start singing at 9:30,

have brief talks from lay leaders

within each community. Each

Community will also have a

song team lead a segment of

singing. Bishop Gray will speak

and assist in celebrating an

Ecumenical Eucharist with

other pastors in the larger

Cursillo community. On the

morning of the Songfest there

will be a Methodist cursillo staff

meeting on site at the same

time. They will join us for

Communion, a covered dish

lunch and the rest of the after-

noon. God has had His hand on

this effort from the very start.

Thanks to the Methodist Secre-

tariat Chairman Robert Harris

and our own Secretariat Chair-

man Nick Nichols we have a

wonderful opportunity before

us. Please share this Good

News with those you know in

every denomination to come,

sing, fellowship and eat well yet

again.

Child care will be available.
