WHAT ARE THE SEASONS?

The year is divided into 4 different sections. These “sections” are called seasons. Each season is different, and has different climate and weather patterns.

SPRING

SPRING

Spring is the first of the four seasons that we are going to look at. During spring, the sun shines more and the days get warmer. The plants and trees start to grow again after a long winter, and the spring rain showers help them along as they grow.

SUMMER

SUMMER

Summer is the next season that we are going to look at. During the summer, there are long, hot days. Plants such as summer fruits and vegetables have finished growing and are ready to be picked.

AUTUMN

AUTUMN/ FALL

The next season that we are going to look at is autumn. Autumn is also called fall, since the leaves of many trees change colors from green to red, orange, and yellow and eventually fall off of the trees. Throughout this season, the days become cooler.

WINTER

WINTER

Winter is the last of the four seasons. Winter is very cold, and some places get lots of snow during the Winter. Most of the trees have lost all of their leaves by the time winter comes, and many animals hibernate, or sleep, during the winter months.

REPEATING SEASONS

After winter has passed, spring comes again. The seasons keep on repeating in the same order year after year.
