    Philip, below are our proposals for site visits to the above mentioned militarycomm ands in August. We would appreciate your comm ents and suggestions.I. Proposed Travel Dates: Sunday August 17 - August21

    We propose that we depart W ashington, DC on August 17 and begin with a visiton August 18 to JSOC for one day. We would then travel to Florida on the evening ofAugust 18 th to visit USCENTC OM and USSOCO M. We will have a day at USSOC OMand possibly two days to visit USC ENTCO M and SOCCENT. Our travel would concludeon August 21 and we could return to W ashington, DC the evening of A ugust 21.We propose we begin each site visit with briefings and conclude by meeting withthe Comm ander and any other members of the Com mand the Comm ander deemsappropriate (we should be open to m eeting w ith more than just Com manders, forexample, possibly the J3 and J5).An issue we must decide upon prior to contacting the sites is whether themeetings with the Commanders will constitute interviews or background briefings. Wenote that some of these Com manders (fo r example, General John Abizaid) may bescheduled for a formal interview at a later date and will likely participate in Com missionhearings. We appreciate your thoughts on this matter.
