User Interface

Tool bars

Provides the ability to create view or hide tool bars based on module groups. Custom tool bars can be added for external programmes for ease of use. On release the ability to add external icons will be available.

External Tools

External Software programs can be linked to the Tharstern toolbar, along with the program icon. This allows access to other programs from within Tharstern.

Examples would be:Word, Outlook, Sage, Goldmine and Metrix.

Shortcuts

Ease of use feature enabling the user to create, open or visit recent modules and page entries. This interface can be positioned in any position on screen or hidden when not required. A side bar tab is available for ease of selection.

Shortcuts - Tasks

A users outstanding task will now be displayed as the priority part of the Shortcuts menu. This window will show all uncompleted tasks for the user with overdue task highlighted in red, Tasks due during current date in blue and pending tasks highlighted in black.

Shortcut settings can be a global set up by the Administrator, or an Indervidual set up by the user. This allows the user to decide what order the four screens appear within the shortcut bar. (Open / New / Recent / Tasks).

If the site is using tasks then the task bar could be selected to allways appear at the top of this group. If this is the case, when a user moves around the system into other mosdules, the task pane will always reset to the top, and refresh the details within. Only outstanding tasks for that user will be shown with the following text colours indicating the task status:

Red - OverdueBlue - Required TodayBlack - Required in future

Workbook

A tabbed structure viewed at the foot of the screen, This features will display the most recent modules and documents for ease of navigation while using the software. This workbook display can be switched off.

Status BarThe status bar at the foot of all input screens can be switch on/off from the view menu. The users saved filters can be easily activated from the status bar.

Full Screen

In scheduling an new view option to view full screen can be enabled. This will reduce icons size and display as one row, while increasing the size of the schedule display area. This feature will be useful for large screen displays within a production/planning environment.

List Colour Bands

To enlighten the experience of dealing with large amounts of listed information, it is now possible to configure and colour to a global system style on all screens within the software. It is recomended that light pastel colours be used due to coloured type on white background.

Documents & Reports

Existing Organisations can now import Documents and Reports into the SQL Server from any local PC. It is then possible when setting up documents and reports to associate with users and/or groups without the need to visit all computers on the network. Centralised document and report paths are now created and a common set up is now required for auto attaching of documents by type. Word rtf documents can now be converted to .doc format for emailing. Open Office support has been added to complement existing formats of Word/and Crystal. Auto Attachments added to Sales Invoices, additionaly the breakdown & Cost sheet have been moved from reports to documents. Report section has user definable categories, individual module icons have been removed. Standard users do not have access to reports unless assigned by System Administrator or user with access rights. Crystal report Parameter name displayed on document set up screen.

Attached Documents

Documents can be dragged for a folder or desktop onto one of the following main list items: Print Management, Estimating, Job Costing, Event, Purchase Orders and Stock item.

Documents can also be dragged directly into the documents tab within all the modules.When this operation is performed a dialogue box appears requesting a title and available link options. For E4Print and IDC options to be used, these need to be selected within document options from within the Tharstern Control Centre.

Auto Drag and Drop

Documents can be dragged from the deskto onto any main module icon, and if named correctly they will open prompt to attach to the item within the chosen module. To name a documents requirted for attaching start with the item number (Estimate / Campaign / Job etc).

Alternative Text

Throughout the whole of the Tharstern software it is now possible to replace the standard language and terminology with an foreign language or simple regional changes. Within user rights the option to use alternative text must be ticked. once this is in place it is then possable to replace the standard termenology with new alternative or language.

Accounts Link

Improvements to set up and management of the accounts set up within Tharstern. We now only create the users within Tharstern allowing indervidual users different options when transactions required from the accounts package,

Options: Exceed Credit Limit / Bypass on Stop / Add New Accounts / Merge Account Differs.

Accounts Checking

When an Account ‘ On Stop’ is forced passed in Tharstern, the user that preformed this action will have the details logged in the journals of that transaction.

Account ‘On Stop’ warining has been added at the estimate stage.Account ‘On Stop’ warning has been added at the delivery stage.Email address has been added to the ‘Syncronisation’ routine.

Value Added

In the Value Added screen the Total Hours for the 3 labour types are now displayed: n the Value Added screen a ‘Value Added’ per hour figure will be displayed. This is all the productive hours within Origination / Printing / Fininshing divided by the value added amount.

Multi Product

Ability now included to change more figures within a product series (£/VA/CS/NP) can all be changed. When all the products are loaded at that time changing the customer on a multi product estimate will offer to make this change to all the products in the series. New Products can be added to the estimate from within the product window.

Inks

Ink profiles can be linked to Customers so only they have access to them and are not available for use by other customers.

Binding Order

By selecting from the main menu within an estimate we can now select ‘Binding Order’. This allows for the paper line structure on an estimate to be structured to suit production and binding sequence.

Section Names

Text replacement codes and a ‘build’ process are used to generate the Section name text label, Auto description codes to enable the user to define sealed and Working Method text, default values for Bleeds, Trims and spine measurements. Reset section count enhancement for JDF work types. Force entry of section names after a paper line is completed.

Auto Description CodesAuto text description codes can now be set up to replace the standard terminolgy for section name information for both ‘Sealed’ and ‘Working Method’.

Stock Types

Within Stock types the facility to now add a ‘Make Ready’ factor to a stock type has been added. This works in harmony with previous setting for ‘Run Speed’ and ‘Ink Usage’ ratios.Make ready default setting would be 1.00 and if a 50% increase in time was required for make ready on this stock type then setting would be 1.50.

Notes

When copying estimates or products within a estimate a new window will appear if ‘Notes’ have been entered on original estimate.

Creating a new estimate form existing will prompt to overwrite the following details as listed within the screen below.

Recalculate Estimate

When an estimate with manual price change and estimate locks is copied then the user will be presented with a screen asking what requires recalculating. Therafter the user will be asked to confirm if Price Bands, Locks and Manual Pricing are required to be recalculated.

Run On

Run on calculation has been re-engineered, as an example if a job is for 10,000 with a 1,000 run on then estimating will calculate the multiple quantity price of 11,000 deduct price for 10,000 leaving revised run on of 1,000. This will match the multiple quantity price of 11,000.

The Main Run on figure can NOT be altered.

Multiple Quantity Run On

The Multiple Quantity run on figures are also no editable, and if a Multiple Quantity sales figure is altered then the fgure will be locked and the run on will be removed.

Locked Multiple Quantity

If a locked multiple quantity is entered into the main estimate quantity field the user will be shown a promt asking if the estimate is to use the locked price or the normally calculated price.

Suggested Spoils

When suggested spoils have been set on a Print Cost Centre these will be added to the paper input after selection of Print Cost Centre. This fgure will automatically recalculated depending on the quantity, number of colours and level of working.

Allow ‘Auto Wash Up’.

When a press based machine is set up (not unit based) a machine and labour operation for a Wash Up can be created. This will now only apply if the ink profile being used contains at least one colour marked as ‘ Washable’. If no colours within the ink profile are marked, then the wash up will be excluded from the calculation.

Update of Finished Size

When an estimate contains multiple paper lines and the job requires a size change, by entering the new size in one of the paper lines a promt will appear asking if all paper lines require updating. This is not allowed on the following work types.

Component Factor

Component factor when selected within a machine and labour ‘One Off’ item will allow this operation factor to be altered from within a paper line on an estimate. This would be used to add multiple ONE OFF operations to a paper line when the sections increase.

Added to the main front list estimate screen is the following headed options:

Foreign Currency / Delivery Code / Delivery Name / Delivery Address.

MultiWeb Estimating

Multiweb printing has been designed to cater for Web Printers with machinery that has the ability to run multiple paper webs inline on one machine.Examples of this would be:2 x 16pp Sections - known as Double Webs1 x 16pp, 1 x 8pp Section - Known as One and a half Webs1 x 4pp Section, 1 x 16pp Section - Known as One and a quarter Webs.

This feature will allow for different materials and colours to be set up on one paper line as this is only one pass on a multi web press. This then creates a true value for material usage, and also the correct resource time for planning and scheduling.

Folding Headers & Imposition Templates

Folding Headers & Imposition templates are used in creating the JDF ‘Stripping’ data that is required to assist a layout/imposition programme how a job is folded. This stripping data is part of the JDF file that will also contain all the details of the job and how it is planned to be produced and on what machines or operations (know as resources) it will follow.

New Layout input screen

Within a paper line for ‘Flat Sheets’ it is now possible to select the correct imposition template and then add bleed/trim/spine milling measurements for the system to take into consideration. Signature size is now altered on the layout screen.

Roll Label Enhancement

Roll Label work type has been enhanced and now offers the ability to set the number of cutters on a machine, a no printing option to allow for label conversion only. Materials and Cutters (Dies) can be marked for unsuitable machines. A Custom Image and description can be added to Cutters, this will then show within a peper input screen on a estimate.

Cutters (Dies)

When no cutter available at the size required then the user has the option to use an existing cutter within a % tolerance (default 10%), Or create a virtual cutter, that will create a purchase requisition if the estimate becomes a job. If this virtual cutter is ordered, then on receipt a cutter ref can be added and this new cutter will now be available for future estimating.

Machines

A Label machine can be set up to limit the number of colours, number of dies and if it can run main printed materials and additional unprinted material.

Digital Estimating

Digital estimating will now use the selling rates within a Digital Cost Centre, to calculate the digital printing price on an estimate. The actual cost of digital estimating will now be taken from hourly cost rates as set up in machines and labour items, this will be added as part of the cost along with outwork click charge, paper and any other materials or services.

Digital Paper LineBinding and Format details have now been added to Digital Work type paper line.

Auto Posting of Costs

From within the main data fields it is now possable to post estimated cost directly to jobs as soon as the job reaches a stage of ‘Finished Production’. It is at this point that the value included in the estimated will be posted to the job as an actual cost. This feature will be useful for sundries materials (inks / boxes / tape) but can be used within any of the following tables. For stock items the tick box ‘Exclude from requisitions’ must be selected.

Job Locations

Added to the job tree is a new icon called Locations, When selected this will list the locations of wher the job is stored when using multi level whehousing. This is initally to be used for finished goods stock but with a future enhancment to the barcoding module will include WIP movements relating to the selected job.

Tolarance Levels

From wiithin Job Costing options it is now possable to set maximum tolarances for three main fields. Production, Delivery and Invoice. If the user enters a quantity that exceeds the tolerance level the user will be prompted with a warning screen.

Tolarance Levels

When using the Tolerance Levels option a job must be Produced before delivered. When using this option the ‘Default Delivery Quanity to Match Ordered Quantity’ is not available.

Right click on any estimate and a choice of options will open allowing user to:Open, Find, Advanced Find, Print.

The Action option opens up an extened list of actions to perform related to Job Costing.

Requisitions

Purchase Requisitions have now been added to the job tree structure, Requisitions will be created when a job is created from an estimate on saving. It is now possable to amend, add and process a requisition from within a job on this screen. Highlighting a Requisition and selecting the green tick will process the requisition into a purchase order or stock allocation.

The ability to create Extras from within the job has now been added, as well as the ability to amend extras from within a job these extras can be confirmed or rejected.

From within a job you can now open the linked estimate directly. By good use of the ‘Workbook’ Tabs it is possable to quickly return to an estimate from within a job, make amendments

save and jump back to the job to reload the altered estimate.
