covering the complete scope from basic design, detailed design, design approval, construction management, mechanical completion,

and precommissioning.

In close collaboration with your technical staff, we set to understand your needs and requirements for functionality. Where feasible,

and so as to be as efficient as possible during this process, we arrange for in-person meetings with our technical counterparts at their

work places to jointly develop a clear statement of requirements. A basic design is developed so as to address the functionality

requirements detailed therein, with periodic virtual and in-person meetings scheduled to assess and keep track of progress.

Compliance with functionality requirements is key, but other factors such as production schedules or budgetary constraints are

identically identified and acted upon early on.

Upon completion and approval of basic design, we can continue developing the detailed design of the mechanical packages

described in the previous stage. Moreover, we can also assist with the design review and approval process by the Classification

Societies, where applicable.

By developing both basic and detailed design of the mechanical packages we can identically share and convey insight and

particulars of the design to the manufacturer selected to undertake the fabrication, providing support during fabrication, installation

and functional testing.

In managing projects we subscribe to the internationally recognised PMI’s PMBoK (Project Management Body of Knowledge),

which ensures that good practice project management methodologies are implemented. Our design work is based on credible and

recognized standards emanating from strict working practices that surround the marine and oil and gas industries.

14

A key element of a successful project is the effectiveness of its document management system. We have a full document

management service in place that allows us to simplify the day-to-day task of tracking and reporting on document status. The

management of revisions to drawings and other files is carried out using the Alfresco document management software.

Provisions are also in place to facilitate access to our Virtual Private Network (VPN) effectively providing clients with seamless

access to generated documentation. All documents are secure with access available at all times to approved users. In accordance

with established quality processes, all data is backed up routinely, ensuring security of client information. Regular backups in the

form of hard copies can be provided to the client, shipped by courier, upon request.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT

Efficient material and equipment procurement is a key aspect in an ongoing project, with delivery on-time and to budget being a critical

aspect of the project plan. With access to product databases such as MarED, and others, recommended suppliers have been carefully

identified to ensure confidence of supply.

Our expertise lies with the identification of suppliers, goods and services, the negotiation of pricing, terms and conditions and in the

delivery to the end user. We rely on the continuous support of forwarding companies and customs agents to make sure the goods are

delivered at the destination site.

Expediting is a project-management activity implemented as part of the procurement process in order to secure the quality and timely

delivery of goods and components. We regularly perform expediting visits to the manufacturer as well as undertake follow up

communication so as to ensure that required delivery deadlines are respected.

PROCUREMENT

We are committed to an incident-free workplace by providing a safe workplace for our staff and others that work at our premises, but

also by incorporating safety into the design of our products. We operate under a risk management plan developed by a certified third

party, in accordance with local law.

SAFETY

When taking care of the responsibility of a complete package, we develop, implement, and follow up on the application of the

inspection and test plans. We recognize that mistakes or mishaps during production can occur resulting in non conformances, and we

set to make sure we are present to identify, assist, and act upon these incidents as soon as reasonably possible, in order to minimize or

rule out the possibility of an impact on the project schedule.

CUTTINGS REINJECTION UNITS

DESIGN PROCESS

We design and engineer our modules within a full 3D environment,

allowing us to efficiently plan and execute construction, and share

reliable information with the client during the design review process.

This procedure facilitates fine tuning to ensure each module is properly

fitted out, with space and weight constraints in mind, allowing the

client to confirm its fitness for purpose at an early stage of design.

Each and every discipline is included in the 3D model, and potential

interferences identified prior to production drawings being issued for

formal approval.

All participants in the design and manufacturing process are provided

with the same reference model which can be used as supporting

material during clarification discussions. Whenever changes are made

to the model, a controlled revision which is associated to the new

drawing revisions is handed over and propagated to the different

recipients.

OUR WAY

TO WORK

A successful module plan goes through recognized project phases:

Conceptual➔Basic Design➔Detailed Design & Procurement➔

Fabrication➔Installation➔Mechanical Completion & Pre

Commissioning. This plan is subject to the project relationship between

influence and cost. Influence is high in the early phases and drops off

dramatically as decisions are made and costs are committed. By

managing and being engaged on the different project stages we can

identify and act upon potential issues at an early stage so as to

minimize their impact on cost and schedule.

Conceptual and Basic Design Detailed Design

Through this stage, and working closely with the client to

analyze their requirements, we develop a basic engineering

package suitable for use as the basis for detailed design,

including preparation of a +/- 20% cost estimate.

Based on the preliminary design already approved by the

client, we develop and become holders of the 3D model

and produce 2D drawings which will be used for approval

by the Classification Society (where applicable) and

manufacture. Information is shared with the client through

a 3D model which shall be used as basis for discussion

during the different design review stages.

Procurement Construction

Supported by the detailed engineering stage, materiak take-off

(MTO) lists are generated, and equipment specification sheets

prepared and handed over to the client for review and

approval. Depending on client preferences, procurement and

expediting can be carried out by us, or the responsibility

handed over to their procurement staff who will be provided

support as deemed necessary.

Through a series of local collaborators, fabrication of the

modules can be carried out locally under our supervision.

Our direct responsibility lies in providing technical

assistance to the manufacturer, as well as defining and

implementing the inspection and test plan. We also act as

liaisons with the client and surveyors appointed by the

Classification Societies, where applicable.

Installation Mechanical Completion

All the different disciplines need to be incorporated in a

logical sequence into the package, so as to ensure there will

be no interferences. A strategy of construction and

installation is defined during the detailed engineering stage

which will be now implemented.

Once the module is fully assembled it is time to ensure all

different disciplines and sub assemblies are complete with

no outstanding issues preventing the module from being

energized to carry out the functional testing. Together with

the client, check lists are prepared and reviewed onsite to

ensure all relevant issues are identified and acted upon by

all parties involved.

Locations with strict environmental regulations require unique and

integrated waste management solutions, with traditional solutions

resulting in significant expenses in waste transportation and final

treatment and disposal of cuttings. The use of cuttings reinjection

packages allows for significant savings with respect to traditional

approaches, while at the same time ensuring compliance with “zero

discharge” requirements.

The reinjection unit above is installed onboard a Class N jack-

up drilling rig and it is shown undergoing verification prior to

the commissioning stage. OFFSHORE MODULES

CUTTINGS REINJECTION UNITS

Cuttings reinjection has, over the last few years, become

recognized as an environmentally responsible and cost-effective

disposal method for offshore drill cuttings. Our cuttings reinjection

packages, designed to exact specifications and basic design

provided by the customer, are in use in hazardous areas within state

of the art drilling rigs, for continuous injection of seawater and

slurries, drill cuttings, drilling muds and sand into subsea strata,

over a wide range of flows and pressures.

All our modules and mechanical packages are designed so as to

comply with strict rules and regulations and are engineered to

operate in harsh and hazardous environments. Where certification

is required by a Classification Society, we liaise and take

responsibility to communicate and support the design review

process, providing documtation and acting upon comments as they

are available.

In order to assess the fitness of a preliminary design, as well as its constructability, we used to rely on

mockups built in wood or using cardboard as a first stage before implementing the computer model. This

procedure allowed us to have a physical representation of the design in hand, an asset which is specially useful

during undergoing discussions.

Nowadays we have access to 3D scanning and printing capabilities inhouse although, given the time it usually

takes for complex models to generate including cleaning and post-processing, we typically outsource

production of this type of mockups to industrial printers for convenience.

Besides 3D scanning and printing capabilities we have just finished installing a new computer server fitted

with two Tesla class computing engines which we intend to use for numerical analysis.

As with software packages and the corresponding training, we regularly invest in new tools and assets that

enable us to supplement our services offerings.

We routinely introduce new software packages that enable to supplement our existing capabilities. This

process involves the physical implementation of the packages, as well as the training in their utilization.

At the present moment we have just finished the introduction of a software package developed by edf,

comprised of a frontend and pre/post processor named salome_meca, and a solver named code_aster. The

application of this software package opens new possibilities in nonlinear analysis (contact simulation,

buckling, etc) as well as thermal analysis, among others.

As part of this process we develop a validation process allowing us to confirm that the simulation results

reflect expected real world results.

F.A.Q.

COMMON QUESTIONS

WHAT IS YOUR CORE OF EXPERTISE? WILL WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK WITH YOUR TEAM SIDE BY SIDE?

We provide engineering and technical assistance services. Our main

core of expertise is the development of mechanical packages and

offshore modules, and integrating the different engineering packages,

providing technical assistance to the manufacturer and implemeting

inspection plans. While we can collaborate with local manufacturers

and, effectively, supply manufactured packages, our core of expertise is

the supply of technical and engineering know-how and capacity which

are necessary to bring the project from the conceptual stage to the

commissioning stage.

Yes. We normally task one person from our staff as key contact person.

Among their responsibilities, to visit your premises and discuss with

your technical staff during critical project stages such as development

of basic engineering, and scheduled design review meetings. Moreover,

we can integrate with your team remotely and seamlessly through

regular scrum meetings, along with your internal processes and

methodologies. Other arrangements can be discussed on a case by case

basis.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU CHARGE FOR MY PROJECT?

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CLIENT?

No two projects are alike. For that reason we are reluctant to give

"ballpark" fee estimates without first discussing the project and

establishing a statement of requirements. We would like to have the

opportunity of having this discussion with you and coming up with a

Cost-Time Resource (CTR) sheet, a document that describes each

major element in the work breakdown structure, including a statement

of work describing the work content, resources required, the time frame

of the work element, and a cost estimate.

We believe that an informed client is a powerful asset to the project

success. We also understand that you may be responsible to provide

regular updates to your internal project management or to the end user,

and we make sure to provide you with regular, reliable updates on each

stage. We can accommodate specific requests for progress reports in

terms of scope and schedule. We recognize that we may face

challenges and difficulties during development of the engineering

packages and we aim to resolve them as they occur, making sure you're

always fully informed.

HOW DO I KNOW I CAN RELY ON YOUR COMPANY?

HOW EASY WILL IT BE TO REVIEW DOCUMENTATION DURING DEVELOPMENT?

We are a small company and we can afford to dedicate time and effort

to you. Each client is critical to our continuous success. While it is not

easy to take anyone at face value, we invite you to place an enquiry and

assess the standard of care and dedication in the response, it will be

representative of the quality of the engineering package and services

which you will receive. We are committed to developing a long and

fruitful relationship with you.

We are committed to professional and honest management practices

and we make sure that our work is always in plain view. Per our quality

system we establish a series of internal milestones where the

engineering package is at a known degree of completeness. Interim

updates can be issued at these stages, frequently so as to have access to

controlled documentation which can be used as part of the design

review process.
