Annual Performance Report• “Data TEA already has”• About 75% of programs had issues
with this data entry
• Admitted, Retained, and Completed will be auto-populated
• Applied will be collected directly, one time
• Programs will no longer be required to enter this information
Simple, one-time spreadsheet collection of Applied numbers
GPA Spreadsheet
• Goal: 2018-2019 as the last year for this collection
• Building Admissions screens within ECOS• Allow for one-time admissions reporting• Allow EPPs to view and monitor admissions• Auto-populate Finisher records list• Auto-populate Test approval list
Continuing to Improve
6
On Target
All on Target. This will start with
admissions 9/1/2019 for the
2019-2020 AY.
Other things we have heard
Test approval email is confusing• New admissions will populate test
approval without issuing email. Email will issue when programs update status to “Approved for one attempt”
Retain certification fields from prior years on Finisher Records list• Identified as relatively small size. Goal
for completion in next AY.
Other Enrolled/Finisher Records mass update• On target for release 8/17/2019. This
is in time for use with 2018-19 reporting
Remove “All But Clinical” from Finisher Records list drop down options• Identified as relatively small size. Goal
for completion in next AY.• Removed from upload-to-update

days of formal admission
Create .csv with Finisher Records list information – or use
the “one at a time” user interface.
Upload or enter onto Finisher Records list

Enter all information onto GPA spreadsheet
Submit GPA spreadsheet once all
admissions are done for the year – but before
ASEP reporting deadline
Log admitted candidate demographics onto local tracker for APR
reporting
Report APR admitted numbers before ASEP
reporting deadline
Audit Test Approval with Other Enrolled
with GPA Spreadsheet with APR to ensure all
numbers match
Correct if needed, by ASEP reporting deadline
System creates associated record on Finisher Records ListStatus = “Other Enrolled”
System creates associated record for Test ApprovalStatus = “Eligible”
System calculates APR Admitted numbers
Admissions – Process as of 9/1/2019
Create .csv for newly admitted
candidates – or use the “one at a time”
user interface
Upload or enter within 7 days of
formal admission
Correct if needed, by ASEP reporting
deadline
1. Add new cert field? Add to Other Enrolled and Test Approval (same as current)
2. Candidate exits program? Remove from Other Enrolled and Test Approval (same as current)
3. Accidentally admitted a candidate? Contact TEA program specialist to delete admission (no process currently in place)
4. Why right now? To capture all AY2019-2020 admissions this way, so NO GPA SPREADSHEET IN
AUGUST 2020.
The Bottom Line:When a candidate is admitted, you report them as admitted.
Questions
Admissions File Requirements
1. File for upload in .csv2. Limit of 1,000 records at a
time3. Error lines will be listed on a
report; the rest of the file will load
4. Corrections can be made in the “one at a time” interface
5. Admissions can be viewed as downloadable reports
• TEA ID• Name (First & Last)• DOB• Email• Program Admission Date• Route• Certification License ID• Certificate Role• Overall GPA• Admission GPA• Subject Area HRS• Subject Area GPA• SAT Score• GRE Score• ACT Score
• Upload to update Finisher Records list (New!)• Other Enrolled Finisher• Other Enrolled Removed• Add new cert field
• Upload to update Test Approval (New!)• Eligible Approved for one Attempt• Eligible Removed• Add new exam
But I need to make mass updates….
Large programs can clean up their Finisher
Records list and Test Approval Rosters easily!
• Sunsetting the GPA Spreadsheet• Removing 75% of APR reporting responsibility
• 100% of data that must be checked against other sources• Removing 66% of new candidate reporting steps• Improved function with exception forms• Improved transparency / processes with survey roster review

we were twenty years ago• Texas school demographics have become more diverse
than ever.• More than 69% of our students are Asian, African American
or Hispanic, as compared to 56% twenty years ago.• Our students have greater need for support than ever
before. • In 1997-98, 49% of students we served were economically

5-Year Review
Received Question
51
Will TEA-staff considered reviewing TAC 228.35(e)(8) – 160 clock-hour practicum specifically for Educational Diagnostician candidates? School districts in the DFW area are either not accepting candidates to complete the practicum or are not allowing the Educational Diagnosticians candidate to participation in all accepts of the assignment due to liability reasons. If a candidate cannot complete a practicum on their own site, it’s near impossible for a teacher-of-record to accumulate 160 clock-hours on a different site, especially at rural district sites.
