Dennis Nona was born on Badu island in the Torres Straits and has emerged as one of australia’s most important contemporary artists. He has worked in the medium of linocut and etching since the late 1990s and these intense and detailed works tell stories of his ancestors and life on the islands and many have an educative or moral message for young people of his region.

The artist has recently made a donation of his works on paper to gold coast city gallery and to Bond University and this exhibition celebrates those gifts and the extraordinary vision of the artist. The title of the exhibitionrefers to the wash of detritus brought in and then left by the high tidebut also the act of these artworks coming into the gallery

a series of prints on display has recently been gifted by Dennis Nona to the gallery collection.

Join us for this exclusive screening of the multi award winning documentary where they say that revolution never tasted so good. when we walk into a supermarket, we assume that we have the widest possible choice of healthy foods. But in fact, over the course of the 20th century, our food system was co-opted by corporate forces whose interests do not lie

in providing the public with fresh, healthy, sustainably-produced food.

Food Fight is a fascinating look at how agricultural policy and food culture developed in the 20th century, and how the food movement has created a counter-revolution against big agribusiness.
