The Merlin full body harness has been designed for industrial rope access and technical rescue, where personnel wish to have either a wrap around or step in fit, with a pull over the head style. The wrap around fit has been constructed into all the SAR multi purpose harness range. This innovative pattern includes two independent front waist attachment points in different profiles. This is so the rope access and rescue technicians can utilise any type of rope descender without twisting the system.

The Merlin is also fitted with upper ‘D’ connection points at the front and rear for safety back-up and fall arrest attachment. The laminated foam and shaped shoulder pads give additional comfort to the user.

The Merlin harness comes in two different forms, the standard and Merlin Tech which has the addition of a fixed chest ascender. This gives an advantage to those who employ ‘frogging’ techniques for ascending.

KESTREL 2FALL ARREST HARNESS

KESTREL 4FALL ARREST HARNESS

Specifications: Kestrel 2 & 4 Fall Arrest Harnesses

The Kestrel fall arrest harness has been upgraded and now comes in two styles with two colour choices. The harness has a front and rear attachment point for fall arrest connection. We recommend the front be used for fall arrest. The side ‘D’s on the Kestrel 4 can be folded back when not in use, therefore reducing risk of inadvertent snarling.

Quick clip buckles can be fitted on the leg straps and fixed padding can also be fitted to any of the Kestrel range when ordered. The padding is made of sandwich laminated foam to give added comfort when donning, this also makes the harness easier to fit as thepadding takes any twists from the webbing.

Fitting is normally wrap around but can be left fastened at the chest/sternum connection to give a quicker fitment. Shoulder adjustment buckles use two square link buckles and once adjusted to fit the user will not slip during everyday use.

The leg connection is the standard square link and twin slot buckling system with a heavy duty elastic tidy for any excess webbing to be captivated and the alternative QC fitting also has an elastic tidy.

PRO ALLP TECHRAD

The Pro ALLP Tech was the result of years of technical development and research and was originally designed for technical rescue. The screw control system of the Pro ALLP Tech has a very fine speed control which allows the technical rope user a finer management of descent, especially in rescue.

The Pro ALLP Tech was the first descender to be tested to prEN 12841-C rope adjustment devices. Most personnel are lead to think that EN341 is the standard for descenders but this is incorrect. EN341 is descenders for rescue, which is a system, not an item of equipment, to fully conform with this standard the descender must be sold with the correct rope as a package.

Our RAD (Rope Adjustment Device) evolved from our A-B Descender. Both multi functional devices, the RAD is smaller, lighter and has been tested to and conforms with more European standards for a wider variety of applications.

This means that the RAD can be used as a stand alone device in many more environments, therefore reducing the need for multiple devices and increased cost. The RAD is capable of being used in many environments as a belay device or as a descender.

The Pro ALLP Tech was tested under laboratory conditions and was proven to be compatible with low stretch ropes of 10.5 to 12.7mm from one manufacturer, in compliance with EN1891. The Pro ALLP Tech was also tested with a 200kg mass at F.F.1 1M.

We strongly recommend the that users be trained in the many applications of the Pro ALLP Tech.

The RAD is an ideal small & light weight descender for peronal military issue.

The device fully conforms to, EN12841:2006-C, EN15151:2012 Type 6 & EN358:1999

ROCKER

The Rocker is primarily used as a safety back-up in industrial rope access, fire service or technical rescue as a fall arrest device in the event of main line failure.

It can also be used as a rescue back-up device for two people as the Rocker has been tested for this purpose using a 200kg mass in a fall factor two scenario. The test was undertaken using an 11mm 32plait low stretch rope and a 1M sling. The maximum impact recorded was 5.7kN, with a slip distance of 1.10M.

The Rocker complies to EN353-2:02 EN358:00 and EN12841-A:06. We recommend it to be used with a 10 cm Rocker link sling with two Gator karabiners. This set up comes as a kit for use with the Rocker and we highly recommend it to be connected to the chest connection point on the harness. This would put the user in an upright position and is therefore compliant with fall arrest standards. It is for this reason it is also not recommended to be used with a long cow’s tail from the waist connection point of the harness.

This device can also be used in many other situations i.e. as a hauling/pulley bake etc.

The Rocker was confirmed in the U.K. H.S.E. industrial rope access investigation into items of personal protective equipment as the best performer and to have the highest degree of consistency.

We strongly recommend that users be trained in use of the Rocker.

We can now offer a sewn eye termination on any length of 11mm rope that we stock in our range. The sewn termination has passed the test requirements of a sewn termination.

All rope sewn terminations are marked up with a unique serialnumber, length, rope diameter, and year of manufacture. The sewn eye is also covered with a transparent protective sheath that helps protect the stitching against abrasion and the ingress of dirt but allows for the ease of inspection.

The Edge bars have been designed as a caterpillar/edge roller style rack. Made in two segments of four 12.5mm dia. x 100mm stainless steel fixed bars. The two segments with two bars each give a total length of 32cm. Each segment is joined by two small steel maillons so they can be disconnected and used as two separate units if required, or others can be added. The sections can be used either way up keeping the bars high or low off the surface.

We are always striving to keep at the forefront of development & design. As a result of this we have once again improved our EVAC body splint. The thickness of the lower outer skin has been increased to give more resistance to abrasion, whilst using a new lightweight material on the upper skin in order to maintain the overall weight of the item. We have also changed the head strap to give two fitting systems to give a firmer head restraint.

The EVAC has a width of 68cm across both the shoulder and hip areas and is 205 cm long, giving more security and protection to the casualty.

It has six horizontal lifting loops, three down each side, positioned along the main trunk/torso of the casualty. All the main casualty securing cross straps are of 50mm webbing with adjustable clip buckles. It has an integral body harness made from 25mm web with crutch padding and adjustable foot support with padding for extra security and to stop body slip when in a vertical or angular mode of lift.

The two main vertical lifting loops are positioned at the shoulder which gives a true vertical lifting position for the casualty. The head section can be formed into a cone to disperse debris when dragging through confined spaces.

The strap holding the Body Splint in position when rolled has a fitted pad and can be used for a head restraint by threading it around the outer loops on the coned area.

It can also be used as a lifting mat without the use of the straps. Two people can transfer a casualty from one flat area to another keeping the casualty in a horizontal mode.

ALPINE STEEL STRETCHER

The new Alpine stretchers have been designed with the ever growing population in mind. It is slightly larger all round as the section from the shoulders to the hips has been made parallel and the length has been increased by 10cm. The flat bed style of the Alpine stretchers gives excellent security for spinal injuries and makes the loading of the casualty much better than a basket type stretcher, allowing far more casualty care.

All versions of the Alpine stretcher fold in half ski to ski to facilitate easy backpacking by one person, to reduce bulk on the carriers back and for economical storage. When the stretcher is opened to receive a casualty it is not reliant on the side locks to remain secure when in the horizontal position, however the locks are required when being used for vertical lifting, when sliding/ sledging over edges or rough terrain.

The mountain rescue (MR) stretcher has a ski pan set between the head end skis for ease of sliding over rough terrain and snow but more importantly to protect the casualty’s back from rocks etc. The Alpine can be split if required for long carries into casualty sites but due to the lightness of the stretcher this is not always necessary.

Both stretchers come with casualty securing straps and lifting straps, (MR 2 metres, CR 1.2 metres) and these may be used for lifting, winching, carrying, sledging or as pulling straps.

Both come with storage bag that has a single padded shoulder carrying strap and outside pouch for inspection record card. Both will accept the fitting of carrying handles but on the MR stretcher they come as standard.

Both will accept the fitting of the SAR wheel and head protection canopy. These must be ordered separatley.

Both Stretchers Conform To:EC Declaration Of Conformity 93/42/EEC concerning medical devices. Article 11 (5) and annex VII Class 1 devices.

The mountain rescue (MR) stretcher has a ski pan set between the head end skis for ease of sliding over rough terrain and snow, but more importantly to protect the casualty’s back from rocks etc.

Also the ski sections have an added high grade polyethylene ski fixed to them as a protection for the alloy over rock, gravel or any other hard abrasive surface.

The stretchers can be split if required for long carries into casualty sites but due to the lightness of the stretcher this is not always necessary.

Both stretchers come with casualty securing straps and lifting straps, (MR 2 metres, CR 1.2 metres) and these may be used for lifting, winching, carrying, sledging or as pulling straps.

The wheel frame has been designed to be assembled quickly and easily by just slotting the foot end forks into the main front forks. The frame connects onto the stretcher bed frame in four places. The angle of the frame down to the wheel puts all the downward force onto the wheel axle as is normal with a bike.

Our stretcher handles have been redesigned to improve the fitting system. They are now fitted using a screw making it eaiser to fit and to give more security. Adaptation kits can be bought to bring the older stretcher handles in line with the latest development.

REF: QU001

The Quadpod is now being used all over the world by many rescue organisations, military units and the UK coastguard.

The Quadpod can be used in many modes and gives greater access to areas that tripods or other devices cannot access. The head of the Quadpod has multi-connection points, and up to two legs can be disconnected for special uses or transportation.

It has been found that the need to have a 2.3m - 2.5m centre height for confined space rescue is not necessary when using the Quadpod. The extraction of casualties in body splints/stretchers once partially extracted can be brought out the rest of the way at an angle giving more casualty care, room and stability.

The Quadpod comes complete with leg straps and a storage bag. These products can also be purchased separately.

QUADPOD

The Quadpod is a multi adjustable portable anchor. It was designed to supersede the tripod design to provide more stability and reliability during a rescue situation.

Specifications: Winch• Two Speed: 3 – 1 & 9 – 1.• Separate handle• Weight: 12.8Kg• Complete with storage bag

Materials: • Winch: Stainless steel and brass• Bracket: High grade alloy, pins in plated mild steel

The winch has been made to fit in various positions on our Quadpod. It can also be used separatley from the Quadpod, however this would require training for the users.

Our winch can be used with kernmantle rope size between 10.5-12.5mm. The lifting load is dependent on the type of rope and the number of turns on the capstan before fitting into the self tailing guide.

As a guide, using 11mm rope with two turns on the capstan, then a third turn placed onto the self tailing guide and into the gripping flange, the maximum load it will take is approx. 250kg. At this load the rope will start to slip in the gripping flange so as not to over load the system. One person can lift or lower two people easily.

There should always be a safety back-up system in place and a rope lock on the main rope i.e. SAR Rocker. We strongly advise that users be trained in its many uses and learn about its physical strengths and weaknesses.
