Hello Tomah Students!

5-Spot Savers Club Expanding to Six Tomah

Elementary Schools

5-Spot Savers Club: La Grange Elementary

Lemonweir Elementary Miller Elementary

Oakdale Elementary Warrens Elementary

Wyeville Elementary

How it works

Students bring money to school (nickels, pennies, quarters…)

Money is deposited during class one day each week.

The money earns interest in the student’s 5-Spot Savers Club Account.

Watch the savings grow with quarterly statements and/or online banking.

“What we want to show the children is that they are never too young to start saving, and they don’t have to save a lot to have it add up to something. This can be their very own special account separate from other accounts they may have elsewhere. The 5-Spot Savers Club teaches children to develop the habit of saving for the things they want. It’s one of the most important things they should learn about money! And with 5-Spot they can start with pennies, nickels, and dimes.”

The Great Debt Swap Refinance High-Interest Debt at TACU

What is Money Mission?

Money Mission is an online simulation that teaches life money management skills. The game is available to play through

TACU Credit Union. Teens create an avatar and live, work and make real life financial decisions in the game’s simulated

village, Mission Heights. Money Mission gives youth an opportunity to consider the financial obligations they face and

how they will deal with them in real life.

Why is Money Mission Important?

This is the only free financial literacy tool

that fulfills the need for financial

education within an interactive

competitive gaming environment. It also

rewards college bound seniors with

college scholarships.

Look for this banner!

Parent of a Teen? Know a Teen? Tell them to play Money Mission!

If you qualify, you’ll make better progress retiring those old

debts by swapping them in for lower rate credit union loans. For

example, TACU’s credit card rates are more than two percentage

points less than other cards. For new auto loans, the rate

difference averages just shy of two percentage points.

Bring your high-interest debts to a TACU loan officer. There’s a

very good chance you’ll be able to reduce your interest

rate, and that will make your payments go further and reduce

your bills faster.

You can do better at your credit union. Swap out your high-

interest rate loans for fair-rate credit union loans at TACU.

Speed Up Your 2011 Tax Return Use Direct Deposit Into Your TACU Account

TACU recommends you use direct deposit to receive your tax return money this year. Direct deposit allows your tax return money to be directly deposited into any of your TACU accounts. Here are some of the benefits:

Get the money sooner. Direct deposit refunds are issued at least one week sooner than traditional paper checks.

More convenient. It saves you a trip to the Credit Union to cash the check.

Safer. With direct deposit, there is no chance of your money getting stolen or lost in the mail.

To help you fill out your 1040 form correctly, enter our 9-digit routing number as follows:

2 7 5 9 8 2 0 5 0

In the refund section of the 1040 form, mark whether the refund is going to a savings or checking account. You can check your account balance online at www.tacuonline.com or by calling our 24/7 member access line at 1-800-235-9207.
