Australia’s first choice for aerospace engineering services

At the heart of our business is our company promise – We keep you flying.

1

Our promise – we keep you flying, drives us to deliver the fastest turn times, the highest quality workmanship, the best customer service experience and 24/7 availability.

It’s why we have invested in the region’s largest parts inventory, engine rental pool and asset base of tooling and test equipment. It’s also why we employ Australia’s best propulsion engineers and most experienced engine maintainers.

To keep you flying, we have developed strong channel partner relationships with original equipment manufacturers. These connections allow us to enhance our service delivery, ensure parts availability and act as your advocate.

Our focus is on continuous improvement. We apply our knowledge, experience and skill to deliver the highest levels of quality and reliability, making your on-time performance the best it can be. This is how we deliver true value for money.

We are committed to quality, safety and compliance and maintain certifications for CASA, FAA, EASA, Military and both ISO9001 and AS9100C, along with many other regional airworthiness approvals.

Above all, our promise is reflected in our customer service.

Our heritage in aircraft operation means we understand the aviation industry. More importantly, we take the time to understand and respond to the unique challenges faced by your business.

Wherever you are located throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and whenever you need us, we keep you flying.

“One of the reasons we have been successful is because TAE is a partner.”

Brian Hiner, F404/F414 Program Manager, GE Aviation.

Our heritage in aviation dates back to the 1960s when Rossair and Masling Airlines first started flying. Today, their high-quality maintenance arms are part of TAE.

TAE commenced operation in the year 2000, having won a major F-111 aircraft maintenance contract for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). Since then, we have grown from six employees to 200 employees. Our customer base has expanded to include military, commercial and industrial turbine engine operators, along with a wide range of aerospace and aviation businesses – from avionics to wheels and brakes. We continue to service the fast jet engines of the F/A-18 Fighters for the RAAF and look forward to the future support of the F135 engine fitted to the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter.

Our rich history and experience gives us a unique perspective on the aviation industry. It allows us to understand the challenges you face and to find ways to address them. Rather than just ‘do the job’ we always strive to use our mix of skills, knowledge and experience to bring about continual improvement for our customers to reduce your cost, improve your reliability and increase your time on wing.

Our fast but well-managed growth is the result of both organic expansion and targeted acquisition. We are now the largest engine MRO in Australasia.

The graphic charts our company’s history from the 1960s to the present day.

TAE has developed a niche aerospace manufacturing capability in Australia using the aluminium vacuum brazing technique.

“TAE is an important part of the Harris team and delivers world-class products in support of our common components effort. Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence has led to significant accomplishments.”Mark McKenzie, Supply Chain Manager F-35/Lightning II Program, Harris Corporation.

27MANUFACTURING

28

ALUMINIUM VACUUM BRAZING Aluminium Vacuum Brazing is a leading edge manufacturing process for fusing aluminium components together, which results in lightweight, high-strength, reliable end products.

Aluminium Vacuum Brazing delivers:

• superior high pressure, leak–tight joints enabling integral liquid flow and electromagnetic interference reduction

• reduced weight when compared to traditionally manufactured components

• lower component costs through reduced part counts and assembly labour

• excellent electrical and thermal conductivity compared with an adhesive bonded or mechanically attached assembly.

We now produce liquid-cooled components and enclosures for the F35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and other platforms using this capability and have received several awards for this innovative technology. The full range includes:

• cooled electronic/avionics enclosures including liquid-cooled chassis

• cold plates

• heat exchangers.

29

Aluminium Vacuum Brazing is also applicable to other high-end applications requiring increased cooling in restricted spaces. This process is not limited to aviation and extends to space based equipment and terrestrial installations.

TAE can provide our customers a raw material to fully completed component solution. This includes not only the brazing process but also the associated steps such as precision machining, heat treatment, conversion coating, painting, component assembly and any required proof pressure testing and/or flow testing. The entire process can be completed in-house to customer specific requirements.

In addition to manufacturing, TAE also has the capability to assist in the design and prototyping of components utilising this process.

To complement the Aluminium Vacuum Brazing, we can also offer a range of other specialist aerospace manufacturing capabilities under our AS9100 Rev C approval, including:

• computer controlled automatic shot peening

• heat treatment including titanium heat treatment

• component painting

• non-destructive testing

• extensive aerospace welding capability including high strength super alloys and titanium components.

All manufacturing activities are supported by a dedicated project management and engineering team.
