The Quest 2018 – A two day Festival of Arts, Science, Mathemat-

ics and IT was held at our school on 10th and 11th May 2018. The

Chief Guest was our Executive Director Group Captain

R Bhatnagar. Addressing the gathering Group Capt. Bhatnagar

remarked that making one’s presence felt was more important that

any prize that could be won. 28 schools of Delhi and NCR partici-

pated in a variety of events, as they vied for the overall champion-

ship trophy, which was finally acquired by Tagore International

School, Vasant Vihar.

Quest—The Interschool Event

Annual Prize Distribution ceremony was held on 5th May

2018 in the Aravali Hall. A total of 73 students were

awarded merit prizes.

Air Cmde Rajeev Sharma, PD Education was the guest of

honour and gave away the prizes.

Principal Mrs Amita Gupta gave the welcome address. She

congratulated the prize winners and emphasized the need

to develop right attitude and habits to achieve success.

Annual Prize Distribution

The I-Care Club of our school celebrated the Support Staff day on

1st May 2018 with a programme held in the Aravali Hall. The

programme was attended by the Executive Director Group Cap-

tain R. Bhatnagar, Principal, Vice-Principal, Admin Officer,

Middle School Coordinator, teachers, Support staff and the stu-

dents.

The students presented a short nukkad natak titled “Abhaar” de-

picting the significance of hardwork and role played by support

staff. The school choir also presented a song titled “Yunhi Chala

Chal Rahi…” to show the dedication put in by the support staff.

The Vice-Principal proposed the Vote of Thanks and the pro-

gramme concluded with the National Anthem.

Connecting with Students & Parents

A hands on activity on biotechnology was orga-nized for the students of class XII pursuing biolo-gy, at the National Science Centre Biotechnology

lab , Pragati Maidan on 25th April 2018.

Students had participated in Hands on activity

named Bio Tech : investigating DNA.

A workshop was organized on “Diabetes Aware-ness” by “HRIDAY-SHAN” an NGO at “The Air Force School” on 26.04.2018. The workshop was attended by the students of classes VII & VIII. It was an activity based workshop in which stu-dents were encouraged to adopt good eating habits

A Parent Orientation program for students of Class IX was organized in The Air force School on 21st April, 2018. Ms Preeti Parasher, the class representative, ap-prised the parents about the rules and regulations

to be followed in the school.

A Parent Orientation programme for students of Class VI was organized in the Air force School on

21st April, 2018.

Ms Jyotsana Narang, the class representative, ap-prised the parents about the important facilities like school bus, sick bay, school counselor, school library, TAFS online information system etc. were discussed. The weekly HW schedule was informed and punctuality in submission of the same was

stressed upon.

Our students participated in ‘Rendezvous’ – 2018, the Annual Inter School Fest, at Air Force Bal Bharati School, Lodi Road, on 09 May

2018 and brought laurels to school.

The following students participated in the event “Parikrama”. Senior Category Kartik Kalra (X-E) Reya Bhatia (X-E) Junior Category Bhoomi Singh (VIII-E) Kanika Pandey (VIII-E) They took part in Travel Bro-

chure Design Competition and secured third position.

Yashaswi Nagrale and Riddhima Rishabh, belonging to classes VII and IX, respective-ly, did the school very proud. They brought home the third prize for both the events that they participated in. Riddhima took part in the English declamation contest called Resonance. Yashaswi took part in the mono-acting competition titled Role Roald

Dahl.

An Inter school competition of Model making was conducted at Air Force Golden Jublilee Institute by the maths department on the topic

A – Symmetrical . A team of two –Chaitanya Mangla (VII D) and Harsh Kumar (VIII A) won

the first prize in the competition.

Raktim Banerjee of Class X A participated in the IQF English Oration . He delivered an extract from Swami Vivekananda’s “Lectures from Co-lombo to Almora”. Raktim did the TAFS family proud by securing the second position in the

competition.

TAFS ians at Inter-School Events : We Went, We won !!!

An Inter house English debate was conducted on 27th April 2018, on the topic “The Majoritarian Nationalism is the New Grammar of Indian Politics”. Stu-dents of class IX and X from the five houses actively debated the topic. Ms. Bindia Rajpal and Ms. Sumita Balram were the judges for the event. The children in the audience listened to the speakers with great interest and it was a great learning experience for the students.

The results are as follows: 1st position : Latif house 2nd position : Arjan house 3rd position : Subroto house Best speaker : Dhun Chaturvedi (IX-C, Arjan house) Best interjector : Kritin Pandey (X-C, Pratap house)

Physical Education department has organized “Students vs Teach-ers” cricket match on 21st April 2018.The day provided an oppor-tunity to students and teachers to form a bond with each other.

The Health and wellness club students at TAFS did a Poster mak-ing Activity on 24th April, on the topic "Stress & Teenage disor-ders".The students used colorful pictures, animations and Displayed Artistic skills to show how teenagers get effected by diet, hormones, hobbies and Technology around them.

The Air Force School celebrated Earth Day on April 23, 2018. On this occasion a special assembly was conducted, where students of EVS club performed various cultural activities. Speaking on the occasion our Principal Mrs. Amita Gupta encouraged students to grow more trees and inspired them to take care of the plants around

them in the school campus.

The programme culminated with all the students & staff taking a pledge to look after our Mother Earth.

A poetry writing and recitation activity was organized by the Eng-lish Department for the students of Class VI on 12th April, 2018. The activity was based on understanding the basic elements of writ-

ing a Diamante and Acrostic poem.

The Dramatics club of our School organized a Nukkad Natak for class IX & X. The Natak carried an important message that “Knowledge is more important than Money. It is knowledge because of which money is earned”.

To make learning effective and fun filled Mathematical Tambola was organized for class VIII. The objective of this activity was to challenge students’ thinking and develop their math’s problem solv-

ing skills.

The Photography Club of The Air Force School organized an activity called ‘Explore the Unexplored’ on 8th May 2018 for classes VI-VIII. The activity aimed at instilling a love for photography among the students. It also aimed at developing skill of appreciating Na-

ture & being observant.
