High School students try Adulting! Today, our HS students engaged in a life budgeting simulation. This event was put on by Sound Credit Union. They first

received a profile where they determined their profession, income, single/married status, and if they had children. Then they

would walk around to different tables that represented things that adults must budget for.

Our HS students shared how expensive child care was. Some students

who had profiles with multiple children realized how their own parents

have had to make sacrifices to balance the budget. Further, students

understood the value of having an education or training for a job. They

compared how one person’s profession allowed them to buy a bigger

house, car,or support their families. This event truly helped them see

the realities of budgeting as an adult.

Peace, Carlito Umali

Leadership Opportunities for Staff Principal Spencer, our dean, Ms. Willingham, and our instructional coach, Mr Umali spoke on a panel regarding

leadership for schools. They addressed teachers and leaders from 12 different school districts around the Puget Sound

area. They shared the system building that has been done to support student’s behavior in our school through a restorative

practice approach. They also discussed the importance of working from a vision statement and guiding principles which

have been developed by the TAF and FWPS partnership.

Lastly, they spoke about how they want to build a school that truly allows our kids

to use PBL and STEM to transform their lives and their families lives.
