TAGEOS. REDUCED COSTS WITH CERTIFIED PERFORMANCE.

Based in Montpellier, France, with sales offices in Bentonville, Arkansas, and New Delhi, India, Tageos

designs, manufactures, and sells globally patented 100% paper-based passive UHF RFID labels for item-

level tagging of consumer goods and business assets.

Tageos redesigned the UHF RFID label from the ground up to save its customers money without

compromising performance. Made from 100% paper – with no plastic inlay – the company’s certified RFID

adhesive labels come at a significantly lower price yet match and sometimes exceed the performance of

plastic inlay-based tags.

Designed and produced under one roof in the company’s state of the art manufacturing plant in France,

Tageos labels are manufactured to order and delivered directly to end customers across the globe.

The Tageos team’s driving ambition is to allow its customers to achieve double-digit percentage savings on

their RFID budget. For larger organizations, the savings made possible by Tageos may potentially add up to

millions of dollars each year.

The company's customers include DHL™ and METRO C&C™ in France, French jewelry retailer Cleor™,

German engineering group SMS Siemag™ in India, French e-commerce leader Vente-privée.com™, Italian

Fashion retailer Sandro Ferrone™, French apparel leader Lacoste™, Argentinian prosthesis and medical

implant manufacturer Promedon™, and global automotive manufacturer Renault-Nissan™.

Tageos is the RFID label company.

Page 2: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

The Tageos process outputs ready-to-use 100% paper-based UHF RFID hang tags and self-adhesive labels. Aspects of

the company’s exclusive label design and manufacturing process are covered by a worldwide patent. Other elements are

closely guarded trade secrets.

While significantly lower cost than plastic inlay-based labels, Tageos labels match and in some instances exceed their

performance. Leading RFID certification bodies in Europe and the United States, including the University of Arkansas, the

European EPC Competence Center (EECC) and the University of Parma certify Tageos labels for demanding item-level

tagging applications.

In May of 2012, to fund its industrial build-up and its international commercial expansion, Tageos received funding from

investors that include the French government and Newfund, a Paris-based technology venture capital firm – with dry

powder set aside to cover future funding needs.

The company’s state of the art high capacity production plant in Montpellier went online in July 2012 and is working 24/7

servicing customers around the world. 2012 saw the opening of two sales offices, one in the United States and another in

New Delhi, India.

Since its plant went online, in little over six months in operations, Tageos secured key customers references around the

globe including DHL Supply Chain™ and cash & carry retail leader METRO™; French jewelry chain Cleor™; French e-

commerce leader Vente-privée.com™, leading car maker Renault-Nissan™, Italian fashion retailer Sandro Ferrone™ ,

SMS India™, a division of German group SMS Siemag™, French fashion manufacturer & retailer Lacoste™ , and

Argentinian prosthesis and medical implant manufacturer Promedon™.

In April 2013, Tageos was chosen as a Red Herring Top 100 Europe, a prestigious list honoring the year’s most

promising private technology ventures from the European business region.

An ISO-9001 certified company since April of 2013, Tageos is armed and ready to allow organizations around the world

to cut their item-level RFID budgets.

THE TAGEOS VISION FOR A LOWER COST RFID LABEL

Two hurdles that stood in the way of RFID adoption have fallen in recent years:

• Industry standardization now ensures all readers may read all labels.

• Advances in read rates, accuracy, and distance mean RFID now meets the performance requirements

for item-level tagging.

With those advances, item-level RFID has witnessed a first leap in adoption. Leading global apparel retailers

and apparel manufacturers are adopting item-level tagging from the manufacturing floor to the store aisle.

Other early adopters within the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, wine and spirits, medical supply, and jewelry

retailing sectors are actively engaged in item-level RFID evaluation and pilots.

As a result, the market for RFID consumables is now booming. According to research firm IDTechEx, the

global market size for item-level tagging was € 180M in 2010, and will experience a compound annual

growth rate (CAGR) in excess of 50% through 2015.

Tageos was founded on the conviction that the last hurdle that has kept item-level RFID adoption from

growing even faster is the cost of the UHF RFID label.

By taking substantial cost out of the RFID label while matching and sometimes exceeding the performance

of plastic inlay-based labels, Tageos ambitions no less than to slash RFID budgets and accelerate adoption

of item-level tagging on a global scale.

SAVINGS BY DESIGN: AN RFID LABEL REBUILT FROM THE GROUND UP

Tageos dedicated years to redesigning the UHF RFID label, from the ground up, to help its customers

achieve significant savings on their RFID label purchases without compromising performance.

• Tageos inherits some of its cost advantage from its superior 100% paper-based RFID label design that is

inherently lower cost than alternate plastic inlay-based designs.

• The company’s cost advantage also stems from its integrated manufacturing process that unites all the

steps needed to produce ready-to-use labels, bringing together world class R&D, manufacturing, and

quality control under one roof – and doing away with subcontractors.

Tageos passes on its savings, helping its customers achieve substantial savings on their annual RFID

budget.

THE SMART SIMPLICITY OF A 100% PAPER-BASED LABEL

The Tageos RFID label represents a clean break from earlier plastic inlay-based labels – where optimization

of the price to performance ratio wasn’t the key design goal.

Tageos passive UHF RFID labels are 100% paper-based. They do away with plastic inlays. The label’s

antenna and chip are assembled directly on a printable paper roll in a single continuous manufacturing step.

The antenna is made of aluminum that is deposited on the paper roll using a closely guarded secret process.

Versus alternative antenna manufacturing processes, such as those that use engraving and stamping, this

manufacturing process is intrinsically lower cost as well.

Tageos labels come equipped with tag silicon from industry leaders NXP™, Alien Technology™, and

Impinj™.

A Tageos label uses 50% less glue, no plastic, and creates 90% less waste than traditional tags.

Page 7: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

SAVINGS BY DESIGN

Versus alternate production processes and label designs, Tageos achieves substantial savings in the

following areas:

1. Tageos does away with other labels’ costly plastic inlay. This enables two distinct savings. On the one

hand, the cost of material that goes into the production process goes down; on the other hand, the need

for costly conversion of the inlay into a paper label is eliminated altogether as well.

2. The Tageos proprietary aluminum antenna, whose production method is a closely guarded trade secret,

is cheaper to manufacture.

3. Tageos uses 50% less glue and creates 90% less waste. The leaner Tageos production process

benefits customers, and the planet.

4. A Tageos label carries none of the margins of the subcontractors who will typically convert plastic inlays

into printable labels.

5. Customers who choose to have their Tageos labels pre-printed with their branded colors, text, and

logos save even more on label finishing costs.

6. Tageos customers who opt to get their labels tailor-designed to the shape, size, and paper stock of their

choice achieve further savings on conversion and finishing.

Page 8: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

READY-TO-USE

To best meet its customers’ various labeling requirements, Tageos RFID labels roll off the company’s

machines in two ready to use formats:

1. Printable self-adhesive labels.

2. Printable hang tags.

A Tageos label is manufactured to order, and sent directly to its end customer or the customer’s service

bureau.

It is ready to be encoded, thermally printed, and attached to just about any item, whether jewelry, cosmetics,

apparel, or almost any asset needing high performance, lower cost RFID tracking.

The world’s leading vendors of printer encoders, Zebra Technologies™, Toshiba™, and Printronix™, all

certify Tageos labels.

NEXT-GENERATION DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING

When you’re a new kind of RFID company you don’t just redesign your labels, you also rethink how to

develop and manufacture them. Tageos built its business with everything – R&D, manufacturing, and quality

control – under one roof to squeeze costs out of producing RFID labels.

IN-HOUSE DESIGN

Tageos has a complete range of labels to suit its customers’ needs. But if they have specific requirements,

the company’s engineers are available to make sure they’re met.

LEAN MANUFACTURING

Tageos has squeezed costs from established RFID label production processes: the company integrated all

the steps to manufacture its ready-to-use labels in a single process.

QUALITY CONTROL

Tageos RFID labels are individually tested at the end of the manufacturing process. ISO-9001 certified,

Tageos prides itself on its best-in-class yield.

EASY TO BUY

Tageos products and manufacturing are efficient. And so is buying them. Customers may simply call the

company, place their order, and their ready-to-use labels are produced in house – and delivered directly to

their door.

Page 10: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

A COMPANY WITH QUALITY, INNOVATION, & CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN ITS DNA

Tageos was recently rewarded with an ISO-9001 certification from Lloyd’s Register. The new ISO-9001

certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

• Tageos benefits from having put in place formal product management and product marketing functions.

This puts the company in a position to better anticipate its customers’ future item-level tagging needs.

• The company’s close integration of the product management, product marketing, manufacturing and

R&D functions puts in in a position to rapidly innovate and roll out the item-level RFID labels of tomorrow.

• Also, the quality management team at Tageos takes active steps to continuously improve the company’s

processes – from R&D to manufacturing, on to marketing, and sales.

Page 11: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

Tageos Corporate Presentation 11

CERTIFIED PERFORMANCE AT A LOWER PRICE

Tageos customers can rely on the company’s RFID labels to deliver the stringent performance they expect

for their item-level tagging applications.

Tageos antennas are thinner than those manufactured using alternative techniques such as engraving and

stamping.

Traditionally, thinner antennas have offered lower performance than thicker ones. The Tageos team was

able to elegantly circumvent this via exclusive geometric antenna designs that are optimized to yield top

performance.

Consequently, Tageos labels match and sometimes exceed the performance of competing plastic inlay-

based designs. This is recognized the world’s leading RFID labs – the University of Arkansas, the European

EPC Competence Center (EECC), and the University of Parma – who have awarded the company’s labels

with demanding, item-level performance certifications.

• The University of Arkansas certifies the EOS-500 and the EOS-400 for use in apparel applications.

• The EOS-300 is under review for certification in apparel applications by the University of Arkansas.

• The EECC certify the EOS-300, EOS-400, and the EOS-500 for use in apparel and logistics applications.

Page 12: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

Tageos Corporate Presentation 12

“The Tageos EOS-500 label meets the requirements for Denim, Polybagged Apparel, and Hanging Apparel.

It has been added to the approved list.”

University of Arkansas – July 2012

“The TAGEOS EOS-300 has its strength in proximity situations; it loses only about 50% of its read range

when the space between tags in a stack is very small. The remaining read range is very constant which

predestines it for apparel use cases like inventory with an RFID handheld.”

EECC – March 2012

“The TAGEOS EOS-500 tag has a good read range consistency. It achieves a read range of 6m on products

with high permittivity and up to 9m on products with low permittivity in the ETSI band. The EOS-500 is

suitable for different logistical applications across worldwide UHF RFID frequencies due to its broadband

frequency response.”

EECC – April 2012

Page 13: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

TAGEOS LABELS ARE MORE ECO-FRIENDLY

According to Tageos’ internal research, 2.3 tons of PET are saved by Tageos for every 10 million tags

compared to plastic inlay-based manufacturing processes. Tageos also estimates that it uses 50% less glue

in its manufacturing process. Tageos estimates that the amount of aluminum used for the manufacturing of

its antenna is between 10 and 100 times less than the amount used in conventional subtractive processes.

In a 2012 study funded by the European Commission, Rand Corporation™ calls out Tageos as offering

labels that are more recyclable than those of its plastic inlay-based competitors.

100% paper-based, Tageos labels can be easily torn, unlike plastic inlay-based alternatives. That makes

them ideally suited for anti-tampering applications in the wine and spirits, cosmetics and pharmaceutical

sectors.

10 REASONS TO SWITCH TO TAGEOS

The Tageos value proposition is simple: the company offers a lower priced UHF RFID label that matches or

exceeds the performance of alternate plastic inlay-based labels.

SAVINGS BY DESIGN

Thanks to its groundbreaking design, the Tageos 100% paper, ready-to-use, passive UHF RFID labels have

no plastic inlay. They inherently cost much less, yet match or exceed the performance of plastic inlay-based

labels.

LEAN MANUFACTURING

The company’s engineers worked for years to develop a design and manufacturing process that successfully

squeezes costs – every inch of the way – out of the RFID consumable.

ALL UNDER ONE ROOF

Thanks to a big rethink on how to make RFID labels, Tageos manufacture them in one single integrated

process, under one roof: Tageos removed third party margins, generating substantial savings that it passes

on to customers.

NO SUBCONTRACTORS

The company’s state-of-the-art plant only consumes electricity, paper, aluminum, a drop of adhesive, and

industry leading tag silicon from the world’s top manufacturers. Tageos doesn’t use plastic inlays or

externally made antennas.

Page 23: Tageos Corporate Presentation with Notes

Tageos Corporate Presentation 23

SUBSTANTIALLY LOWER PRICE

Because Tageos passes on its savings, its prices are consistently lower, helping customers to make

welcome cuts to their annual RFID budget.

READY TO USE

The world's top vendors of printer encoders Zebra Technologies™, Toshiba™, and Printronix™ certify the

company’s ready-to-use labels.

TAMPER PROOF

With no plastic inlay, Tageos’ 100% paper labels can easily be torn, making them ideal for anti-tampering

applications in the wine and spirits, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors.

LESS WASTE, MORE SAVINGS

Bringing even more savings, the Tageos label produces 90% less waste than traditional tags, and uses 50%

less glue, and no plastic.

SCALABLE PRODUCTION

Tageos has production capacity to meet demand for hundreds of millions of labels, and it can scale up within

weeks to meet sudden increases in demand.
