The Tahoma Choir program currently consists of a Concert Choir and a Treble choir.
Each group has between 50 and 60 members.
The choirs perform at five evening concerts during the school year, and also participate in local
competitions.
The TJH Choirs have a tradition of excellence, consistently placing among the top choirs in the
region at competitions.
Singers in the program learn basic vocal technique that can be applied to any style of music. They also learn the
difference between solo singing and ensemble singing. Choir students learn to read music and expand their abilities in all
areas of musicianship. The singers explore a variety of choral music and experience the joy of creating beautiful and
exciting sounds on a daily basis.
Joining the TJH Choir program is also an excellent way to prepare to be a member of the award-
winning Tahoma High School Choirs.
Mr. Riggs has been the choir director at TJH for the past 15 years. He is also the choir director at Tahoma High School, and the music director for
the THS spring musical.
“Choir is a fun experience that gives you the skills and proper technique to sing to your full
potential.”
“I believe anyone can sing, even if they don’t think they can. It does take work, but I assure
you it is the fun kind of work.”
