Step 2 Visa-Exempt Entry and Landing Visas

(1) Category 1-Visa-Exempt Entry Countries eligible for Visa-exempt entry:

The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 30 days：Malaysia, Singapore.

Requirements: 1. A passport with validity of at least six months upon entry . ‧visa-exempt entry only applies to foreign visitors holding formal passports (i.e. ordinary, official/service and diplomatic passports), not including those holding emergency, temporary, other informal passports or travel documents. ‧Japanese passport holders with their passports valid for more than 3 months are eligible for visa-exempt entry. ‧US passport( including emergency passport) holders with their passports valid for the period of intended stay are eligible for visa-exempt entry. 2. A confirmed return air/sea ticket or an air/sea ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure. 3. Must not be determined by border officers at ports of entry in the Republic of China (Taiwan) to be otherwise inadmissible.

Duration of stay:

1. The duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable. Foreign visitors must depart by the end of the said duration. Please click here for " Penalty for overstay". 2. Visa-exempt entry cannot be converted to other types of visas, unless the following exceptions: A. Foreign visitors entering the R.O.C. through visa-exemption may only apply for converting to visitor visas within their legal stay at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or branch offices of MOFA in case of: severe acute diseases, natural disasters or other force majeure reasons, which hold them back from leaving the R.O.C. In addition, white-collar professionals who have obtained the work permits within their legal stay may apply for work visas, together with their spouse and minors (under age 20) entering the R.O.C. at the same time. (2) Category 2- Landing Visas Countries eligible for Landing Visas :

1. Holders of Bruneian passport with validity of more than six months. 2. Holders of Turkish passport with validity of more than six months. 3. Holders of Macedonian passport with validity of more than six

months. 4. Holders of emergency or temporary passports with validity of more

than six months for nationals of those countries (except for US) eligible for visa-exempt entry.

Requirements: 1. A confirmed return air/sea ticket or an air/sea ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure.

2. Fill out an application form with two photos. 3. Visa fee of NT$ 1,600 (citizens of the countries with reciprocal

agreements shall be issued visas gratis) plus a handling fee of NT$ 800; For Turkish citizens: shall only be charged a handling fee of NT$800.

4. No criminal record or not prohibited by the local authorities. Duration of stay:

1. Bruneian passport holders: The 14-day duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.

2. Other eligible passengers: The 30-day duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.

3. The above-said landing visa cannot be converted to visitor or resident visa under normal circumstances.

Method of Lodgement

1. Passengers entering the Republic of China through the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport may apply for a landing visa at the Visa Office of Consular Affairs Bureau at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

2. Passengers who enter the Republic of China through the Taipei SongShan Airport, the Taichung Airport and the Kaohsiung International Airport shall apply for "temporary entry permit" at Border Affairs Corps of National Immigration Agency. To avoid getting a bad record in Taiwan, the holder of this permit should apply for a visa as soon as possible at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or at either of the branch offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taichung or Kaohsiung. The holder will need to submit his/her passport, temporary entry permit when applying for the visa.

3. In the event of a long national holiday, the holder may apply for a visa at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TIA) Visa Office, Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Step 3 You are required to apply a visitor VISA in before you come to Taiwan.

(1) If you are NOT Hong Kong, Macau , PRC, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, India(Identity Certificate), Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Syria passport holders, please check step 4.

(2) If you are Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cuba, Ghana, India(Identity Certificate), Iran, Iraq, Laos, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Syria passport holders, please check Step 5.

(3) If you are Hong Kong, Macau passport holder, please check Step 6. (4) If you are PRC passport holder, Please check Step 7.

Step 4 Visitor Visa Applications.

(1) Information on Republic of China Visitor Visas Eligible Persons

Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and who intend to stay in Taiwan for no more than six months for the purpose of transit; tour; visit relatives; undertake visits; undertake inspection tours; attend international conferences; conduct business; pursue short-term study; undertake short-term employment; undertake short-term missionary work; and engage in other activities in the ROC as approved by MOFA.

Requirements 1. A passport valid for at least six months; 2. A duly completed application form with two photos taken within the

past six months; 3. An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of purchase of

steamship ticket ; 4. Documents verifying the purpose of visit; and 5. Other relevant documents.

Visa Validity 1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided in accordance with these agreements.

2. For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is generally valid from three months up to one year.

Duration of stay

1. Fourteen days 2. Thirty days 3. Sixty days 4. Ninety days

Fee 1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the visa is issued gratis.

2. For other foreign nationals, the visa fees are: single entry: NT$ 1,600 (US$ 50); multiple entries: NT$ 3,200 (US$ 100).

3. NT$5,120(US$160 )，currently only for American passport holders. Remarks Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in Taiwan for sixty or

ninety days and whose visas bear no such remark as "no extension will be granted" may apply at local service centres of the National Immigration Agency for a maximum of 120 or 90 days of extensions.

Iran (1) Nationals of the designated countries may apply for the R.O.C. visitor visas for the

following purposes： Invited by the Republic of China (R.O.C.) government agencies on official missions. Participating in international meetings or activities for the purposes of religious,

athletic, or cultural exchange, which are held by the organizations set up in the R.O.C. Visiting dependents with legal residence status in the R.O.C., including spouse, family

members of lineal relationship, or siblings. Conducting economic or commercial businesses.（including accompanied spouse and

children）. Crew members intending to come to the R.O.C. to report for duty. Medical treatment. (2) Nationals from the following countries applying for visitor visas to the R.O.C. must

submit their application at the designated overseas missions： Burma/Myanmar (Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand ) Nepal (Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in New Delhi) India (Identity Certificate) (Only at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in NewDelhi) Nigeria (Only at the Trade Mission of the ROC in Nigeria ) Ghana (Only at the Trade Mission of the ROC in Nigeria )

(3) Nationals from the following countries are obliged to obtain a Guarantee from their

sponsors in Taiwan： Burma/Myanmar（The visa applicants are obliged to obtain a Guarantee from their

sponsors in Taiwan and then submit it together with other required documents of visa application to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand）

As for other particular cases of visa application from the designated countries, the overseas missions of the R.O.C. might request a Guarantee from the applicant’s sponsor in Taiwan if necessary.

(4) For visa applicants of the designated countries who intend to come to the R.O.C. to

conduct economic and commercial businesses, their sponsors in the R.O.C. may submit relevant documents together with a cable fee（50 NT dollars each）to this Bureau (Counter Nos.31～33, 3rd floor) . After examination, this Bureau will notify the designated R.O.C. foreign mission. The mission will then review other necessary documents submitted by the visa applicants in person, give an interview and make a final decision in the case.

Attention: 1. According to Article 12 of Statute Governing Issuance of ROC Visa in Foreign Passports,

the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the R.O.C. or ROC overseas missions are not required to give any reason to a visa applicant for refusal.

2. The forms of visa application and Guarantee can be downloaded from the Bureau's website and are available free of charge at the Bureau of Consular Affairs and branch offices of MOFA.

Step 6 Application for Hong Kong and Macau Passport holder.

(1) Complete the application form as attached below on Appendix 1 and prepare 1 passport-size photo in colour (with a white colour background) within 6 months.

(2) Prepare your Hong Kong or Macau passport (original & 1 photocopy) which valid for 6 months with blank pages (your original passport will return after checking).

(3) Prepare a self-addressed stamped envelope for register mail. (4) Lodge your applications with the above necessary documents and statutory fee at Taiwan’s

overseas missions (Statutory fee for single entry is NTD600). * If you authorize others (e.g. travel agency) to apply the VISA for you, then please complete

the Authorization Letter as attached below on Appendix 2. Step 7 Application for PRC Passport holder.

TAIWAN OPEN will apply for the Entry Permit for you, therefore please provide the following information: (1) Complete the following documents on Appendix 3 and 4. (2) A photocopy of your PRC passport (with validity of at least six months upon entry) or PRC

ID card. (3) If you are currently in overseas, Hong Kong, or Macau, please provide your return,

temporary visa or other relative documents. (4) One digital passport-size photo in colour (with a white colour background) within 6 months. (5) Complete and sign the Authorization Letter attached on Appendix 3 below (fill out your

personal information only). (6) Scan the above information and email to TAIWAN OPEN

(administration@taiwanopen.com.tw) before 8th January, 2016.

※ If your age is UNDER 20, your Legal Representative MUST complete the Agreement from Legal

Representative which shown on Appendix 5 and a photocopy of the Legal Representative’s passport.

※ Please obtain your Invitation Letter before you apply for your visa or entering Taiwan even you

may eligible for visa exemption program. Providing the Invitation Letter from TAIWAN OPEN with all other necessary application forms may speed up visa application process. You may also need to show your Invitation Letter to the officers when you go through the customs.

※ Players and PST must obtain their invitation letter through TAIWAN OPEN via the WTA – Check

TAIWAN OPEN will apply for the Entry Permit for Players&PST of PRC Passport holder,

therefore please provide the following information:

Step and Required Document:

1) Attached application form (family member info must be filled out) (please save the

application in word file, no pdf or picture file)

2) One 2 inch visa photo – the dimension from the tip of your head to your chin should be

within 3.2-3.6 cm – (photo should be in digital file)

3) Front and back copy of applicant’s ID (no photo – must be clear)

4) Copy of passport (no photo – must be clear)

5) Supporting document to support your profession (i.e.: copy of an award certificate or

proof of professional athlete certificate etc.)

6) Re-entry visa or proof of residency of another country or copy of Hong Kong ID. (In the

case if the applicant is in China but has not retrieve re-entry visa from another country,

applicant must bring required documents to Hong Kong and apply for Taiwan visa)
