قالت عنها الله رضي عائشة صلى: عن الله رسول قال: وسلم عليه الله

له شاق عليه وهو فيه ويتتعتع القرآن يقرأ

أجران.

. أجران له عليه يشتد وهو يقرؤه والذي رواية وفيرواه البخاري ومسلم واللفظ له

“The one who has mastered the recitation of Qur’an will be with the obedient Messengers ( the Angels), and the one who recites the Qur’an and stutters in it, and it is difficult upon him, will have two rewards.” Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim

TAJWEED

The linguistic meaning of Tajweed is:

(to beautify something) التحسين .

The technical meaning of Tajweed is:

ومستحقه حقه Dحرٍف كل إعطاء

*(to give every letter its right with its description and

its origination)

*(giving every letter of the Qur’an its rights and dues

of characteristics when we recite the Qur’an and

observing the rules that apply to those letters in

different situations).

Muhammad bin Al-Jazaree the great Qur’an and Hadeeth scholar of the 9th Century(Hijri) says in his famous poem, detailing the rules of Tajweed:

“And applying Tajweed is an issue of absolute necessity, whoever doesn’t apply Tajweed to the Qur’an, then a sinner is he.”

MUSHADDADAH

If a Meem or Noon is Mushaddad (that

is, it has a shaddah sign on it), the

reader must do Ghunnah (or Nasal

sound) of 2 Harakah on it.

k ووقفا وصال والثابتة الحركة من الخالية النون هي A noon free from any vowel, that remains

unchanged when continuing to read after it, or stopping on it.

the six throat letters, The

Noon Saakinah or the Tanween

is pronounced clearly from its

respective origination

Pronounce Ghunna with the following

letter

If the Noon Saakinah or the Tanween is

the reader should make Idghaam without(ر

Ghunnah.

Skip the Noon or Tanween and

Pronounce the following letter without

Ghunnah

is converted into a Meem.

And the reader should make

Ghunnah for 2 Harakahs.

APPLYING THE IKHFAA RULE

If any letter other than the letters of

IDhaar, Qalb or Idghaam letters

follows the Noon Saakinah or

Tanween, the Reader should hide the

Noon Saakin or Tanween and

pronounce them In a way so that the

sound is between Idghaam and

IDhaar. The reader is also required

to make Ghunnah for two Harakahs.

If the Meem Sakinah is followed by any letter other than ” م , it has ”ب

to be pronounced clearly by making a complete contact of the

two lips without Ghunnah.

If a Meem Sakinah is followed by a “” م the second Meem is

pronounced with Ghunnah with two Harakahs.

If the Meem Sakinah is followed by a “” ب the Meem is clearly

pronounced by making a complete contact of the two lips .

With Ghunnah two Harakahs
