The Certified Financial Planner Certification is a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to those candidates who were able to complete all the requirements which includes the educational qualifications, working experience, passing the Certified Financial Planner Exam and adhering to the Code of Ethics.

The Certified Financial Planner Exam serves as an assessment exam that will gauge your knowledge and skills in all aspects of financial services. The CFP Exam is taken by financial planners and other professionals who want to prove their expertise in the field of financial planning. Aside from that this certification exam is also designed for those professionals who want to further their careers, broaden their knowledge, refine their skills, apply for a higher or different job position, get better salary compensations and most of all keep up with the standards of the financial services industry.

The CFP certification exam is designed by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards in order to assess your ability and integrate and broad base of financial planning knowledge that is applicable to real life financial planning situations. The exam covers over a hundred of financial planning and financial services topics. It is a 10 hour exam that is given in 2 consecutive days. It will be a four-hour session on Friday and two 3-hour sessions on Saturday. The exam is consists of 285 multiple choice questions with one case study per session.

To qualify in taking the CFP Certification Exam you must complete all the requirements set by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Boards). There are various CFP certification requirements that you have to comply with in order for you to qualify in taking the Certified Financial Planner Certification Examination. For you to meet the educational qualifications you must earn a Bachelor’s degree or higher from any form of discipline as long as it is from an accredited college or university. Aside from that you also have to complete the formal Certified Financial Planner Course Curriculum wherein you have to take special subjects that are vital in the field of financial services.

Another requirement that you must complete is the 3 years working experience as a financial planner, assistant financial planner or any career related in the financial services. After completing both the educational qualifications and working experience you must then submit to a full background check so that the CFP Boards can check if you have any legal issues. And lastly you have to adhere to the Code of Ethics that is set by the CFP Board.
