Taking the Texas Teacher STaR Chart

DeLay Middle School

• Go to http://starchart.esc12.net/• Click on Teacher under New

User

• Put in your campus ID number– 061902050 for DMS

• Put in your Username– Get this from Jayne Germany, your

Instructional Technologist

• Click Register

• Fill in the required fields.– Email address, password, subject area,

grades

• Hit SubmitMake sure to

include your entire email address!

• According to the notice that appears, you will receive an email with a hyperlink to the survey.

• DO NOT delete this email!• You will need it to take the survey.

• When you are ready to take the survey, click on the hyperlink in the email.

• You are taken to this page to log in.

• Choose Teacher STaR Chart Options

• Click on Complete STaR Chart

• You will have to assess yourself in 21 areas.

• Each area contains a hyperlink that explains the 4 levels.

• After you have scored yourself and move to the next area, the explanation window will minimize.

• Just maximize it to see an explanation for the area you have chosen.

Score yourself by selecting from the drop down menu.

• If you do not wish to use the hyperlinks to find out about the STaR Chart criteria, I have a handout with all the levels.

Taking the STaR Chart• The STaR Chart is divided into 4 parts.• Teaching and Learning: Since you are the best

judge for yourself, you must decide for each area.• Educator Preparation and Development: See

the recommendation sheet if you need guidance on H-L.

• Admin and Support Services: You should seek guidance on P-Q from the recommendation sheet.

• Infrastructure: These are district elements that you do not control; see the recommendation sheet for choices R-V.

Submitting the STaR Chart• When you are done with A-V, just

hit the Submit button.• You will see your overall score in

the 4 areas.• If you would like to print, choose

the print-friendly version.
