WHAT IS ATTITUDE?

A position of the body or manner of carrying oneself:

Attitude shows confidence of one person, it proves how matured you are mentally and how open minded are you

Its how you respond to other's behavior, maybe good or bad, how you behave in different situations, how friendly you are

a good attitude will always attract people and will make them show positiveness as well.

Equate to … Talent

Page 4: Talent vs Attitude (2)

“I studied every thing but never topped.... But today the toppers of the best universities are my employees, attitude is everything”

-Bill Gates

But we know that isn't true. Talent matters. If attitude were everything, then anyone could be a surgeon or professional singer just because they believed in themselves . It'll never happen.

Page 5: Talent vs Attitude (2)

A good attitude is a lot like success. A person must go through a process to have it, and the hardest part is that you have to keep working at it

Having a good attitude is one of the key decisions that u can made early in life, and u wake up every morning determined to make your attitude all it can be.

But talent is something which differs from person to person .

Page 6: Talent vs Attitude (2)

If you were to use a scale of 1 to 10 to measure talent:

Most people are capable of growing only two points. In other words, if a person's natural ability in the area is a 6, then if he works hard at it, he can become an eight. Occasionally, a highly focused, motivated, and talented person can grow by three points, but that is not the norm.

Attitude is different. Here's the great thing about attitude: People can go from 1 to 10. Attitude growth doesn't have the same restrictions that talent does.

Page 7: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Attitude is a state of your mind at which impossible is nothing. Your mind releases abundance of energy and strength in your body to achieve anything that you desire.

But in case of talent, it is our skills and their application which makes us achieve things we desire.

Attitudes are based on assumptions. In order to change attitudes one must first change one's assumptions.

Page 8: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Having a right attitude is not an easy task. Many people spend years gaining the right attitude. They end up reading self help material and attend seminars, it works for them for the first few months and then they are back to where they started from.

But having wrong attitude can be very dangerous. The most interesting example can be seen in the recent episode of KBC. Where a contestant named Prashant lost 1 crore rupees only due to his wrong attitude.

Page 9: Talent vs Attitude (2)

IN MANY WAYS, WE'RE ALIKE; however, one little difference almost always makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. William James, over a century ago, said, "The greatest discovery of this generation is that a human being can alter their life by altering their attitude."

Radiate the attitude of confidence, of well being, of a person who knows where he is going. You will then find good things happening to you right away.

Page 10: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Some people dismiss attitude as inconsequential. But studies show that people with a positive attitude achieve more than those with a negative attitude. In addition, people with good attitudes attract other people and they enjoy life more.

The power or knowledge to do something is known as ability and a special ability or cleverness is known as talent. So talent is never positive or negative.

Page 11: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Many people believe they're stuck with the attitude they have today, but that's not true. Anyone can change their attitude

Talent is something which is invested in you, it can be increased by doing hard work but it cannot be changed

The process begins with wanting to change. It continues with identifying problem feelings and thoughts and then changing habits. Anyone can make their attitude their greatest asset.

Page 12: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Its been discovered that there are specific things that get people down. Called as the Big Five Attitude Obstacles: discouragement, change, problems, fear, and failure.

Often we are used to think about developing our talent and our personality. In this due course we tend tototally depend on our learned talent. What we forget, which is more important is what to do with the talent that we have acquired over the years.

Page 13: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Gaining immense talent and not making use of it is like buying your favorite shoes and not knowing where to wear.

Talent alone is not enough for you to succeed in your life and in your career and you definitely needsomething to back you up

Talent and attitude when mixed together gives you an edge over your failures and helps you jump back and get on track without having much to bother about on the failure part.

Page 14: Talent vs Attitude (2)

As an example:There are many talent shows occurring now a

days like dance india dance, sa re ga ma pa challenge, jhalak dikhle ja, indion idol, laughter chalange etc

Its about the way they carry themselves. while they are on the stage standing in front of thousands of people who have no clue about how this person is going to perform.

The curiosity amongst people increases, the moment the person starts his performance. The crowd may be pleased and in return give the performer a loud applause or may even possibly boo the person.

Page 15: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Now the point to emphasize is the why would the person be applauded and not booed? What exactly did the person do in order to get applauded? How did he manage to win so many hearts? What would be the possibility of his favoritism? And the questions may keep piling up.

One of the main answers would be his attitude, his confidence in delivering his talent and his timeliness.

Page 16: Talent vs Attitude (2)

People achieve great things not by their skills but their attitude. Positive mental attitude is a wonder drug.

A person with a positive attitude is optimistic, enthusiastic and energetic. Our attitude affects our success and our outlook to life

Attitude is our inward feeling expressed by our behavior and also it is our outlook to life, based on our past experiences.

Page 17: Talent vs Attitude (2)

If attitude is not right then nothing else can be right. It is that, which draws people towards us or repels them.

A Strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug. Our attitude determines our approach to life.It also determines what we expect from life?

Whether we are preparing to take off or heading for a crash

Page 18: Talent vs Attitude (2)

In fact, positive attitude helps us to bring out our inner energies. When a person's attitude is positive, it is conducive to growth and progress.

If one's attitude intimidates other, even his best advices are neglected by others. Negative attitude injects fear.

A hardened attitude on the other hand leads to a closed mind more

You control your attitude. If you are negative it is because you have decided to be negative and not because of other people or circumstances.

Page 19: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Harvard and Stanford Universities have reported that:

85% the reason a person gets a job and gets ahead in that job is due to attitude.

And only 15% is because of technical or specific skills.

Page 20: Talent vs Attitude (2)

A major part of excellence has got nothing to do with talent and in course of time you go beyond a certain level

Talent is the most useless virtue to possess . Its what you do with that talent matters and there comes “Attitude”.

Attitude counts far more than talent because talent creates an ego and talent never solves problem beyond a point

Page 21: Talent vs Attitude (2)

There have been many cricketers who had been extremely talented but did not know what to do when the faced roadblock because they never had to struggle to succeed. They always use their talent to succeed

Vinod Kambli is an example when he did not know how to play a bouncing ball, he was 22 years old, he did not know what to do, did not played test match after that because talent has solved everything for him before.

Page 22: Talent vs Attitude (2)

What is excellence, is it being in the top 10%? But when everybody is in the top 10% then everybody has the same talent

So it depends on what you do with that talent that counts.

India is a nation dazzeled by talent. The only word which comes go our mind when we talk

about Sachin Tendulkar is talent. But it is not the case. He played 55 games as a 14 year old without a break.

He practices for 2 hours, played again, practice more 2 hours and fall asleep and do that 55 days in a row, that’s attitude not talent.

Page 23: Talent vs Attitude (2)

But when he was born it was not like that a nurse picked him up and said, “here Mrs. Tendulkar , here 90 hundreds for you. It is in Tendulkar’s talent that produced those 90 hundreds. Its his work ethics, its his attitude and more than anything is his passion for his work and that counts far far more than talent.

Talent opens the first door, might open the second door, but will not open the last door.

To reach talent, but to stay on top Attitude is what we need.

Page 24: Talent vs Attitude (2)

“One little difference always makes a big difference The little difference is..”

Stay Positive : The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.

Purpose : Our vision becomes clear, when we look inside our heart.

Laughter : laughter is sunshine in any life. Laughter is your heart's way of telling your face to smile.

Page 25: Talent vs Attitude (2)

Courage : Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying “I will try again tomorrow”.

Goals : Take the long view... one day at a time. Expect the best : It's a funny things about

life, if you refuse to accept anything but the best you very often get it
