I have renewed the sump and side gaskets on the Austin only to now find a serious oil leak on the front end of the engine , so it is out with the radiator and off with the timing chain cover to try and cure it. I also renewed the brake cylinder rubbers on the front axle of the Austin and am now having trouble getting the brakes bled prop- erly so more bleeding required. The radiator on the Triumph 2000 decided to leak, so another radiator to remove and take up to Plymouth radiators to check out. It sometimes seems never ending! But we have to expect the odd problem driving these old cars, so self inflicted I guess. We have signed on quite a few new mem- bers this month so the winter runs will be interesting trying to fine venues big enough to feed us all and enough space for all the car parking. THERE IS A SPACE

HERE FOR THOSE

WILLING TO HELP

BY JOINING THE

THTC COMMITTEE

Hi all, We are well and truly into the season for

rallies etc. And have recently returned from the

THTC vehicle gathering at the Coombe Trenchard

English Country Garden event. What a wonderful

event it was with the picturesque setting, the

beautiful house and the excellent array of stalls

plus of course the fine selection of vintage and

classic cars. We camped out there with our

campervan and for the first time towed the A40 Sports on the trailer behind the

camper which all went very well. A few lessons learnt about how to strap the car on

the trailer were learnt and we must have done it well enough because we didn’t

loose the car! You will see on our forthcoming events list we now have a date and

venue for our Christmas dinner event which this year for the second time will be

held at Trethorne Liesure Park. Many of us will meet again at Morwellham Quay on

the 16th June where we will have a THTC stand and will be collecting subs for next

year, those who have joined in the last few months will be covered until this time

next year. Please let me know if you would like to attend Morwellham as I initially

booked for 35 cars and we are nearing this number although we can increase this

number if I let them know.

I have renewed the sump and side gaskets on the Austin only to now find a serious

oil leak on the front end of the engine , so it is out with the radiator and off with the

timing chain cover to try and cure it. I also renewed the brake cylinder rubbers on

the front axle of the Austin and am now having trouble getting the brakes bled prop-

erly so more bleeding required. The radiator on the Triumph 2000 decided to leak,

so another radiator to remove and take up to Plymouth radiators to check out. It

sometimes seems never ending! But we have to expect the odd problem driving

these old cars, so self inflicted I guess. We have signed on quite a few new mem-

bers this month so the winter runs will be interesting trying to fine venues big

enough to feed us all and enough space for all the car parking. Please let me know

if you wish to attend the carnival processions at Callington or Tavistock and the

static display display at Pensilva. Cheers for now Dave Fry.

MEET THE MEMBERS

Hi fellow THTC members,

Our chairman and newsletter editor Dave Fry has been asking for members, for some time, to

contribute to the monthly newsletter, by sending him items of interest to be included.

Can I suggest that we all help in turn by sending a “member profile” to Dave so that we can get

to know each other better. One member each month could be invited to contribute, giving vehicle

information as well as details of hobbies and interests etc.

We would all learn a bit more about each others beloved cars, as well as our interests and the

things that make us tick. I am quite happy to start the ball rolling and hope that others pick up the

challenge when invited to do so. We can add as much or as little information as we feel comfort-

able with, without divulging private information. PLEASE TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE. We will

not be nominating anyone for these articles but will ask for volunteers to send their profiles in to

St Anthony’s Muse, St Dominick, PL12 6TD. Mike Elson.

Profile for Pam and Mike Elson

Brief note about us and our Vehicle Details.

We have been members of the THTC for about 18 months and thoroughly enjoy the clubs activi-

ties. Because of work and where we live, joining in everything has not been possible, but we

hope this will all change as Pam finishes work and we move to Harrowbarrow later on this sum-

mer. Although our car is not yet a CLASSIC yet, one day it will be, but we still enjoy it. Our

Mazda Mk 2 MX5 was manufactured in 1998 and first registered in 1999. It is in good condition

and has only 33,500 on the clock. It spent some of it’s life in Southern France, is rust free and

has just passed it’s MOT with NO ADVISERIES. Whenever we show, it always attracts interest.

MEMBER PROFILE.

Pam has been involved in Primary School, and lately Pre School Nursery, teaching all her life,

but is looking forward to retiring early in July as her nursery closes. She enjoys all types of craft-

work and is rarely found with empty hands. More often than not she has several projects on the

go at once. She has always been involved with choirs and still solos regularly. Both of us are in-

volved with music in the church we attend. We have only been married two and a half years,

have one “child”- a dog called “Smudge”.

Mike was involved in selling all his life. Nearly 20 years in the grocery trade with Brooke Bond

Oxo and then in the furniture trade with Silentnight before moving to Rest Assured, driving

around 30,000 miles a year. He loves music, particularly brass bands, and still plays Euphonium.

Along with Pam, he enjoys gardening, eating out, travelling and visiting National Trust Stately

homes. We both love Australia and only wish we were younger so that we could emigrate.

We love doing things together and membership of the club allows us to share many of our inter-

ests. Quickie Profile
